Natural Balance has a lot of omega-6 in it; I heard omega 6 is not good for a dog that had a tumor. What kind of dry food would you recommend? Please email me your suggestion.
Avatar f tn Maybe a sweet potato for lunch. Try to stick with healthy carbs (sweet potato, brown rice, oatmeal are my go to's) make sure you are eating any and all carbs early in the day. Also berries with honey (strawberries, black berries, blue berries, raspberries) is a great healthy snack. Honey is a slow burning carb, and berries are naturally lower in sugar than other fruits, so no sugar crash later. Honey that is locally cultivated can also help with outdoor allergies.
Avatar m tn It appears that yams have a lower Glycemic Load than sweet potatoes, and sweet potatoes have much lower Glycemic Load than white potatoes. That’s good news, I prefer yams and sweet potatoes to white potatoes. Also, supposedly the way in which a potato is cooked affects the Glycemic Load. A baked potato has almost twice the Glycemic Load of a boiled potato. Regarding pasta, it looks like this is a case where the “browns” are better than the “whites”.

Vegetables are healthy and should be eaten abundantly, aside from the starchy ones. Salad vegetables also ok. Protein has minimal effect on blood sugar, and good quality proteins should be eaten. Fats don't impact blood sugar. Healthy fats should be eaten to make up energy requirements.

I mean some only allow you 30 carbs a day...which is nothing! And very hard for somebody to live like that. I follow my diet/weight on a site called (without all the spaces) www.m y f i t n e s s p a l.com and I love it! It totals all the amounts of calories, fats, carbs, sugars and almost anything else.

I really want potato soup for supper...am I short on some kind of vitamin that's making me want potatoes so much? I used to really dislike them, because when I was broke a few years ago, they're pretty much all I could afford to eat.

I like to have popcorn (Orville 94% FF) in the evening and I use 1 TBSP of real butter on it. I drink FF Peach Tea, no pop........Can you give me an idea what I am doing wrong? I also do water exercises 3-4 times a week....

Avatar f tn A biscuit is just like eating fatty sugar, like a doughnut. No need to eat it. But a sweet potato has both carbs AND nutrition. A regular potato is okay, but choose a small one. What we have forgotten is that a healthy plate has two or three servings of vegetables and a small amount of other starch and a small amount of meat protein. I don't care if some of your vegetables are canned, although look for cans that are BPA free.

Avatar f tn t have to stay away from carbs. You just need to make sure you balance the carbs with protein. So if you eat a baked potato, be sure to add cheese and other protein filled things to keep that balance. One of my favorite things to make is fried potatoes with cheese, eggs, and turkey bacon (since I don't care for pig bacon). I slice up a potato and put it in a skillet with either butter or oil and I let it brown, meanwhile I cook the bacon.

Chicken, turkey, fish, steak once in a while, broccoli, egg whites. The rest of the time. Eat small amounts 4-6 times a day. Lots of water. No Dairy no alcohol. Google fitness competition diets. Lots of low impact cardio. Try spin class. I weight 165 lbs and burn 700 calories in 45 minutes at flywheel.

Tbd French fries are not good, nor a lot of any kind of white Potatoes. Sweet potatoes are better. You can use riced of mashed Cauliflower as a potato substitute, may need to put some garlic with it if you aren't fond of Cauliflower. Spaghetti squash is GREAT if you use 2 table spoons of your favorite spaghetti sauce. 300 calories for pasta, and 10 calories for same amount of the squash. Cook it WELL, and you can hardly tell the difference.
