Hi, I went to urologist this morning bc I've been having burning sensation when urinating, frequent urination, and irritation/pain at the tip if my penis. I have diabetes but it's usually well managed. My urine test showed my glucose is 250 in the urine, but my sugar checks are usually in range 2 hours after I eat. Can this high glucose in urine cause these problems I'm having for the last 10 days? I've been on doxycycline for the last 6 days, but it's not helping at all.

One thing another member said after tx was to check for vitamin B deficiency. It is a simple blood test. She had it and her neuropathy extended long after tx was over.

Yes I have been worked up by a neurologist, I have seen many doctors and received several diagnosis, some conflicting, but neuropathy is what seems to match my symptoms the most. I have been checked for diabetes and MANY other things, all normal. I do not drink alcohol at all, or take drugs.

Doxycycline 100 mgm by mouth twice/day for 6 weeks and then once/day for 3-6 months is a common treatment of blepharitis and meibomian gland disease. It is not so much antibacterial as antiinflammatory and gets into the oild gland. That's the reason its also used for acne. There is a new product that is specific for blepharitis but I don't have the details or brand name. None of these cause floaters.

I'm not an MD and not medically trained, but to my knowledge, doxycycline would not treat a yeast infection. Doxy is an antibiotic that treats only bacteria (including Lyme), not yeast (which is in the fungus family). In addition, antibiotics wipe out not only 'bad' bacteria but also the 'good' bacteria that protect your body against fungal infections. It may be that the receptionist at the MD's office got things confused. I would check to be sure.

see your doctor. and realize that you canNOT treat all STDs and that MDs do NOT have good tests for all STDs. some STDS we just call em when we see them. so they can say "i don't think you have herpes" but then you could have it. unless they do a blood test and for men, then don't have a test for HPV...
