doxycycline and headaches

I am a 20 year old male who was prescribed 200mg of doxycycline twice a day to treat confluent and reticulated papillomatosis, and after 3 days, I started developing headaches. I stopped taking it after a week, but my headache persisted. I feel a constant pressure in the back and top of my head and my neck that is not throbbing but more like something pressing continually.

I was directed to continue taking the doxycycline and after I took the first pill, I began to get a severe headache and nausea. The headache became so severe I went to the ED. They performed a CT Scan which was normal and a Lumbar Puncture Opening Pressure 22. After the LP, the head pressure resolved for 3 weeks. The head pressure returned and Ive had normal MRI/MRV/MRA/CT Sinus scans. I had 3 more lumbar punctures with no relief. The second OP was 18, third OP was 24.

I have severe sinus pressure and headaches for the past 2 months. Also I have numbness in my left cheek and half of my tongue is numb. I had a CT scan that showed infected sinuses. Took augmenten for 10 days, still feel terrible. Doctor started me on Doxycycline for another 10 days. Anyone else have the numbness.

A month ago I had a staph infection which the dermatologist treated and gave me doxycycline to combat it. 5 days with the medication I started getting headaches/pressure daily, starting from the back and then making it's way to behind the eyes where it would stay for ~2-4 hours. Before bedtime the pressure would die down/not prevent me from sleeping and when I would wake up the pressure wouldn't come back till 3-4 hours later.

m still ringing and the headache comes and goes. I worry that its the doxycycline. Who knows.

a couple weeks after the encounter I came down with testicular aching and severe headaches that would come and go and vary in severeness as well as severe muscle twitching in my calves and hamstrings and muscle aches and pains as well, I had a fever also. Since the onset of these symtpoms the muscle twitching and headaches are an everyday thing and vary in severeness. I was tested for chlamydia, ghonnore,hsv,ebv,Hep,Hiv at 11 week mark and all neg.

Fast forward, I was recently treated with doxy and I got MAJOR headaches. They made me feel nauseous and my ears would ring terribly. I hated it, BUT, keep in mind what Jackie says about Herxing. If you feel worse during treatment - it's a GOOD thing. You have to just learn to cope with the increased symptoms and continually remind yourself that it's the antibiotic killing off the bacteria.

10 days later I was no better - in fact I was worse. Now I had headaches, body aches, chills, and nausea. And the redness had spend to cover more of each of my breasts. I went in to see my GP who prescribed doxycycline and zofran. 6 days later I was still ill and the redness had spread to above my nipple on the left side. Doxycycline 100 mgm by mouth twice/day for 6 weeks and then once/day for 3-6 months is a common treatment of blepharitis and meibomian gland disease. It is not so much antibacterial as antiinflammatory and gets into the oild gland. That's the reason its also used for acne. There is a new product that is specific for blepharitis but I don't have the details or brand name. None of these cause floaters.

instead, i juz told her my prob and she diagnosed me wif oesophagus reflux(side effect of doxycycline) meanin the acid in my stomach traveled up to my esophagus causing irritation and prescibe me wif anacid. i read somewhere that if i were to take doxycycline, i must not take anacid because it will lessen the effectiveness of doxycycline. so, now i'm at a lost again..

Has anyone had low dose doxycycline (50mg) used for rosacea or used any antibiotic and got severe vertigo 40 minutes after taking it? I had dizzyness then vertigo and my right ear went deaf then I almost fell but my husband caught me and I got nauseated, tired and cold. It only lasted for about 20-30 seconds. I have been sore from almost falling and jerking myself and tired all day.

You're obviously very anxious about all this, and in that state of mind you will only find information to inflame and prolong your fears. All is well; nothing bad is going to come from this.

I'm not an MD and not medically trained, but to my knowledge, doxycycline would not treat a yeast infection. Doxy is an antibiotic that treats only bacteria (including Lyme), not yeast (which is in the fungus family). In addition, antibiotics wipe out not only 'bad' bacteria but also the 'good' bacteria that protect your body against fungal infections. It may be that the receptionist at the MD's office got things confused. I would check to be sure.

see your doctor. and realize that you canNOT treat all STDs and that MDs do NOT have good tests for all STDs. some STDS we just call em when we see them. so they can say "i don't think you have herpes" but then you could have it. unless they do a blood test and for men, then don't have a test for HPV...

I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?
