Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms questions

362387 tn?1207277719 I'm even having these feelings of post partum depression. Like I want nothing to do with the baby and when I have to i get very irritated sometimes. I DON'T like it. I'm not like that I LOVE my baby. I need answers about this thyroid ultra sound. The doc stated that I had lymph nodes in my thyroid? What does that mean? Do lymph nodes move? I didn't think they did and everything I look up about lymph nodes and thyroid lead to cancer.
Avatar n tn Namaste, If you suffer from five or more of the following symptoms of depression and these symptoms are present for two weeks or longer without physical cause, you should contact a professional mental healthcare provider for further evaluation.
Avatar n tn A doctor will ask you questions which will help him decide if you are depressed. I believe there is a site on the internet with these questions. Hair loss does not sound like depression, but then we are all different when it comes to the symptoms. Certainly irrability is a sign of depression, but then it could just be stress. Only a doctor can tell you this.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are a few questions that I have: Have you been dx with Chiari? Have you definitely been dx with Adjustment disorder disease by a Psychiatrist? If you have been dx with Chiari, some of the symptoms could be coming from that instead and you may have been misdx. From what I know about it...once you settle into or accept the new situation that is the stressor, then the symptoms usually ease off.
Avatar n tn IF you should consider trying antidepressants again, I would STRONGLY suggest you ask your doctor a lot of questions about the med he puts you on. Side effects should be one of the first questions, ADs carry a lot of them. Effexor more than most in my opinion which I base on personal experience. You need to let your doctor know of ANY side effect no matter how benign you may think it.
Avatar n tn And there are some other associated symptoms usually seen in depression, such as, loss of interest in activities that used to give pleasure or joy, loss of appetite for food (or too much eating at times), disturbed sleep, feelings of helplessness and some more. Do you feel scared when you meet people, or is it just that you do not feel like meeting them? Do you feel better as the day progresses?
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, this is a very hard question for me to ask anyone but I am desperate! Does anyone know if ECT or magnetic treatment really helps a person with severe depression? I have taken every type of anti depressant out there and either they do not help my depression or I cannot tolerate the side effects. Right now I am not taking anything except for something for my anxiety and I need something that will help my depression. I am desperate to find something that will help my depression.
Avatar m tn The psychiatrist also was asking me questions related to depression such as "has your appetite changed?" and "are you sleeping differently?" but she stopped after asking me only three questions and I said no to all of them and that's when she said I didn't have enough criteria for depression.
Avatar n tn I am concerned on reading your two questions. Both depression and the weight as i said are very classic symptoms of being in a hypo state. Where are your levels at? Can you go into a bit more thyroid history on yourself? What labs can you post - and When was the last testing done? To answer your question on a personal level. Yes I was referred to a therapist for my early anxiety and depression - but is was not sucessful.
Avatar n tn 1. Am I in a high risk level for HIV? 2. Should I be tested in 3 and 6 months (Do you recommend it)? 3. Can continue my life without thinking about HIV or Should I wait the test results? 4. Do you think I am infected? 5. Do I have ARS? Thanks. DarkMaster.
Avatar f tn I have been on Effexor and Serzone for Depression and they help a lot but I still have some symptoms od Depression. 3 years ago I started on Mirapex nor Restless leg syndrome and it was gradually increased to a 1 mg tablet 4 times a day. I found that it also helped my Depression significantly. Also I had been having constant nightmares all during the time I was asleep and all of that stopped. I have had no nightmares in the 3 years I having been taking Mirapex.
459155 tn?1264011742 I don't feel much w/d but the depression is BAD!!! when will that get better?? before I went on sub I had my doctor increase my zoloft to 150mg and plan to get some of the vitamins that have been listed (the ones that I can take w/ zoloft) The depression is the worst part of this for me. I started using when I got divorced and my dad died suddenly of a heart attack (all happened w/in 7 weeks). Please tell me this gets better!
Avatar f tn I am so sorry that your depression is untreatable, and with all those ECTs it has not improved. I presume no anti-depression medication has been effective in your case either. I presume you have tried them all. You certainly don't sound pathetic, I admire you for being such a fighter. Seems the doctors and psychiatrists have given up on you. Well I do not know what to suggest you do next, seems to me you have tried so hard.
Avatar f tn I spent three years inside when agorophobia had me by the throat. I've been in, around and through all of the symptoms of major depression, and at my age, I know I have this to look forward to for the rest of my life. Unless a discovery is made, and that might depend on all of us comparing notes. If this is just too weird, I do understand. And you may, like I do, get tired very easily. I'm tired now.
200220 tn?1361955154 Your other issues might be related to depression, cramps, stress, in other wards, once your depression, cramps, stress are treated, the others may be alleviated. There is a lot more to all this, but as you can see I have already but too much here as it is. You can google graves disease and rai (you must join) to get more info plus meet and get support from great people. Regardless, Good luck!
Avatar n tn Dear friend Don't ignore the symptoms of depression, talk to your doctor for an depression assessment. I was feeling well for the 6 month and I was ignoring the depression until one day I had to go to the hospital with suicidal thoughts and so depressed that I couldn't control myself. They put me on CELEXA and now I can say I function but still have very bad days. I cry a lot and feel empty and hopeless. They even put me on psychotherapy for severe depression.
362387 tn?1207277719 Also request that they check your antibodies and get an ultrasound.
Avatar f tn So, basically I wonder IF I fit in where? I did/do suffer from depression, sometimes unending it seems. I have delusions when on pain meds, but not any other times. I do/did have ups-downs badly, I shop more than I should, but remain in control. I cry easily, I get angry easily, I gain weight easily (could that be the meds). I have/had seizures until recently the neuro. said I was seizure free for a year. Then begins the Depakote withdrawl...I am basically just confused.
Avatar m tn pain, fatigue, depression, abnormal urinary function, etc. In my opinion, all three of these categories of meds are important and appropriate in order to manage the disease. How much do you pay per month for meds?
Avatar f tn So I feel thankful that I know what it is know I feel as though when I read the list of symptoms that I can relate to many of them. My question is could this have brought on the suicidal thoughts? And I am afraid that my job could make my symptoms worse. If my left arm gets worse, or my symptoms progress I am afraid I will not continue my career. Can any one help?
274858 tn?1267753512 Your not stuck,I look at this way not knowing causes stress, stress intensifies symptoms, then anxiety sets in do to the intensified symptoms and then depression occurs because of dimwitted Drs want to blame stress on everything.I hope that made sence. Go for the psyc eval. try to comprimise with your GP.You know how you feel.I have had ON and I know that it hurts like heck and it hasn't been brought on by stress, anxiety or depression. You deserve the best.

8248462 tn?1406999616 Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing good. I have a couple questions. 1. None of my MRIs except one I did in the US was done using MS protocol and the spinal tap was not done properly as no blood was drawn and tested to see if the serum contained O bands. There is still the question of whether I have MS or APS and the spinal tap has been the deciding factor leaning towards MS as it showed Obands. However it is not known if they were only in my CSF due to not testing the blood.
Avatar f tn At the top of the forum index page there are two buttons - Warning signs of Depression and Symptoms of depression. The symptoms page follows the DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) which is what pdocs used to diagnose mental illness. The other one, warning signs, covers DSM symptoms and a few more related signs which may or may not be present, like anxiety, irritability and alcohol use.
Avatar m tn Several questions: I'm 4th generation since my diagnoses of Hypothyroidism. I just moved from 100 mcg to 125 mcg Levothyroxin. I still feel terrible, even worse since my original diagnoses. My current TSH is 98.40 mIU/L. I'm a 46 yr. old male and have most symptoms. The worser ones are depression, fatigue, 60+ weight gain, extreme dry/leathery skin (I even have bad patches that look like psoriasis), ear ringing, and I can't walk without my legs getting heavy and extreme lower back pain.
Avatar f tn If I don't check things out to be reasonably certain I'm not experiencing unknown symptoms of depression, I waste a lot of money on Dr. visits and cab fares. I'm very sorry to have bothered you. It won't happen again.

1253197 tn?1331212710 So then looked at Rebif but worried about Rebif if it causes depression I had depression 10 years ago when my son was diagnosed with autism, my brother-in-law was killed in a motor bike accident iin South Africa and I had a benign breast lump removed all within a few months of each other. I was on anti-depressants for about 18 months and vowed I would not go on them again.
Avatar n tn can make neurological symptoms worse. However, one has to be concerned that the symptoms are real and that anxiety is making them worse and not causings them. Our perception of reality can vary according to our mental state. This does not make the symptoms less real to the individual however. If a full work up was done, then your symptoms might be due to a conversion disorder, anxiety, etc. I would first make sure that the symptoms are not real.
