Avatar f tn A little over month ago I believe that I was fighting off a virus which had me feeling fatigued and feverish. Once that went away my whole body has been sore and weak on and off for a month. My calves and quads have been very sore, and so has my arms, mainly my forearms. I did go to the doctor last week for pain that has been radiating to the top of my head and the neck x-ray showed that i have narrowing of C3-C4, and was given muscle relaxants to help that heal.
Avatar n tn I have been doing the elliptical a lot for the past 2 months and the past few days my quadriceps and shins have been killing me. My quads are extremely tight. I went for a massge today and it still aches. Could this be due to my use of the elliptical for lengthy periods of time at a high intensity? My feet also turn in when I walk and I have been wearing flip flops all the time lately so Im thinking that could be it as well. Any thoughts/help?
Avatar f tn i was finally feeling somewhat decent on 112 synthroid. my weight was stabile, my energy was good, muscle and joint aches were subsiding. then i had a blood test that showed i was subclinical hyper with a tsh of .099. my doc decided to taper my meds. it's been 25 days since i went from 112 to 88 synthroid. over the past 25 days i've had strange symptoms...vertigo, chest pain, major heart palpitation episodes.
539156 tn?1281818356 I think so - anything that is good for the muscles is good for spasticity. Heat, ice packs, massage, stretches, even lifting weights is good. My honey helps by massaging my hands and arms when they get really bad - sometimes it can set off a muscle spasm! But when he's done, it feels better. I had a foot cramp the other night, and hubby tried to help me by massaging my foot, but it just made it cramp more.
16504142 tn?1448589333 I would only say in response to Gymdandee that my experience with surgeons is that the only thing they really know anything about is how to maximize their income. If you're lucky, they correctly diagnose you and correctly perform the surgery, but again, that's just luck. But what they really don't know much about is rehabilitation -- that's what physical therapists specialize in.
1667717 tn?1331160810 Take it easy for a day or two then do a low key workout. As in not anything you wouldn't normally do. If you lift weights maybe do a little less than you normally would.
Avatar n tn I'm having pain on the outside of my quads, which I only feel when i get up, or do certain exercises, like squats. The pain is similar to pain you get from a good workout, but its all of the time and is definitely been causing some weakness in my legs. I've been diagnosed with the following, but they say this is not the cause of the pain: L5/S1 disc bulge, a very mild and broad based disc bulge just barely touching the traversing S1 nerve root. Doctors do not seem to have any idea.
Avatar f tn After warming up for 15 minutes, stretch your hamstrings, glutes, calves, groin area, hips and quads, and hold each stretch for 30 seconds. Stretch your muscles again after your workout. Muscles stiffen and tighten during intense training sessions. Build a solid base. Before you train to run a fast mile, run an easy to moderate pace for at least 12 weeks. The stronger your base, the better your body adapts to more intensive training loads. Mix it up with VO2 Max workouts.
Avatar f tn and you get really sore, you say walking or treadmill for 20 minutes is this right after the workout as a cool down? Is it okay to go home and eat first then do the walking?
Avatar f tn I am not expecting quadruplets but I wish you the best of luck and congrats on the pregnancy :)
Avatar n tn i have a glass for my dinner every day and in cornflakes once or twice a week. works for me .
Avatar f tn Warm up on an eliptical machine for 5 min, then 20 reps of leg press, 2 min back on the machine, then 20 reps for whatev, back on the machine for 2min etc; We do something for quads, lats, biceps, triceps, flys, bench press, shoulders, pretty much every muscle group. We end with abs. The trainer I used wed (its a husband /wife team that trade off depending on the time of day) gave me my favorite tip so far...
Avatar f tn Tuesday-assuning that you have joined a gym or are already a member of one do a strength workout (on machines for now). Do exercises for chest, biceps, triceps, and core. Keep the workout between 30-45 minutes to start. Rest 30 seconds to 1 minute between sets. Do 2 sets of 15 repetitions for each exercise then go home! No cardio on this day Wednesday-do some kind of cardiovascular exercise for 20-30 minutes. If you walked on Monday swim, cycle, elliptical, stepper this day.

703362 tn?1427766328 Good Saturday Morning everyone! The exercise from my bootcamp workout that I would like to talk about today is the 'squat' with a hold. Another great move that requires very little time, no equipment, and can be performed nearly anywhere you happen to be. Sounds easy?....well, give it a try and let me know what you think. ; ) Squat (with hold): Works: Glutes, quads, and hamstrings How To: Stand with feet a little more than hip distance apart.
Avatar f tn Strength training, which is what you are currently doing is the BEST way to increase your metabolism. Cardio is the BEST way to burn fat. You truly need to do both for the best results...but NOT necessarily both every day (I only suggested that because you sound so motivated and like you have the time and energy to do it, lol). Also, I want to caution you on stretching BEFORE you exercise. There is now more evidence that stretching before exercise is more harmful than beneficial.
Avatar f tn Eat plenty of carbs before workout but don't go overboard. Don't eat carbs after 7pm or so. Eat about 1g of protein for every pound of body weight per day. Fish and lean meat have lots if protein. Protein shakes will help with bulk. Don't use creatine too much, it isn't too good for your heart :/ Of course eat minimal junk food and plenty of fruit and vegtables. There are also supliments called animal cuts you should check out. They're quite good.
Avatar m tn screws, bone pack, L3,4,5 in 1968, 44 years ago. Have had burning in quads for many years after only few minutes walking. Stairs are nearly impossible. Can't rise from a squat. Constant soreness across pelvis day & night. Had knee replacement 2007, the other is on the books. Meds - tylenol. Cautious with others because of heart disease.
Avatar f tn So the other day I had my ultrasound for my quad screening coming out high.the us came out normal and our boy weighs around 14 oz measuring on track at 20 weeks. I opted to get a blood test done that is 99% accurate in telling if he has down syndrome instead of an amnio. I guess my question is has anyone ever heard of having a normal us and the baby still having downs.
