Avoid highly process carbs and cakes, candies, cookies - things which break down easily and will raise your sugar.. Make sure you put fat with your carbs as it also slows down the absorption. Use natural fats as much as possible. Ie butter or cream in your potatoes, cream in your coffee. Do not use low fat foods. Regular fat cheese and yogurt, etc. Eat the fat from your meats.

My Mom's husband is, and I always had lower blood sugar, so I do my best to follow a diabetic diet as I find I feel much better. Now in the foodregardss. You want your grains to be as close to nature as possible. Brown rice, not white rice. UncleBen'ss might be a lower score due to fat added in the rice mix?

It's okay to give your dog an Imodium also, but only give half a pill and only one or 2 doses (not good for long-term use, as it is with humans). Poor Basset. Diarrhea is no fun.

This means you will eat lean meats in moderation, plenty of green and brightly colored veges, moderate whole grain cereals, some fruits - but stay away or limit portions of very sweet fruits, nuts, some dairy, healthy fats / oils. Bad carbs could be considered those white carbs that break down quickly. This includes bread, white rice, cookies, candies etc.

Avatar m tn If he stabilizes, and there is no more vomiting etc, then just fast him completely for 24 hours with just water, then try him again with plain boiled rice, then if he keeps that down and seems hungry, gradually start mixing some plain boiled white fish or chicken breast in with the rice. Very gradually introducing his regular food over the further few days.

What do you mean by 'not washing my hands' ? A compounder came to draw the blood. I have given blood for PP gain today with almost same meal with two half boiled eggs. Just to ensure a double check.
Avatar f tn and rice is not bad use jasmine its better and it dont bloat your stomach or wheat rice...replace your ceareal with oatmeal..or some boiled patatoes drained then fried in olive oil and onions with some preprika and salt to taste add ketchup if you like...no eggs..drink silk soy...very vanilla works for me an add some to your oatmeal...and stay with natural sugar till you reach your goal...and most of all stay positive...it will come off it will come off....

It's my understanding that this type of diet does not count calories or anything other than carbs. The general basis for losing weight is "calories in/calories out" - meaning that if you take in more calories than you expend, you will not lose weight.
Avatar f tn I would feed boiled rice, and boiled chicken or ground lean beef. Beef or chicken baby food would be good, too. The heart failure and high BUN are tough together. The high BUN would be helped with sub Q fluids, but would likely add stress to the heart failure.
Avatar f tn Test his BG before he eats and 1 hour after. for many people they get reactive hypoglycemia. They eat BG rises high then the pancreas makes insulin and too much so BG goes down too far. Many that have reactive hypos end up developing diabetes. so it is a good idea to keep on top of it. also carbohydrates raise BG " almonds, boiled eggs and tomatoes" not many carbs in that. the oatmeal would have a lot of carbs and a lot of carbs can cause a reactive hypo. also is you meter good?

Avatar f tn This may sort itself out by itself, but very often water is the answer, I would make sure it has been boiled and cooled, and you can buy it in bottles now ,for babies .Pureed plums/prunes may help, just a little , and if you have him on rice cereal try oatmeal or baby muesli ...breast fed babies do need some supplementation of water ,make sure that his food is sloppy not stodgy ...

He has been on Lasix, Enalapril and Pepcid AC for 2 years + and his vet added Vedmedin and Spironolactone about a year ago. This past Feb. she added Cerenia and Mirtazapine. In the last year he has gone through 3 episodes of not eating and I took him in every day for 4-5 days to get fluids and the cerenia shot. This really takes a lot out of him. He sleeps a lot now and is not eating well again.
