Avatar n tn I told him that I was not coughing up blood nor had I been coughing up blood. My family doctor then stated to me that I would cough up blood and then it would be too late for me. I have trusted my family doctor for some years, but I felt this was a very negative statement by him to me. I have deeply researched COPD, try to remain encouraged and I felt this doctor was giving me an immediate death sentence. This has greatly upset me.
Avatar n tn irritation of the throat from violent coughing, blood clot in the lung, bronchiectasis, bronchitis, cancer, cystic fibrosis, inflammation of the blood vessels in the lung, nosebleeds, pneumonia, tuberculosis or inhaling blood into the lungs. Avatar n tn I am told it comes from stones even n the kidney causing some irritation. HOwever the fact that you are coughing blood seems unrelated to me. Blood even with MSK, needs to have more serious things rulled out with a doctor.URO etc. Even if it is just an MSK thing,,, they need to amke sure it is not something more, esp. with the blood you are coughing up!!!

Avatar m tn Coughing up blood can be caused by a lot of things http://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/coughing-up-blood/basics/causes/sym-20050934 Causes By Mayo Clinic Staff Hemoptysis refers to coughing up blood from some part of the lungs (respiratory tract). Blood coming from elsewhere, such as your stomach, can appear to be from the lungs. It's important for your doctor to determine the site of the bleeding, and then determine why you're coughing up blood.

Avatar m tn For the last month I am sneezing up blood and coughing up blood(coughing up blood not sure if it is from nose), have headache all the way down the middle of the brain and when I swallow, also I am short of breath and wheezing, also have chest pain and back pain, right now I have itchy back. But, I had an x-ray 6 months ago that showed clear lung. I had 6 x-ray in the last year due to recurring chest pain. What is wrong with me.? Is it allergy or asthma?
Avatar m tn Mostly the latter. I asked for a blood test for peritoneum cancer ( I have lots internal exams which come up clean) and irritation ( what is the right term) which he did. Doctors in Japan dont do diagnostic tests for GERD. The blood results wont come back until Jan 10th.

Avatar f tn If he's throwing up blood and coughing it up, he HAS to get in. How old is he? There's a lot of different things it can be, but this could be potentially life threatening and has to be diagnosed. He could be refusing treatment because of a fear of finding out and knowing something serious could be wrong.
Avatar m tn My son who is 12 is having episodes of coughing up blood every 60 days --it started in March of 2012 -- it sometimes starts with sharp pains in his right side (front) -- or sometimes he just coughs up blood -- the coughing up of blood lasts for about 20 mins -- he coughs up about 1/2 of a specimen container of blood -- he says it feels like there is something he needs to cough up -- he coughs -- not too hard - and then spits into a cup and it is blood.

206807 tn?1331936184 Never had an esophageal bleed but once those vessels burst it entails a lot more than just coughing up blood. As a rule those blood vessels just don't seal themselves back up and bleeding out can happen quickly. Did you see Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart? He was a bad alcoholic and towards the end the old boy was dying from the booze, p-issing himself, coughing up blood and on his way out. That was a pretty fair depiction of a raging alcoholic.
349465 tn?1289081764 Can any of you ladies who have had the cancer move to the lungs answer a question for me? What symptoms did you have when you were first diagnosed? What about as it progressed....what symptoms? Was there heaviness in the chest, wheezing and coughing, shortness of breath, etc...?
Avatar f tn Are these episodes of coughing up blood accompanied by any other symptoms? Do you have abdominal pain, do you ever have bloody stools? Gastrointestinal problems like ulcers can also be the cause but not likely given that it is only a small amount. Do you have nose bleeds? Pain in throat? I think with the ct scans someone is definitely on the right track. Be patient and try not to think the worst scenario. It could be something really simple.
4121556 tn?1350428560 Only you, your family, and your regular veterinarian should be involved in that discussion. Regarding the coughing, the most common cause is a degeneration of the mitral valve within the heart. The veterinarian who sees your dog will be able to diagnose this via an exam and some xrays. The xrays will also help rule in or out cancer, parasites etc.
