It contains a type of protein that keeps you fuller longer. I like to eat a tablespoon or two before bed. I tend to be hungry at night. Stops me from eating the wrong things, and I won't wake up starving.
Avatar n tn My teenage daughter is a type 1, and her nutritionist said milk was great, as long as she counted the carbs and covered it with insulin. She drinks milk with dinner regularly. Milk is a great food, especially lowfat/fat-free milk. Are you covering your son's milk with insulin? As long as you cover the carbs in the milk with insulin, he should be able to drink it. It's much better for a diabetic than juice or soda.

Avatar f tn She is considered normal for her age. Carbohydrates are found in dairy foods (milk, yogurt, and cheese), fruits, and vegetables. There is sugar (lactose) in dairy foods along with protein which our bodies breaks down to glucose to use. I realize it is not the ‘traditional’ food sources of carbohydrates, however, if she is consuming these foods daily, then she is getting carbohydrates. If you are very concerned, suggest increase the intake of the above foods.
Avatar n tn With that diet, you might lose weight, but you will also not be healthy. As you describe it, your diet is basically dairy, lettuce and eggs. No real nutritious vegetables. No variety. Many people have a problem with dairy. Adults don't usually do that well with milk.
Avatar n tn The only thing I'd say to the above is, since butter has no nutritional value and nuts do, why eat the butter? Because the insidious nature of a dairy problem is, most humans have one but you usually don't notice it until your body is wracked with inflammation and digestive problems years down the road and you have osteoporosis from leaching out your magnesium. And you won't even know if it was the dairy that did it. Since it isn't necessary to eat dairy, why do it?
Avatar m tn I do tend to eat dairy, I love cheese but I have been really cutting back because of the fat. Now for dairy I mostly drink 1% milk daily and I eat low fat cottage cheese fairly often. I have not tried meditation or hypnotherapy, I think hypnotherapy might be more than I need, but I might try meditation. I have a lot of stress from hard classes, so that might be really beneficial in that too.

If your blood sugars elevate with almond or hemp milk find something else to eat such as oatmeal. Lunch: Read the flour tortilla nutrition label carefully. Foods made with white flour will elevate your blood sugars. And, some tortillas contain high amounts of sugar to enhance the flavor. Eggs and Fritos are OK.

My guess is its probably just hormones giving us food adversions, just like they give us cravings. You could always mention it to your doctor though, its possibly he/ she might want to give you calcium supplements.

Suggest in place of milk (milk, fruit, and ice cream blended) or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, milk, and frozen fruit blended). Add dry milk to oatmeal, mashed potatoes, gravies, creamed vegetables, and creamed soups (add additional meats to soups). This will give him additional calories and protein for weight gain.

(Remember that you need protein every 4 hours, since your body can't store it anywhere else than muscles, so your body starts breaking apart muscles if there's not enough protein available in the bloodstream. Also, you should start heavy lifting in case you already haven't) Being stressed out too much can destroy your gains and pretty much everything.
