clarithromycin strep throat

I went to the doctor and both the strep and mono tests came back negative. I only had a sore throat, the infection in my throat (white spots and pus pockets), tiredness (which I just thought was being tired) and an achy body (which I attributed to working out). The doctor determined that it was either strep throat and did not come up on the test, or it was just some other throat infection. He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days.

Three days ago I had a full STD screening done wherein I gave a urine sample and a throat swab. Yesterday I gave blood samples for early detection STD tests using RNA PCR. My urine and throat swab PCR test results came back yesterday. I'm clear of Gonnorrhea and Clamydia however I tested positive for Mycoplasma Hominis and Mycoplasma Genitalium. I thought these couldn't be acquired by oral sex but I guess they can.

She was given antibiotics about mid December for strep throat though no strep test was done...I took her to another doctor early January and they did a strep test and it must have been negative because they only contact if positive... I've been doing home remedies, it has gradually gotten better but she still has much discomfort even now... Can anyone shed any light on this situation?...

My symptoms started out as a simple cold, coughing sneezing mild fever and a sore throat. At first I was given amoxocillin to treat what they assumed was strep (a throat swab was never done), after the meds I felt better but a week later felt worse then ever. I have throat pain for the past three months now. The right tonsils is slightly enlarged and pus pockets/yellow-whitish granules are present at the right side of the throat. The pain spikes especially after I wake up from sleep. During the day sometimes I feel fatigued. Sometimes when I take long deep breaths I used to feel a slight difficulty in the center of the chest. I had unprotected oral sex about 3 months back. This is what has been worrying me. I did some STD tests..

If not you may want to call the doctors office and speak with the nurse or nurse practitioner to see what they think. It sounds like strep throat to me with the pain, white patches (pus). You could try one of the sprays that numb your throat but Tylenol should help.

I have been back for the results today and everything came back clear exept the doctor told me i have an Streptococcal infection (Beta Strep he called it). I have been given 14 x 500mg Clarithromycin tablets. Im looking into it but all i can find is it effects women, i have had problems in the past with water infections but this is a new one to me.

I know strep and allergies are definitely two different things, but it could be that if he has an allergy issue, his nasal passages and throat get irritated from that and then an infection occurs - the strep throat. This past winter I, myself, got strep throat twice and pneumonia once - the first bout of strep actually landed me in the hospital for 4 days.

As far as the concerns go regarding strep throat....Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. Strep can be passed through water. 1-2 weeks ago I developed swollen tonsils with no other symptoms but sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in the neck and basically that was about it. Last week I visited the otolaryngologist and he said it didn`t looked that bad, so he gave me a shot of betamethasone and I've been on clarithromycin for about a week with not much of improvement. It's highly likely you're going to get strep throat. The incubation period for streptococci is 2-5 days so you should be feeling something around now.

The next week my doctor switched me to clarithromycin for my throat. 27 days after the encounter while still taking clarithromycin for my throat infection, I began to have symptoms for chlamydia/gonorrhea. I have not had any discharge or pain/burning while urinating but I have had pain/tickle in my urethra after urination along with pain while driving?? I went to my doctor and he swabbed me for a test for which he has not received the results from yet.

They received flu shots earlier this year, and no signs of strep throat seem visually present. I personally suspect a cold. If it is in fact viral, the doctor wants to use azithromycin now to prevent possible respiratory infection or bronchitis. I have found a substantial amount of literature online that discusses how using azithromycin with QT prolonging drugs or other rhythm regulators can increase the QT interval and cause dysrhythmia.

M suffering from kinnda throat issue. . . Its been 2 years now. . .I dont feel any kind of pain but there iz a lot of mucus came out of mouth daily some times its just transparent thick sticky kind some times it is white even sometimes some blood like stuff came out with it. . .i feel no pain in throat or anywhere but the main problem iz headache I feel pressure in my salivary glands area and in my forehead. . . t seen it after a strep throat. Sore throats can often be caused aby viruses and not strep. With a strep throat you usually get a high fever. Sometimes you can also get swollen lymph nodes under the neck. You don't always get pus (white spots on the tonsils or back of the throat) but you usually do. Strep throat can become serious so they do have to watch you. Sometimes it does go away on its own. I would definitely get the swab done.
