Common Questions and Answers about Blood glucose test without blood

Avatar m tn I have just starting testing my blood glucose Do I need to test every day or weekly ?
Avatar m tn I did a glucose test this morning after a few sips of coffee and the reading was 146. Yesterday morning .. after a few sips of coffee --reading was 157. Yesterday after I fell asleep for a bit.. (More than 3 hours) I did a test and it was 101. ( No food or anything to drink) If I am a diabetic what is the difference between type 1 and type 2? If anyone has any info that they can share I would appreciate it.
Avatar n tn At the visit 2 months ago blood showed that I had slightly lowered thyroid which will be retested at upcoming test. In an effort to control this without meds I have eliminated soy, corn, broccoli, and spinach from my diet. I ran out of tea, normally drunk daily, 3 days ago just before this started, but cannot believe that is the cause of all this. I hope you can help me. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I had to work with the settings to get the setting that gives me a good drop of blood without going too deep, though, and you will have to do the same. Any new system will take some adjustment. As for the Accu-chek Compact, I personnally don't know about that particular glucose monitor. However, I use the Accu-chek Advantage and am happy with it. I have compared its results to lab blood tests, and find that the results are very accurate.
Avatar m tn Below this number, your ability to think clearly, react quickly to stimuli of any sort, and function without fatique are impaired. So yes, you may be hypoglycemic. Your Glucose Tolerance Test shows that your body does respond to the high glucose in the syrup you drank by over-producing insulin at times. However, this test seems to show that your body works normally to level off the glucose levels when they do drop.
Avatar n tn Basically I am worried because from what I understand a person living without diabetes should not have blood glucose levels so high at any time. I guess I should tell you I do not have family history of type 1 or 2 diabetes in my family. I am 21 years old and have a BMI of 23 (therefore I am at a healthy weight). Thanks for reading and any advice/comments for me!
Avatar f tn In going for my glucose test tomorrow and I was wondering if it was OK to eat before the test or not. I have heard it was ok but I have also heard that you shouldn't because it will mess the test up. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I will be six months on Tuesday and my next doctors appointment will be when I'm 26weeks and one day....I should be having my glucose tolerance test soon....I was wondering how was it for some of you? Like what was the process you had to go through? I'm just really curious before I have mime..
Avatar f tn Hey everybody, I am 28 weeks. Tomorrow I have the glucose test. I get the gist of what it is but I was wondering if yall could further explain it to me... And is it okay to have sugar tonight?
Avatar f tn Depending on your numbers from your first one, you might be able to talk to your doctor about going straight to being treated for gestational diabetes without a 3 hour confirmation test. That would involve a very strict no-sugar diet and weekly blood tests through finger prick to monitor your blood sugar levels. If you're asking can you just ignore failing the first test and go on as before, no, that's not a good idea.

Avatar n tn I am 23 wks preggers and last week I saw my consultant, who has said in mid sept I have to have a glucose test. I have low blood pressure all the way through pregnancy, high BMI because I am overweight and the consultant put me on clexane injections daily. Can anyone tell me why I have to have this glucose test and what it's for please? I have had a poor diet because of bad sickness. I was losing weight up to 3-4 months preggers and I still have sickness now just not as bad.

Avatar f tn My doc just called and I did not pass the 1-hour glucose test so now I have to go back for the 3-hour! Has this happened to anybody? Anyone know what happens if I have the diabetes you get with pregnancy? Ugh!
Avatar f tn People made the glucose test sound so bad but it wasn't bad at all and the drink tast good and where I went they kept them cold witch made it a lot easier to drink
Avatar f tn I have my glucose test tomorrow! What should I expect! I hear that it's awful....
Avatar f tn Your doctor shouldn't be doing g your glucose test that late. You are supposed to fast for 8hrs before the test. My neighbor at a breakfast burrito at 5am and had her test at 9 am and she had to retest because her test came back positive. She ended up not having diabetes...
Avatar f tn Im 30 weeks pregnant and I failed my first 1hr glucose test, my levels were just a tad high than where they should be. So now im worried about the 3hr glucose I have to take but most women ive talked to said they passed their 3hr test. Is anyone going through something similar?
Avatar n tn I took the glucose test and that stuff tasted like flat, over sweetened orange soda.Since then, I cant drink any orange flavored stuff without it messing with me.
11715504 tn?1422290015 I was 182 when i took the test...failed the 1 hour but passed the 3 hour test.
Avatar f tn If you fail the glucose test means you have gestational diabetes thats what the glucose test is for
Avatar f tn I go in for my glucose test wednesday what are your stories & experiences ??
Avatar f tn Anybody out there have a blood glucose level of 135 and actually have gestational diabetes? I've read that the acceptable number is below 140 but some doctors set the cutoff at 130. My doctor apparently sets the cutoff at 130... I had a VERY hard time with the 1-hour screening (sick, weak, dizzy) and am unwilling to do the 3-hour test. What do you guys think about the 135 level? How many women with 135 actually have gestational diabetes????
Avatar n tn I have read the fasting and post-meal (+2 hours) glucose levels for individuals with and without diabetes. Some "reputable" diabetes sites recommend that "normal" blood glucose levels are under 180 two hours after a meal, while other sites recommend under 140, suggesting that 180 is too high even after two hours. I've even read various doctors give different recommendations that are between 120 and 180 two hours after a meal.
Avatar n tn Just got my 28 week blood done, everything was fine except the random glucose, which had always been between 80 and 100 jumped this time to 139. The more I read the more concerned I have become about this. Can interferon tx cause diabetes? I cleared at four weeks and would be willing to take my chances by quitting now, if I thought there was a potential for getting diabetes.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am very concerned about my blood glucose levels. I am diabetic and I haven't been keeping track of my blood glucose levels for years. For the last month or so, I had been feeling totally exhausted, falling asleep at the computer, several times I actually fell asleep with food in my mouth that I hadn't chewed. I was weak and out of breath and could barely walk without getting winded.
