Avatar f tn Actually, yoga is awesome exercise and though the postures are usually done slowly and deliberately, it's great for weight loss. So let's get crackin' ---- WE have weight to lose...........................
Avatar f tn Have you ever looked into yoga for your son? Yoga is one of the best types of exercise for people with all types of conditions, because of its low impact on the body. With yoga, you can start out at a very low intensity and it's not necessary to keep up with the "instructor" - you do what you can, as well as you can do it... when I first started doing it, I thought I'd never be able to do strike some of the poses, but it wasn't very long and I could it without a lot of pain.
649848 tn?1534637300 Thanks for having this weight loss challenge! Great idea. Okay -- I'm in, too!
Cat I think I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but I strongly advise yoga as the best, all around type of exercise. It strengthens and tones the muscles, helps one relax, breathe deeper, etc. There are a ton of yoga dvd, and videos; research it a little bit and see what you think. Try YouTube -- search for yoga videos.

1222076 tn?1423031349 Hi Curly03 Diet stuff doesn't work very well not for permanent weight loss. Even if you lose some weight using these products, once you go off them, I've heard you usually gain the weight back. I'm sure you're aware of this, but it's a good idea to tell your doctor you want to go on a diet and ask your doctor what he/she thinks about that. With atleast 30 pounds to lose, you'll probably want to ask your doctor for a referral to a dietician. You say you have no idea how to eat healthy.
Avatar f tn or a similar phrase and you can find different websites with features that can help you calculate your current BMI, what you're BMI should be and how many calories you should be eating to lose weight. Another thing that's helped me stick to my weight loss plan for so long is not to deprive myself of everything I love! I've lost 143lbs so far but I save room almost every day for some kind of treat.
Avatar f tn //www.livestrong.com/article/237566-free-weight-loss-tracking-tools/ The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between. Ideally you’ll be sprinting or cycling full throttle for 30 seconds with a 90 second cool down in between each outburst. This is the fastest way to lose fat and build muscle in the body. Peak 8 actually stimulates the growth hormone in the body.
Avatar f tn it doesn't take long, walking several miles/day at a brisk pace to notice a difference. Yoga is also excellent for toning/losing weight. Both walking and yoga will tone the whole body. You can check out YouTube for tons of videos on yoga poses. Yoga emphasizes balance, breathing and relaxation. It works a lot on core muscles. Sounds like something for old folks, but it's really not.
8602384 tn?1399297633 Talk to your doctor about this: there are some serious things you can do. Given your BMI ("Body Mass Index") you are a candidate for medical weight loss. The FDA has just approved a new combination of medications to help people lose weight. These medications have been around for decades and have not been shown to have the terrible side effects that the fenfluramine (of "Phen-fen" infamy) had.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn I joined a boot camp 3 days a week and it has helped immensly on the aching joints. I am seeing muscle tone but absolutley no weight loss....I even increase calories like they said......went to Doctor and he too said it is menopause and some women will gain and I was one of them....I thought no way! I quit WW and joined Jenny Craig and stuck to it except for the occasional wine....so far 3 lb. gain...FRUSTRATING, I'll give it 3 more weeks. I want to prove the doctor wrong...
2038341 tn?1331249648 There are also free videos that you can watch online for various exercises. Try yoga; there are a ton of videos that you don't have to pay for. Not sure if you can download them, but you can certainly watch/do them online. You might also find online videos of Pilates or other forms of exercise. Walking is always an excellent form of exercise.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been put on a thyroid hormone replacement medication, and did it help to lose weight???? I have been looking for weight loss sucess stories with methadone patients but have had no sucess...Can u lose weight on methadone is my question?
Avatar m tn Well, they somehow combined my one question for one thing and a different question I had asked and deleted the response I gave for the weight loss and replaced it with the 2nd thing I wanted an answer for. Anyone to delete this and try again?
Avatar n tn I notice that when I reduce my intake to 1400 calories a day I loose more weight. Going to the gym 3 - 4 times a week does not seem to help weight loss as if I eat 1700 calories a day and have a naughty day where I have a more calorific meal at the weekend and exercise once or 4 times a week my weight doesn't seem to move or even goes up. It seems that everytime i want to enjoy myself a bit more with food my weight goes up.
Avatar n tn Hey there, In my experience what has worked best for me is to do many repetitions of light weight exercises. Bulk comes from doing heavy weights. I LOVE "The Firm" workout videos. They never get boring, are all 40 minutes or less, and are very effective. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi....some of the trackers on this site are helping me remain motivated. Seeing an exercise graph going up and my weight going down helps. I think there is a woman's gym in queensferry if near to you. I imagine its difficult with a young child. Maybe the thought of you being a great role model for a healthy diet to your little one will help. I hope you find support. Treat yourself to something when you lose weight... spending ages in a bubble bath...a new moisturiser..make up etc.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about doing yoga. It's great for weight loss, yet you can ease into it, as your body allows. The other thing is walking. Walking is one of the all around most effective exercises there is and most people can do it, if only for short periods.
Avatar f tn I'd suggest that you look into some yoga videos or classes. Yoga is great for toning muscles, and also helps with weight loss. Walking is also excellent. Since it's summer time, put the baby in a stroller and hit the sidewalk; pushing the stroller will even help exercise your arms. As for diet, a good healthy diet, with plenty of protein, lots of veggies, etc will be good. Figure out how many calories you need then drop a few, so you'll be in weight loss mode.
Avatar f tn Fast workouts aren't always the answer. Walking is an excellent exercise; it will tone up your belly, legs, hips, thighs, so cellulite isn't so obvious. Aim for at least 30 minutes/day, but more if you have time (minimum 30 min/day, 3 days/week). You don't have to run or job, just go at a good brisk clip. If you carry a resistance band, you can work your arms, shoulders, back all at the same time. Yoga is also good for toning, tightening.
Avatar f tn It's pretty pricey but there are pirated videos on the Internet for free . Make sure you follow the schedule though. Also eating healthy has a lot to do with weight loss !
Avatar f tn I agree that you should eat as few processed foods as possible. I don't agree that you need to invest in a guided fitness plan. Look up some yoga videos or pilates, etc... even "walk" videos, where you walk to a DVD... love doing those, when I can't get outside.
2188291 tn?1338095732 Any one of these conditions can make weight loss extremely hard, if not impossible. When getting thyroid tested, be sure to ask for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Best thing to do is to start slowly, making small changes that you can stick with, such as drinking water instead of sodas, eating a small piece of fruit or raw veggies, instead of a candy bar. Switch to whole grains, for breads and pasta. Switch to brown rice, instead of white. Opt for low/no fat dairy vs full fat or whole milk.
