Common Questions and Answers about Carb free liquor

carb

Avatar n tn Liquor itself will lower your blood sugar (liquor is all 0g of sugar, including liquors like rum which are based from sugar cane), but if you pair it with a sweet mixer (juice, soda, etc.) it will raise and lower your blood sugar. I usually find that when I drink, the mixers raise it first and the alcohol lowers it later. As for insulin, I use an insulin pump with a 1 unit / 11g of carb ratio.
Avatar m tn Terry, I was the guy outside, shaking, waiting for the liquor store to open in the morning. My addiction had absolutely nothing to do with the man earning a living running the corner store. As a matter of fact, sometimes that man was the only one who would take the time and effort to try to slow me down. Whenever I would dry out, he was always the first one to complement me and encourage me to not drink, saying how much better I looked and took care of myself by not drinking.
Avatar m tn Hi I have been taking Metformin for last 3-4 months. The sugar level remains around 125 fasting and random. I also do take 90 ml of Whiskey/Vodka around 4 times a week. My question is that is it ok if I continue to take this much of liquor or shall I reduce it.
Avatar n tn i'm a type I diabetic in college, so i've seen my fair share of drinking accidents/complications with diabetes. you should make sure you're above a certain level before you start, especially if you're drinking hard liquor. i find usually that hard liquor will drop my sugar quickly, whereas beer raises it at first and then it drops later on for the same reasons mentioned earlier. my suggestion is that you go easy at first to understand how your body reacts.
Avatar f tn At this time when I eat very little sugar, or higher carb cakes (I live gluten free life, but flours like white rice flour has high carbs, that I coud not avoid yet, but I'm working on it). So when I eat a self-baked gluten free biscuit with higher carb flours, I get this strange vibration. Like an earthquake inside me. What do you think, can this be a withdrawal symptom of sugar? I hope so, and just hope that it will go away when my body will adjust.
Avatar n tn I went low carb (carbohydrate) Diet that necessitates low grain.
1451080 tn?1438527660 As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar n tn we bought the book at Barnes and Nobles for $7. It is our bible! It has just about everything in it.
684658 tn?1239384954 m wondering if after all these years, will just drinking beer (or beer and hard liquor, like whiskey or vodka) cause someone to behave in bizarre manners, hallucinate, or become extremely violent? He says he quit doing drugs about 1982-1983, but with the way he acts/behaves, I don't believe him.
Avatar f tn The first diet you could try to help control your symptoms is a gluten free diet. A gluten free diet is a diet free of wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats. A gluten intolerance (which is when someone doesn't have the enzymes or not enough enzymes to break down the gluten in the above foods) can cause all of your above symptoms - PCOS, RA, hypoglycemia, etc. It's easy to look this up on the internet.
Avatar f tn I usually do at lunch or dinner. I also buy the fruit cups that are sugar free for a "free snack" when I'm craving some fruit. It's my understanding you can subsitute some high fiber grams for carb grams, but I'm unsure how to do the calculations so I don't bother. If you like bread Nature's own has some low cal, low carb whole wheat with fiber, white and honey wheat bread.
Avatar f tn Ok so I'm fairly new to drinking, kinda just started (I've only about 10 beers these past few weeks, and some liquor) it's nothing hardcore. One night I drank 2 (maybe 3 beers if I can remember) and downed several shots of liquor and my memory went into fragments the next morning but the hangover wasn't bad at all, and there was nothing wrong--very normal. Fast forward about 2-3 weeks I went drinking with some friends.
Avatar n tn The high levels of fat in my diet help keep me satiated and promotes weight loss. I also tend to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I eat gluten free and grain free.
1401296 tn?1280799533 however, my feeling is that your body needs all of the food groups, so by cutting out carbs, you could be depriving your body of necessary nutrients, etc. If you do go on a carb free diet and lose weight, most likely, you will gain it back if you go off the plan. If you stick with the complex carbs - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc - and eliminate the simple carbs - such as sugar, white flour, regular pasta, etc, - you should do better. Of course, you still have to limit your portions.
Avatar n tn I'll make this short... Went to colombia, stayed in an all inclusive hotel so liquor was free (drunk 24/7), had unprotected sex with a woman on the staff , 3 days later came down with meningitis( self diagnosis, no fever though.) I have HSV-2 and remember having meningitis at acute infection. its 3 weeks later no other symptoms, Took a rapid test at 2 1/2 weeks(neg). I will go again at six weeks. I just cant stop worrying because of the meningitis.
Avatar f tn You deffinantly need some carbs but reduce how many you eat and see if that helps. Meats are carb free most cheeses some sugar free stuff is low in carbs but not always carb free. That is a big mistake sometimes people make thinking that just because its sugar free its ok but sometimes sugar free stuff is still loaded with carbs. Example i was going to buy peeps for her for easter they were sugar free but still loaded with 28 carbs.
Avatar m tn My question is would Weight Watchers be a good diet for me go follow or the carb counting one i am on now ? I just found out i have to eat gluten free foods also this is why i am confused on which diet i should follow i am use to the carb counting .
Avatar n tn Now sugar alcohols (mannitol, sorbitol, anything-itol) --typically used as sweeteners in alleged low-carb or sugar free foods -- are a bit less straightforward and are the source of much confusion. Even for Atkins dieters, and even tho' the food labelling will subtract out all the gms of "itols" to come up with their net carb numbers, for diabetics taking insulin those sugar alcohols can't really be ignored.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it would be really difficult to do that, what with everyone having different restrictions (low sodium, low carb, low sugar, sugar free, lactose intolerance, gluten free, etc.), allergies, taste preferences, cooking skills, and the like. Perhaps visiting with a nutritionist would benefit you, so your diet can be personally tailored to you and your needs. I'm sorry we can't be of more service.
Avatar f tn In a word... No... There are no scientific studies that show going gluten, dairy, sugar free, low carb, etc will lower your antibody count... While the antibodies may cause some inflammation/swelling of the thyroid, your main symptoms are actually the result of hypothyroidism, caused by reduced thyroid function, not from the antibodies themselves.
Avatar m tn Regarding inositol, I know that it often is used to help with insulin sensitivity and hormonal imbalance, two issues that plague many PCOS sufferers. Since acne can be caused by an excess of free testosterone, this may be why inositol was prescribed -- to reduce the free testosterone. I'm not sure if your free testosterone has ever been tested but I don't think it usually is part of any routine labs.
1301482 tn?1325722991 Who has done a low carb diet that worked well? Can you give me any tips for low carb snacks/meals?
