Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms questions

depression

Avatar n tn A doctor will ask you questions which will help him decide if you are depressed. I believe there is a site on the internet with these questions. Hair loss does not sound like depression, but then we are all different when it comes to the symptoms. Certainly irrability is a sign of depression, but then it could just be stress. Only a doctor can tell you this.
1253197 tn?1331209110 I may be wrong here, but I believe all the interferon's can cause depression - the only DMD that does not is the copaxone. And as far as taking it everyday, you will notice you do it out of survival and it becomes second nature. I chose to be on Betaseron, my presription plan does not carry that but has Extavia which is the same thing.
Avatar m tn The psychiatrist also was asking me questions related to depression such as "has your appetite changed?" and "are you sleeping differently?" but she stopped after asking me only three questions and I said no to all of them and that's when she said I didn't have enough criteria for depression.
Avatar f tn I would tell the doctor your symptoms, you should be tested way before one year if your still having symptoms..
Avatar f tn next with the treatment, the side effects can be really bad, especially the interferon, since it can make depression worse and I already have a history with severe major depression. I have stage 2 out of 4 fibrosis. I was also given this paper with METAVIR hepatitis activity index. I have no idea of what to think, what to do, etc. I'm all alone trying to digest all of this and I'm having a really hard time. Any information that anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hello - Some background...Im a 35yr old woman who's been on/off Zoloft since 2004. I was first prescribed it for depression (dosage peaked at 100mg). Took it for a year in conjunction w/going to therapy and weaned off in mid 2005 w/no issue. Later in 2005 I started to experience intense anxiety/panic on my train commute to/from work - typically when the train would be very crowded or when it would stop on the tracks underground or above ground.
Avatar f tn 1) Warning signs of depression. A) When we are in the midst of our episode, it's sometimes hard to see the slipping into depression. B) Others might need to see the warning signs to help us. 2) It explains the affects of our illness in good detail for our loved ones (as well as those trying to answer the questions?) Avatar f tn So I feel thankful that I know what it is know I feel as though when I read the list of symptoms that I can relate to many of them. My question is could this have brought on the suicidal thoughts? And I am afraid that my job could make my symptoms worse. If my left arm gets worse, or my symptoms progress I am afraid I will not continue my career. Can any one help?
8265858 tn?1403378544 A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, this is a very hard question for me to ask anyone but I am desperate! Does anyone know if ECT or magnetic treatment really helps a person with severe depression? I have taken every type of anti depressant out there and either they do not help my depression or I cannot tolerate the side effects. Right now I am not taking anything except for something for my anxiety and I need something that will help my depression. I am desperate to find something that will help my depression.
Avatar n tn Do remind yourself that these symptoms usually go away after one week... meaning the anxiety, fear, depression etc. Best is to have someone close to you check in on you, also have your doctors phone # handy. The nurse there can usually call you back by the end of the day, with reassurance. Also the are hot lines that you can call, where a nurse will talk with you through you symptoms. Call your doctor who prescribed the medicines for you, they should be able to give you the #.
Avatar n tn m now wondering if perhaps my symptoms are due to depression or are perhaps exacerbated because of depression. My question is can depression be a purely physical disease? In other words, can one have depression without feeling 'sad' emotionally? I've always been a happy, optimistic person. I have no other major stressors in my life, aside from my present illness. I'm a 30 y/o male with no history of any serious illness. I'm in good shape and have a good social life.

Avatar f tn At the top of the forum index page there are two buttons - Warning signs of Depression and Symptoms of depression. The symptoms page follows the DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) which is what pdocs used to diagnose mental illness. The other one, warning signs, covers DSM symptoms and a few more related signs which may or may not be present, like anxiety, irritability and alcohol use.
Avatar m tn Kind of like when a child gets sick, the child wants his/her mother near by to cater to them. Does anyone know if this is a symptom of depression or something else? Maybe anxiety? Is depression intermittent? Some days I feel totally normal and then sometimes for brief moments I will get that terrible feeling. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't get overly concerned about the lump being cancer until she has a doctor take a look at it. It could be something really minor. Take care and God Bless you.
Avatar n tn See your Doc. Tell him/her of your concerns. No one on here can give a diagnosis. Lots of support/friends will answer questions & tell of their experiences etc Ask specific questions, so that you can receive specific answers. Best wishes. You are not doomed by your genetic makeup.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! Iv been taking celexa for the last four years for depression and anxiety and my doctor wants me to try Cymbalta as my celexa is no longer working and I have been suffering from pain that they believe is nerve related. Iv ready alot of reviews on this drug and not sure if its something I want to take, then again, iv read really good reviews on it. Anyone out there ever taken this drug and if so how was your experience with it.
Avatar f tn Well there are several types of depression, major depression, chronic depression, bipolar manic depression as examples. Symptoms of depression can include an extreme feeling of sadness, sometimes you can’t sleep or you sleep too much, you cant concentrate, you feel hopeless, you have negative thoughts that you cant control no matter how much you try! you can lose your appetite or sometimes you even gain appetite. You can be easily irritated.
Avatar n tn Remember, however, that symptoms, even all of the above listed symptoms, do not equal HIV disease. There are many illnesses that can cause these symptoms. The only way to know if you've contracted HIV is to get tested.
Avatar f tn Hello, Usually a doctor will ask you to go back in two weeks if you still feel the same. He then has questions to ask you to see if you are depressed. I believe you will find these questions on the internet. Not sure where. Look up depression and see if that helps you identify what is wrong. Try and see another doctor. They vary so much. I have found this. I don't see how sleeping pills can help depression. Tiredness is certainly a symptom of depression. I live in UK too.
