From my past sexual experiences I believe I have Had the std for two years . I was wondering what was the chances of having pid. I still have abdominal pain and painful intercourse .
I went to several doctors to find out about pid and none could give me a definite answer . Either they didn't know or others would say it's unlikely to be pid as its my first std infection. Either way I was given doxycycline twice a day for two weeks just incase . But this hasn't helped the pain .
Does anyone know how long does it take for chlamydia and gonorrhea to turn into PID after treatment for the STDs? Also I should add that I went into the ER with pelvic pain and was treated for both STDs even though the test cultures came back negative. Could they have been false negatives? I am still in bad pelvic and flank pain.
Dear doc, my wife was diagnosed with PID about 12 months after we got married, by laparoscopy (carried out due to heavy and painful periods). Swabs from lap didn't grow anything. I had been to the STD clinic before we had sex, due to history of unprotected sex with 1 partner (tests negative) and wife had no previous partners. I attended clinic again (again urine and swabs negative) and we both had treatment (me- doxycycline, wife- cipro and metronidazole) and things settled down.
s up to me whether or not I wanted to be treated for PID as I realize it would involve an injection, as well as doxycycline and metronidazole for two weeks. I just want to be sure all my bases are covered to ensure that any kind of bad bacteria affecting my reproductive organs is gone. The fact that I also had bacterial vaginosis makes me think I just go forward with this PID treatment.

it was extremely itchy and painful. and my virgina was very very RED. The doctor told me that i had PID after doing a swab, and looking down there.
i have been tested about 2 months ago for STD's and it came back negitive.
Just from the information that i have found on the internet, thats the only leading cause of PID is an STD. thats why i'm so worried about it.
I started taking medication of doxycycline 100 mg bid and metrogyl 400 mg bid. I had sex with my partner on 2nd day of medication as I haven’t been informed about the abstinence. And my thigh pain did not improve. What should I do now? Should I continue the medication?
And also is the diagnosis of PID with free fluid in cul de sac on Usg always correct? As i do not have vaginal discharge at all. I only have pain in my right thigh region since 10 days .Could it be anything else?
I went back for a review with my other GP - GP A and she gave me Doxycycline for PID without running further checks. At that point, i forgot to ask for further confirmation checks nor did i manage to ask if my partner needs to be checked/treated as well.
I started taking Doxycycline on the 11th and am on my 7/20 tablets. Do you think i can still take a STI test just to confirm my condition and for a peace of mind?

I have been diagnosed with PID today as I was suffering from constant lower abdominal pain for the last week. I have had this pain before, for shorter periods, and I am not sure for how long I have had this disease. I have not been feeling well for about a year, with regular pain stomach, digestion problems and other symptoms that were just diagnosed as "stress" by the doctors.
My doctor prescribed me Azithromycin tablets to take as one dose and then gave me an injection of Ceftriaxone and prescribed me Doxycycline and Metronidazole after I told him I was still having severe abdominal pain. However, my doctor said that after the pelvic exam and ultrasound, he did not suspect that I had PID and that a laparoscopy would be more definitive to diagnose it.
i was diagnosed PID a week to my menses.. I was put on doxycycline, rocephin and metronodazole for two weeks... Am 5 days late..
I had an STD test done a month after I initiated a more serious relationship with a partner. I tested positive for Chlamydia. I informed her (my girlfriend) and a week or two later we both took Azithromycin (4 pills in 1 day) the same day. A month later now she tells me that she has an upper genital traction Chlamydia infection and she is not sure why the treatment didn't work the first time and that she hasn't been with anyone else.
i was 16 when i was first diagnosed with PID. i was put on tablets that i found unbearable and was told to stop taking them by my GP. ever since then i have been having symptoms much like a water infection and have many different tests until i went to my GUm clinic last week and was diagnosed with PID again. i am seventeen now. i am taking metronidazole and doxycycline. i dont know how i got it because me nor my partner have any STIs or anything like that.
they examined me and took some blood test and sent me home (give me some antiboics doxycycline and metronidazole)
4th May: I woke up and i was bleeding that much and in that much pain i was rushed back to the hossi. they examied me again etc and kept me in over night. In the morning i got my results back ive got Chlamydia and Pelvic Infecton.
I was so shocked i have never slept around but since me and my fella got gether ive never been tested and he hasnt been tested for 3 years.

Some months ago I started having yellow discharge, itching and redness in my vulva. It took some time to discover that it was BV. I was tested for gonorrhea and it was negative. However, i guessed i wasn't tested for chlamydia but my doctor prescribed me doxycicline for 8 days, twice a day, and my boyfriend took it too. So, I guess I can conclude I don't have any of those now.
I got better but I never felt really good.
After having intercourse with someone about a week or so ago, I have noticed I have been having a lot of discharge, itchiness around the vagina and vulva and overall swelling and redness. It feels uncomfortable to walk sometimes and I've just felt irritated the last few days. I expressed this to the doctor and we decided I would get a pap test. Once he pushed on my uterus and cervix, etc. I felt a little pain.
and the doxycycline and azithromycin would have cured any possible infection that could explain any of this.
Please try to move on. You can be 100% certain you did not catch anything, did not infect your wife, and that she has a hernia and nothing more.
At the time, I experienced a major drop in my immune system. I got PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and multiple UTI and yeast infections. After a few months, everything cleared up and all was okay until lately. Now, almost a year and a half later, I have another very painful PID. My questions are:
Is the PID caused by HPV? I've been screened for other STDs and I'm all clear.
Did I contract PID from a sexual partner?
( I was kinda hoping it was just a yeast infection after all the antibiotics I've taken, but it doesn't usually cause green discharge? I am at my wits end I just want it to go away!
Hi, I have had a problem for around 3 months now, I was diagnosed with chylmidia and treated with a single dose of 4 tablets of azythromycine before this I had no symptoms, approx 2 days after takeing the treatment my penis head started to burn and was getting on of testicular pain and a clear discharge, I went back to the clinic and they gave me a 7 day course of doxycycline, but I still had the symptoms which I will talk about shortly, I went back to the clinic about 7 weeks after for a test o
I have been having painful urination for a few years off and on, but recently it has became unbearable. I went to a Urologist and he sent my urine off for culture and started be on Cipro. I did not have any relief and the culture did not grow anything out. He said the infection is more than likely in my urethra. He mentioned ureaplasma. I am currently taking 7 days of doxycycline 100mg twice a day. I finish tomorrow. My symptoms have improved a lot but I do not feel cured. I am worried.
Last year I was hospitalized for PID. My symptoms were severe itching and green discharge. they put a bunch of antibiotic IVs, did an ultrasound that revealed a cyst and a vaginal culture came back positive for chlamydia.
Ever since the PID I've had a dull ache where the cyst was in my ovaries it sometimes hurts when i cough or lie on my stomach. I don't know if I would describe it as pain or just discomfort and a feeling of something being in my lower right abdomen. Is this normal?
me and my boyfriend have been together for a year and went to the GUM clinic when we first got together and got checked out , where i was diagnosed with PID i was treated for this twice. i then came out in warts and am still getting treatment for them as they are been stubborn and because i am now pregnant they are more hard to get rid of .
No, not every gonorrhea infection will result in PID, and 2 years is a REALLY long time to go without symptoms. Are you sure you weren't infected after that?
STDs don't cause PCOS.
I have surfed the net and found out that if a chlam/gono infection is not treated, it could develop in a pelvic infection (PID) and could even be asymtomatic and lead to infertility. Last year, I saw my ex back and we had a night and unfortunately i became pregant but fortunaly, I did lose the child naturally. However, the doctor never really had the time to perform exams of all sorts on me.
