I have had no other symptoms at all, other than swollen tonsils and a sore throat for the first couple of days which is now gone. The rest of me feels totally healthy, I'm still eating and sleeping okay and I'm not tired or anything.It's just really upsetting me and i've to wait til Monday before I get results from the blood tests. I'm from Ireland so I'm not sure the names of the drugs will be familiar to everyone.
So I decided not to go with Moxi yet. Took Azithromycin 500 mg for 6 days. Doc put me on a combination with Doxy 100 mg twice a day but I had a reaction to Doxy so I only stuck with Azithromycin. My urine analysis showed moderate growth of Strep Group B as well. Doc said that the co infection with strep group B could be the reason for treatment failure against MG. So I've started a Nitrofurantoin course for 7 days 100 mg twice a day for Strep Group B.
She was given antibiotics about mid December for strep throat though no strep test was done...I took her to another doctor early January and they did a strep test and it must have been negative because they only contact if positive... I've been doing home remedies, it has gradually gotten better but she still has much discomfort even now... Can anyone shed any light on this situation?...
I had gotten 2-3 mouth ulcers about 3 weeks after my last exposure, but I felt sick a day after too, felt like a common cold and had a sore throat. I went into a walk in clinic and was given clarithromycin cause he thought i had strep throat which ended up giving me severe diarrhea 4 days into the treatment and I stopped taking it, but the day I stopped taking it i went and got checked for strep throat, gonorrhoea and chlamydia and all tests were negative.
I have throat pain for the past three months now. The right tonsils is slightly enlarged and pus pockets/yellow-whitish granules are present at the right side of the throat. The pain spikes especially after I wake up from sleep. During the day sometimes I feel fatigued. Sometimes when I take long deep breaths I used to feel a slight difficulty in the center of the chest.
I had unprotected oral sex about 3 months back. This is what has been worrying me. I did some STD tests..
Thanks, I'm guessing the antibiotics for the Strep would pretty much clear out any other infections.
Woke up one morning about 7 weeks ago with a single inflamed taste bud (Circumvallate) and a minor sore throat. I ignored the symptoms for about 4 weeks before seeing a doctor, and over these 4 weeks my papillae became more and more swollen (I have strawberry tongue right now) and I gained an increasing amount of post nasal drip. When I first went to the doctor, I was given 2 injections (listed above) and a prescription for a Z-pack.
The urologist immediately suspected chlamydia due to particles of puss on the glans and prescribed me with Clarithromycin for 14 days while getting a urine sample (which came back positive for chlamydia a few days later). I didn't have sex or any sexual contact since the 13th of December, and contacted my previous partners about this. My girlfriend got a chlamydia test done (results coming today) and was put on Azithromycin single dose to be sure.

t respond to the drugs that they usually give you for strep throat. So it is possible that you could have it. That is my professional opinion as a clinical microbiologist The only other thing is are your lymph nodes swollen? Could these be what you feel when you swallow? You may have had the original strep throat and then your lymph nodes swelled and that is hat you feel? That with some residual pain from the sore throat? I don't know how bad your throat feels.
My brother and mom had a sore throat for a while and it went away, a little over a month ago i caught it, too. It started out as a sore, internal pain on one side of my throat when i swallowed. That went away in a week or two, since then, it has been switching between being dry or having a lot of mucus (not creamy, green, or infected-looking mucus). t comprehend any doctor treating you for strep throat if they have not tested you for it. If the diagnoses has been confirmed and you are not responding to the antibiotics you mights need something stronger. You should call your doctor's office and let them know how you are feeling. They would be able to call something else in for you or might want to do other tests to confirm what may be the problem. There are very resistant strains of Strep out there.
Having diarrhea after antibiotics is not rare, but also not normal. I recommend you to have stool test for C-diff and for occult blood.
Having problems with breathing is probably from the acid coming up into your throat and then down into lungs. You should fix this promptly, it may damage your lungs (aspiration pneumonia, with lung scars).
There's another possibility - alergy to one of antibiotics. Would you say you have any lips or face swelling or skin itching?
Well I ha e sinus infections just about all my life and now it seems as though I have picked up another germ. It's strep throat I have had it for 5months I went to see eat nose and throat doctor every time I went I tested positive for it help me I've been on several different antibodies and it helplessly for a moment then it's back again what shall I do help please than you.

And strep is notoriously resistant. They now use higher doses of things and antibiotics have additive agents to help them stay potent in killing the bacteria. So, if you took the full course and are still sick, follow back up with your doctor for the next step. Knock this out hopefully soon!
I know strep and allergies are definitely two different things, but it could be that if he has an allergy issue, his nasal passages and throat get irritated from that and then an infection occurs - the strep throat. This past winter I, myself, got strep throat twice and pneumonia once - the first bout of strep actually landed me in the hospital for 4 days.
