carb

Avatar n tn m having difficulty with the carbs. It says I should be consuming about 130 carbs but it seems to me so many foods contain carbs. An apple and banana are both things I thought was good but they contain carbs that add to my 130. Carrots is another snack I wanted to eat and also has about 10 g.
Avatar n tn Recently quit smoking (7 months ago) gained 15lbs. I'm 5 foot even and 156lbs. Any advice I. How to lose. I have upped my exercise and I'm on a 1200 cal diet, watching carbs, eating more veggies and increased water intake. I don't want to lose fast or unhealthy. Not looking for a number on the scale just want clothes to fit better at least.
Avatar n tn Consume more complex carbohydrates, such as brown rice, brown pasta and whole wheat bread, one to two weeks before you begin your training program. Complex carbs contain energy in the form of glucose, which will provide your muscles with the necessary fuel before you begin training. Complex carbs contain essential nutrients and minerals that will help your body develop after working out. A slice of wheat bread, or one half cup of white or brown rice, is a serving of complex carbs.
Avatar f tn It may be because after the body uses simple sugars, carbohydrates breaks down next for energy & if the body with dysautonomia gets higher amounts of carbs, it's like an overload of energy to our messed up bodies? I know I have a problem with large meals or with a meal like pancakes and syrup or when I drink a some soda w/sugar in it (I try to let it go fairly flat due to having IC).
Avatar n tn You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy. After a few weeks adjustment to it, you will fill up faster, hardly ever feel hungry, and always have a ready source of energy (your body fat!). Google it! Tons of info out there and many facebook groups!
Avatar n tn Again, folks, carbs are the biggest category of foods we need to be eating for health and energy. So when you say no carbs, do you mean no vegetables? They're carbs. Do you mean no complex carbs? Where are you going to get your energy from? So describe your diet in more detail, maybe someone can help you better then.
Cat t eliminate carbs from your diet - they are your fuel source as your body and brain need carbs for energy. You may want to start a daily written log on what you eat and how much, next to it your blood sugar levels. This will help identify potential food/s jacking up your morning levels. And, you may want to switch to a morning treadmill workout. High intensity exercise elevates your levels as the liver is dumping glycogen [liver turns carb sugars into glycogen] for expected energy.
7894272 tn?1395206727 Well, I'm not an expert, but I know that carbs are an important part of the diet. There are three types of carbs.(fiber, starch, and sugar) All carbs are four calories per gram, but sugar holds no nutritional value, so if you consume a lot of sugar you may meet your caloric(energy) needs, but your body is still starving for nutrients and as a result you consume more and add the calorie surplus to your reserves.
644592 tn?1226588817 ll be able to do forever. The thought of it seemed way too restrictive and your body needs carbs to give you appropriate energy, especially if you exercise. I have limited my intake of white carbs but I still eat plenty of whole grain breads, pastas and cereals and also potatoes and brown rice. I don't OD on bready or starchy food though. I also have a balanced diet of fruits, veggies, legumes, nuts and lean poultry and fish.
5536886 tn?1455827346 Hi Sampson34, Yes, there are different ways to manage type 1. Actually though, carbs are not necessary for energy, the body can also work perfectly well on very low carb and using mostly fat for energy. The alternative school of thought, even for kids, is to use low carb (with most of the carbs coming from non-starchy vegetables, full-fat dairy, some nuts) so that blood sugar swings are minimized and less insulin is required. This approach successfully reduces both highs and lows.
Avatar f tn We don't know your diet -- you say low carb, but all fruits and vegetables are carbs, so did you cut those out too? Much of our energy comes from deep green foods. Protein foods can be high in tryptophan, so they can make you sleepy. That's why you need a balance of carbs and protein -- carbs give us quick energy. So again, what's your diet and do you exercise and do you sleep well? Have your iron and B12 levels been tested? Are you depressed? Lots of reasons to be tired.
Avatar f tn Thank you, that makes a lot of sense!
Avatar f tn Idk for sure but my diet Dr told me low carbs low calories and low fat or fat free foods.
979080 tn?1323433639 As a person with Fatty liver I need to remind myself to chill on the carbs. The most difficult part of my diet to give up though. I could live on bread and popcorn :) Hope you are well and have stopped tx.
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar n tn energy input means any item containing calories which you take in and energy output means your energy consumption. try to search on line for energy consumption of physical activities. remember: excess/ unused calories would mean stored energy which may lead to stored fat and obviously you will gain weight.
3060903 tn?1398565123 Do not deprive your body of complex carbs. Carbs are your fuel for energy. Too little carbs can cause renal impairment. Remember, your meter is your friend.
Avatar n tn your body uses these three things for energy so if you take away carbs you need to add something else.. the conventional wisdom is to add protein if you are cutting carbs so you still have energy but you can only have so much protein and eating too much isn't going to help. Your body only will use a certain amount of protein for energy. What it will use in abundance is fat.. healthy fats .If you consume these and eat low carb you will still have the energy.. fat doesn't make you fat..
Avatar f tn I have read online that cutting out carbs is important for diabetes prevention, but carbs are a large part of my diet and I am pretty skinny already, so whenever I try to cut out carbs or cut down on carbs, I end up getting sick. Maybe it is coincidence, but I feel like it significantly impacts my immune system when I don't eat carbs. What should I do?
Avatar n tn t any different than eating any other way. You need enough protein, complex carbs for energy, and antioxidant rich foods such as colored veggies and a moderate amount of fruit. That's a balanced diet for anyone of any origin. Given that if you're living in India and they've been eating a vegetarian diet there for centuries, there are a host of people there you probably know who can help you.
Avatar f tn Are you scared of carbs because of weight gain or you have like a phobia? If its due to the possibility of gaining weight, chill out babe. I went for a few years totally avoiding carbs and I lost weight! I ended up going through a bit of depression and started not caring about weight gain. Gained about 10 kilo's Now I'm on a diet and having some carbs. I feel much fuller and healthier for introducing it to my diet. I'm still losing weight. Slowly though because I am type 1 diabetic.
Avatar n tn around a lot these days, but not distinguishing good carbs from ones that might be problematic. Most of a healthy diet is going to be carbs, given that all vegetables are carbs. It's the carbs that quickly metabolize into sugar and store as fat that are problem, not complex carbs. And if you play basketball, which is very aerobic, you're going to need those complex carbs for energy, such as whole grains.
Tbd Very low carb is 25 - 50 g of carb per day. When you cut carbs you still energy so you get this from increasing your fat intake and making sure you have enough protein. Enough protein can be at least 100g for a woman and probably about 120g for a man. You can use a diet tracker to work out which foods have how much carbs, protein, and fats. Other helpful natural means to control include exercise and normalizing weight. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I personally eat a Ketogenic diet of 20g or less net carbs a day. Most of my diet comes from meat, cheese and non-starchy vegetables. The high levels of fat in my diet help keep me satiated and promotes weight loss. I also tend to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I eat gluten free and grain free.
Avatar f tn I have been diabetic for 15 years. I have never been on a diabetic diet. I would like to know what I can eat, like how many carbs, fat, fruit, etc. Please help.
Avatar f tn I have a hard time following diets because I dont like seafood or eggs. Is there anything you can recommend as a FILLING diet that wont leave e hungry and will still help me she pounds and build muscle without just cutting calories down to 500 a day?
