1554612 tn?1294410935 Are you looking for Armour thyroid medication? You would have to get a prescription from your doctor, then get the medication from your pharmacy. I see you are in Ireland; I'm not sure it's available there.
798555 tn?1292787551 I called Kroger pharmacy and they had the same thing for $68 for 90 pills, not too much cheaper, and their NP Thyroid was $38 for 90 pills. I asked the pharmacist why the price keeps going up. She said she doesn't really know why, but it seems like every 6 months or so it goes on back order. She said as soon as it comes off of back order, the price goes up. Anyone know WHY this happens. Seems like they are ripping the customer off because they can.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I have been on Armour for 3 years and have had body aches for most of them. My labs fall into the normal range so the doc left me at the 60 dose. It didn't occour to me that it might be hypo until last week so I upped the dose and feel much better. Would the labs be different for Armour and Synthroid? I've been a thyroid person for so long I forget that might be a problem. 13 yrs on Synthroid before thyroidectomy 5 yrs ago.

Avatar m tn Well I've been on Armour Thyroid 1 grain split morning and early afternoon. Was on syntroid 125 mcg. My symptoms has seem to have gotten worse. Extreme nerve pain throughout my body with nerviness and shakes. Lack of appetite, bad headaches, tightness in the throat with a cough. This is the worst I've felt in along time and not sure what's causing the problem. Wasn't feeling good on the Synthroid either but these symptoms weren't as bad since I've switched to the Armour.

Avatar n tn Dear Gimel, I have taken Armour Thyroid for years in USA -- am now residing in south Kerala state, India. Can you please send me info about how to purchase Forrest Labs Armour Thyroid here in India? Thank you!
Avatar f tn What is you dose of Armour? Were you not tested for Free T3 before changing your med to Armour? If not, then you should make sure they always test for both Free T4 and Free T3 each time you go in for tests. If the doctor resists, just insist on it and don't take no for an answer. Also be aware that TSH frequently becomes suppressed when taking adequate doses of thyroid med.
Avatar f tn I have had low thyroid for over 25 years. My first 22 years I was prescribed Armour Thyroid and did quite well on it most recently taking 90mg. Armour is not covered by insurance so eventually my doctor recommended I switch to Levothyroxin 100 mcg. After taking it for 2 years I gradually noticed symptoms returning, loss of hair, no energy, extremely dry skin and moderate weight gain. My new doc ran a thyroid panel: TSH 2.17, T4 was 10.3, T3 uptake 31.9, T3 total 68 (low).
209384 tn?1231168306 So I've been on the Armour now for almost a week and the one big difference is the amount of swelling. It has gone down drastically. My mom even said tonight that my face was starting to look like me again. It has stayed so swollen that you could say I've been moon faced. Just like if I'd been on steroids. Even my nose is getting back to normal! YEAH!!! My hands, feet, and stomach have gone down a lot also. Also seems that my diabetes meds are working better.
1018337 tn?1251567540 We made the switch to Armour from Synthroid due to her need for t3. She had been left hypo for several years by a pediatric endo. who was " numbers driven" She ignored many symptoms for far too long. Finally the symptom of heart issues (83 pvc's in 20 days) slapped us all in the face. This was my wake up call!!! Now we are on Naturethroid for one month. Anxious to see labs in a few weeks. Still think she is under dosed, but she is slowly beginning to feel better.
Avatar n tn Please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report from when you were on Armour and any other test results since. Please review the following list of typical hypothyroid symptoms and tell us which ones you had when on Armour, if any. Also which symptoms do you have now besides the ones you mentioned? Fatigue Increased sensitivity to cold (temp. below 98.
581310 tn?1253029550 ve had migraines for approx 50 years, and have taken Armour thyroid medication for over twenty years. The headaches are sort of like the thunder in the song: they come and they go-o. Never have figured out why, but have learned to deal with them. Once went three years without one.
Avatar f tn Hi, Which one do you think is better, synthroid which is artificial hormone or armour thyroid which is bioidentical. Is anyone taking armour thyroid? Can anyone compare it's effect.

Avatar f tn First - thyroid supplementation is for an underactive thyroid, bot an overactive thyroid. Both Armour Thyroid and levothyroxine are thyroid supplements - levothyroxine is T4, which is the form of hormone produced by the thyroid gland, and which is converted to the active T3 form. Armour Thyroid contains both T4 and T3. Some patients don't seem to convert T4 to T3 quite the way they should and this may explain why some feel better on Armour Thyroid.
Avatar f tn Why is it that doctors insist that you do NOT have to fast for thyroid labs? Both my doctor and my husband's doctor said there was no need to do so because the thyroid med is already in your system so it doesn't make a difference. Is this what all doctors believe or are there some who will recommend to fast? My husband is convinced that he won't need yo fast when he gets his next labs drawn.
Avatar f tn So you need to talk to the doctor about getting tested for Free T3, and make sure they do that every time you go in for tests. Also ask for an increase of the Armour to 60 mg daily. A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypothyroid patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T4 and Free T3 as needed to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results.
