coughing when you re not sick

I'm glad someone else posted this! I'm 37 weeks and this has happened to me all pregnancy! No reason for it, I'll just randomly start coughing. It usually happens when I lay down.

if you take robitussin or mucinex my doctor said its better to take the "DM" kind, and take only about half of the recommended dose

I have a 12yr old yellow lab and over the last few months she got a really bad cough. the vet said it was not the worse that he has seen but he said there wasnt' anything we could do about it. She's 12 and before the cough you wouldn't even know how old she was. Over the last 2 days she has suddenly lost the ability to control her bladder and if its not that she is puking everywhere. She's been coughing and passing gas for a while but now it's not just gas.

It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.

t usually get so much excercise when you are not sick... violently coughing and sneezing and blowing your nose can really shake things up in there... you may even have a strained muscle... your arm hurting could be because you slept on it wrong (when people are sick, they can't get comfortable and sleep all funny). Or it could even be pain from your chest traveling down your arm... it could be anything really! Wrap yourself in blankets, make some tea and watch a movie... let your body heal!

How far along are you? And you shouldn't worry! I have asthma really bad and have had allergies/cough/cold reallybad this year. II've been sick twice with horrible coughing and sneezing since I've been pregnant. Doc said everything is fine that the baby won't be hurt. I was really afraid to take any meds for coughing or anything but he said its safe to take robitussin (which doesn't really help me lol) and take my meds for asthma like I normally would.

Amoxicillin is what they give you when you're pregnant if you need it, and many cold medicines are fine during pregnancy. Plus, at one week past ovulation the egg is just implanting, and hasn't even started to really grow much yet. Not to worry!

All pet scans are clear and x-rays clear still I have a cough that sometimes is that of a heavy smoker. Coughing brings up clear mucus. Other than this cough I feel great. Any suggestions on how to take care of the cough?

I didn't cough either when I quit even though I was coughing like crazy when I smoked. Like you, I kept expecting to cough up a bunch of gunk, but it never happened. I even asked my doc about it and she said this was normal.

I believe you can but not pos. I took tylonahol PM and hot sweet tea with lemon when I was sick.

Did they ever do a chest x-ray on you? I would think with coughing for that long that would be one of the first things they'd check to make sure you don't have pneumonia. If it's untreated, it can last a long, long time. I'm not sure what's going on but I think you need to get back in there and ask for more tests until they find out for sure! Insist on an x-ray this time. Let us know how you're doing! I hope you feel better soon!

Is it normal to hurt where he baby is when you cough?

Absolutely! There is nothing worse than feeling sick when you are pregnant, it elevates all your feelings and is so much worse. I hope you feel better soon!!!

m not a medical doctor but here is my opinion on some of things things you mentioned you could possibly have: pneumonia: its possible, but pneumonia is relatively uncommon influenza (flu) - unlikely. You would have rapid onset of symptoms w/ high grade fever common cold - definitely possible bronchitis - not sure emphysema - not sure asthma - this would be secondary to a primary illness. Asthma constricts airway but doesnt cause fever, running noise etc. etc.

Or sudafed works wonders ... if you have a humidifier put that right by you at night it helps. You can try a really hot rag on your face also.

I recently had sex unprotected with a girl I met at a bar. Exactly the next day I had muscle pains and started to get really congested. Second day I started to get a sore throat and started coughing really hard with a lot of dark green mucus coming out of my coughs. My nose usually stayed runny all day but usually at night when I'd go to sleep it wouldn't run. But I started coughing and sometimes there's blood in the mucus when I cough up, little amounts in the mucus.

The bumps on his arms seem to grown inward under the skin while at the same time causing nausea and occassional bloody coughing. The experts he has seen over the years could not diagnose his situation, although he was told his condition was not cancerous or contagious. There are 2 different kinds of Sudafed now, one you can get off the shelf and one you have to get from behind the pharmacy counter. My doctor said not to use the one off the shelf and only the one from behind the pharmacy counter. The ingredients are different.

Some of the best thing out there is sudafed it will help to dry up all that crud I just got over a head cold by just taking that call your doctor and ask what all you can take there is a lot of things out there you can take when your pregnet its nice.

Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, ear ache. Head ache all day every day. Can any of these symptoms affect my baby? ?

Even when I stop coughing the green phelgm (after a week or so), I do continue coughing white phlegm for about another week. While the other times, the docs say it's just a common cold (I really can't tell the difference) however I keep having to have time off work, the cough is so bad I am sometimes sick with it. Anyone got any ideas?

Hopefully you went to see a doctor and you're feeling better. Feeling sick for more than 3 days with symptoms not getting better is a good time to see a doctor. Feel better.

I have had a cough ever since i became pregnant, it still wont go away i have been sick the past 6 weeks with coughing, runny nose and sore throat, could this affect the baby? And how can i get rid of it?

Pretty much sucks especially when there is not much you can take for it that is good for you while pregnant. I suggest getting take away for your brothers friends and let then see a messy house, they are only going to mess it up again nanyway and you will wantt to tidy it when they go.

Re my question - re coughing fits - I posted an article re coughing April to November for many years and the only thing to stop this was prednisone. Approx 6 weeks ago I started on SYMBICORT and have stopped coughing. Everyone is shocked!!! I cant explain how its feels. Almost as though I have gone on holiday as I am not coughing any more. I may give the odd slight cough but its only a one off perhaps every 3-4 days and it is only like clearing my throat.

You can take Benadryl (I used the PM little blue pill), Tylenol cold (not multi symptom) original Sudafed (kind you have to sign for now) and Robitussen (not DM or any other letters). Also lots of fluid and rest!!!
