Avatar f tn I have been monitoring my blood sugar after eating. The other day I felt like having spaghetti. I made some sauce with organic beef and had wheat spaghetti noodles. More than 2 hours after my meal of spaghetti my blood glucose was still at 147. I love spaghetti, but can now see that I need to keep limiting how often I have it :(. I usually have it once a month.
666921 tn?1254990618 well yesterday [Thursday] - the day after the 'onion' herxy feeling - I felt a lot worse, increased anxiety, pain, bloating etc; at one point I thought I was going to pass out. Here's an odd thing - [nothing to do with onions] - one of my 'hard headed' dogs [bull terriers!
Avatar n tn Has anyone heard of putting a cut onion in a sick child's room while they sleep because I guess the onion will absorb all the bad bacteria
1472764 tn?1287588186 But in that 1st trimester, all I could eat was carbs, carbs, carbs - that and V-8, oddly. It was such a change in my diet but I could not stomach any of my typical foods - so I know what you mean. I figured there was a reason for it and I just went with it. By the time my second trimester came around, I could eat all my same foods again - so don't worry, this phase won't last long.
Avatar n tn I am a 21 yo female who has gained some weight in the past few years. I am looking to lose some weight as I am now 173 lbs currently and would like to get in the 140-150 lbs range. Advice/support from anyone in the same situation/someone who has once been there would be appreciated.
8180827 tn?1396894232 I'm not sure why you're so worried about getting sick on a low carb diet... The only carbs you have to give up are sugar, white flour, rice, etc. Veggies and whole grains are the best sources of complex (good) carbs. Also make sure you get plenty of lean protein and adequate "good" fats.
Avatar f tn I just read the most interesting article about onions,, back in the old days people used to cut a onion in half and place it around their house and those inside wouldn't get sick..also if you cut a onion in half and place it by a sick person at night,, by morning the onion will be black but the person will feel better..the onion collects the bacteria and takes it from the air.
Avatar f tn m curious If anyone has used raw onions to fight off sickness? I have read several times That people use onions in The bedroom Or any room in The house to absorb bacterias etc and have Also put sliced onions in there socks When sick to get rid of The sickness.
193609 tn?1292180293 Losing weight is really just a simple math equation and comes down to calories in vs calories out. In order to lose weight, you have to burn more than you consume. People lose weight on low carb diets because whether or not they realize it, they're consuming less calories. High carb foods (cereal, potatoes, rice, pasta, sugary snacks) tend to be quite calorie dense so a very modest portion can end up being pretty caloric.
Avatar f tn Whole grain cereal Fruit and yogurt Whole grain toast with peanut butter, fruit Hard boiled egg As long as you stay with complex carbs, which are those in whole grains, veggies, fruits, such as apples pears, etc.you should be okay. The complex carbs are the ones that provide fiber to keep you feeling fuller longer. Also be sure to get plenty of protein with every meal. Eggs and whole grains are excellent sources of protein, as is dairy.
Avatar n tn There is NO ideal carb count. Each of us is different. How many carbs you can handle without having your BG go too high (140 in the USA) is different than it is for me (I eat under 50gr a day). Google "eat to your meter" that will tell you haw many carbs YOU can eat.
Avatar f tn Carbs are in bread, pasta, veggies, etc. They are everywhere and they are good for you, complex carbs.
804966 tn?1261895278 Oatmeal is another great food to eat to keep you full - try putting it in muffins, pancakes or on its own. Eggs are a healthy alternative if cooked in a dab of olive oil or else with PAM or just boiled or poached. Outside of breakfast try to reduce your white carbs (potatoes, white rice, white pasta, white breads) and eat more complex and healthy carbs (sweet potatoes, brown rice, brown rice pasta, and whole grain bread).
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
4111382 tn?1356207828 I made lots of onions the other day...and made a casserole and basically ate the whole thing lol. Now everywhere I go, I smell onions! I wake up in the morning and the first thing I smell is onions... Im at the hospital for blood work and I smell onions. I'm sitting in class and I smell onions. And I'm not sure if maybe I've developed a bo from being pregnant.. I'm constantly putting on pit stick because of this! I'm convinced its me..
Avatar f tn I have been so upset lately. Stress is weighing on me for many reasons. My weight is one of the reasons. I am 259 lbs as of right now, my weight goes up and down constantly. I try not to eat unhealthy often but I cannot afford large amounts of fresh vegetables, fruits or meat because they're so expensive, and I only get $200 to spend on food for my boyfriend and I. I am in college and have no job or car, so I have no access to a gym or track.
483733 tn?1326798446 When roasted, place sausages on a cutting board and tomatoes and onions in a food processor. You may have to do this in 2 batches. Squeeze in garlic and discard skins. Pour a little broth onto baking sheets. Using a wooden spoon, scrape up and stir in any brown bits from baking sheet. Add to food processor. Whirl until fairly smooth. Pour into a saucepan along with remaining broth. Bring just to a boil.
Avatar n tn I would have to agree with both comments. Onions are in the garlic family and when eaten can produce smell through your pours. Even being around them can do this. My first job was at Burger King and my uniforms would smell of onions. As for being pregnant your sense of smell can become very acute.
