I must confess, I am definitely a novice with yoga myself, but I learn more as I go along. I know there are several different kinds of yoga, ranging from what I do, which is slow and deliberate to another type that is very physical. Each kind of yoga has its own name and no, I don't know them all.
Avatar n tn If you are overweight, then as you lose weight it will naturally come off your face as well, in fact it is one of the first places weight loss is shown. If you within a healthy weight and have a naturally rounder face, then sometimes it is in our bone structure and heredity that we are blessed with and we need to learn to celebrate those things that make us unique. It would be a pretty dull world if we all looked the same.

2047155 tn?1527167564 pushups, squats, sit ups, skipping (jump roping) etc. There is also home videos which can be awesome. 10 dollars was all my yoga DVD cost and I love it. Just try to work in at LEAST half an hour of getting your heart rate up. If you're already a pretty active person maybe start out with on hour, 5-6 days a week.

Each day I think I will exercise but the energy is not there and I put it off yet another day. Not working - I just want to stay on the couch and watch TV or sleep. Energy is so low...
Avatar f tn Have you ever looked into yoga for your son? Yoga is one of the best types of exercise for people with all types of conditions, because of its low impact on the body. With yoga, you can start out at a very low intensity and it's not necessary to keep up with the "instructor" - you do what you can, as well as you can do it... when I first started doing it, I thought I'd never be able to do strike some of the poses, but it wasn't very long and I could it without a lot of pain.

Avatar f tn Is that 53 kg? If so, you're about right for your height. Maybe all you need to do is tone your muscles. You might look into trying to fit in some yoga, 3-4 times/week. Yoga is excellent for toning and strengthening muscles. It stretches your muscles and leaves you with a "long and lean" feeling, because you tend to have better posture. There are some excellent yoga videos on YouTube; check them out and see if you might be able to get interested.

I wish I could lose weight like that.........lol Getting outside and running with the children is most certainly exercise, even if not a "formal" way to lose weight. Elaine is right -- you don't necessarily have to go to a gym for exercise. There are a lot of videos that you can get online, or dvd's you can buy. The trick is pick things that you enjoy doing so you will stick with them.

Even if you lose some weight using these products, once you go off them, I've heard you usually gain the weight back. I'm sure you're aware of this, but it's a good idea to tell your doctor you want to go on a diet and ask your doctor what he/she thinks about that. With atleast 30 pounds to lose, you'll probably want to ask your doctor for a referral to a dietician. You say you have no idea how to eat healthy.

Another thing that's helped me stick to my weight loss plan for so long is not to deprive myself of everything I love! I've lost 143lbs so far but I save room almost every day for some kind of treat.

Avatar f tn it doesn't take long, walking several miles/day at a brisk pace to notice a difference. Yoga is also excellent for toning/losing weight. Both walking and yoga will tone the whole body. You can check out YouTube for tons of videos on yoga poses. Yoga emphasizes balance, breathing and relaxation. It works a lot on core muscles. Sounds like something for old folks, but it's really not.

I am seeing muscle tone but absolutley no weight loss....I even increase calories like they said......went to Doctor and he too said it is menopause and some women will gain and I was one of them....I thought no way! I quit WW and joined Jenny Craig and stuck to it except for the occasional wine....so far 3 lb. gain...FRUSTRATING, I'll give it 3 more weeks. I want to prove the doctor wrong...
2038341 tn?1331249648 There are also free videos that you can watch online for various exercises. Try yoga; there are a ton of videos that you don't have to pay for. Not sure if you can download them, but you can certainly watch/do them online. You might also find online videos of Pilates or other forms of exercise. Walking is always an excellent form of exercise.

Avatar m tn By the way, 45 pounds and 60 pounds is too much weight loss in only 3.5 months. You might want to set your sites a bit lower. Safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week.

Avatar n tn I notice that when I reduce my intake to 1400 calories a day I loose more weight. Going to the gym 3 - 4 times a week does not seem to help weight loss as if I eat 1700 calories a day and have a naughty day where I have a more calorific meal at the weekend and exercise once or 4 times a week my weight doesn't seem to move or even goes up. It seems that everytime i want to enjoy myself a bit more with food my weight goes up.
