Avatar f tn Ashley, I joined a gym (YMCA) and it made me pack on the pounds, last year. Interestingly, my brother had the same exact experience. He was also working out at at gym and he lost his attractive physique. I am a healthy, slim weight to begin with. But I joined the gym to firm up and feel better with more energy, and more muscle definition. Let me tell you, I looked like hell after going to that gym 4x weekly. I looked like a big ugly thick brick.

So Nways I workout for an hour today. Js cardio tho. Walking for 30 mins nd 30 mins elliptical! I'm not overdoing it right? Im Js little worried that I might've done too much today..

When I first started going to the gym, I was having issues with feeling extremely nauseous and lightheaded (very close to passing out) after about 30 minutes of cardio exercise. I chalked this up to being over weight and out of shape.

1949068 tn?1449628519 Hi!! I would say to speak with the staff at your gym just to get another run down of proper form with weights. Weight training (which builds muscle) burns more fat than cardio so I would recommend spending most of your gym time doing weights. You can google specific moves to train your trouble areas and then do some cardio. In my opinion the stair climber is the best cardio machine you can use but it isn't easy (at least not for me) try 15 mins at like level 5.

Back when I was 14-17 I would join my father in the gym, but his trainer gave me different things to do to just be fit and toned. I do have some equipment at my house and my husband works crazy hours so we can't just go to a gym. Plus, I would like to look semi-decent to be able to even show up at a gym. Ellipticals are very good at building muscle if you can handle high resistance -- the setting is up to you. They are mostly cardio if you work at low resistance and move quickly; they are mostly resistance training if you put the resistance up very high in which case you will have to go much more slowly.

Avatar f tn ve heard a few different opinions on what time of day is best to workout but honestly, the best time to workout is whenever you have time to fit it into your schedule! Personally I workout at all different times. Sometimes I have time to kill in the morning and have enough energy to get in at least a half hour of some kind of cardio (it's rare though because I am not a morning person AT ALL either lol) Other times I do it late at night.

The best and most effective way to start a resistance training routine is by doing a full body workout 2 to 3 days per week. In this workout, you should be doing one exercise for each major muscle group. You want to do 1 to 3 sets of each exercise (max), and do 15 to 20 repititions per set.
1483550 tn?1307285764 I have been keeping a pretty set routine of going to the gym in the evening. I was wondering when the best time for eating dinner would be?? Before or after??? So far I have been eating a decent size meal before working out and having a piece of fruit for a snack afterward. About a half hour after my work out my stomach demands food with lots of grumbling.... It's quite annoying! Is this good or not so much? Any advise???
Avatar m tn Yesterday I was at LA Fitness gym, at the end of my workout a guy was asking me about the roundhouse karate kicks I do over the machines in between weight training sets. While I was explaining my workout routine to him I had a sense that he might be high on pain meds. He had this calm peaceful look with a faint smile and his eyes were glassy and a little red. I thought I might be imagining things because of my opiate experience and recently getting over a mild relapse.

Avatar n tn We could recommend specific exercises, but those two areas can be reached with probably over a thousand different ones, both with weights and without. But they do have to be done correctly to hit the right areas and so you don't injure yourself.
Avatar n tn I just did a fairly intense cardio workout for 30 mins, I haven't done any proper cardio in my life and smoked for 5-6 years, I stopped 2 years ago though. When I finished in the gym (After doing some Bicep and Abs workout) I felt a chest pain when I bent over, now when I breath in through my nose I can feel it too, it's also on the right side like mentioned here. Did you guys pain go away fairly quickly? It does seem to be cardio related.
Avatar n tn well it depends on what you're doing at the the gym is there cardio invloved? like you i was going 5 times a week and no results 'til i added cardio (treadmill) and went on a 1200 calorie diet with 30 grams of fat. it was then i lost 25lbs in five months. I hope this was helpful.
