489786 tn?1255692879 Has anyone been on armour thyroid and had a successful pregnancy? I am currently on 4 grains of armour. I don't have a thyroid. I just suffered a miscarraige. The doctors are doing lots of testing to determine why I miscarried. I was searching for a succesful pregnancy story and someone that took armour thryoid while pregnant.
Avatar n tn There is no evidence that a TSH in this range is harmful to your pregnancy. In most cases we would re-evaluate thyroid function 4-6 weeks after delivery, but not use thyroid medications for such levels.
Avatar m tn Your thyroid levels are important to a developing baby. I can't recall all the issues; however, you do need to have your TSH monitored every 4-6 when you're pg and take your meds regularly. I have been on synthroid through 3 pgs one of which ended in a m/c (don't know if thyroid was to blame or not). Please get re-checked and start back on your meds.
Avatar m tn t4 support, and the Endo would NOT let me try Armour. Was then taken off of Cytomel when became pregnant in 2011 as she felt it would hurt my pregnancy...ridiculous I know. In 2012 I paid out of pocket to see a D.O. as it was the only Dr. I could find to let me try Armour, but each year I would have to pay that large sum to renew my Rx. I then found a local PCP in 2013 that would prescribe Armour for me, but he does not really know how to dose based on the test results.
Avatar m tn s your body rebalancing after the pregnancy. However, your FT4 looks like you might need an increase in your Armour. Ask your doctor if he's testing FT3 as well. FT3 is the test that correlates best with symptoms. Furthermore, Armour contains T3, so levels should be being monitored. If he hasn't tested FT3, I'd ask him to repeat FT4 and TSH adding FT3.
Avatar n tn I too live in India and need Armour thyroid or equivalent natural dessicated thyroid. Please send me the information on how to buy it here in Delhi.
Avatar f tn In December 2010 I began using Thyroid Plus -a thyroid support supplement with a bit of bovine thyroid in it. After about a week of taking it, I began to feel the hypo symptoms melting away. -I had more energy, I was sleeping better, and my joints and muscles no longer hurt. Also, the palpitations disappeared. That lasted about 6 weeks, and then the hypo symptoms came back and my thyroid started to enlarge. The I was started on the levothyroxine.
Avatar f tn My wife has been unable to find a good thyroid dr. In the Madison area. Her last endo who we had good luck with who added T3 along with T4 and made progress with retired. Replacement endo is TSH freak. Took my wife off T3 and she is feeling like crap! If you do find a good Dr in Madison area please private message me!!!! Even one that will prescribe Armour as maybe my wife would do well on that. I actually have a name for dean care. But that is outside my HMO.
Avatar f tn I take armour, have goiter. I have taken thyroid meds for over 20 years. I went to bed with gray hair and woke with reddish/copper-ish color in hair along forehead and some on sides. Has anyone out there had such a thing from having thyroid problems..too much or too little activity in thyroid?
Avatar f tn I am 20 weeks pregnant and currently taking 1 grain of armour thyroid (which I have been on for over 20+ years and have done well on - I had a short spell on levo and had terrible hypo symptoms). I had a thyroid panel at around 6 weeks and test results were all normal. I went back in for another test since I've been feeling tired and getting headaches (similar to when hypo) and concerned over the recent reformulation of armour. My TSH came back as 1.31 up from 0.60 at the 6 week test.
Avatar m tn And that many people are reporting that they do not feel as well. One woman said she changed from Armour to Nature Thyroid and she immediately felt better and stated taht others are reporting similar issues with Armour. I have noticed my wife has been having fatigue symptoms that are reminicent of when she was very Hypo. This despite her fairly recently having her Armour dosage increased (she is on 3 grains - 180 mgs per day split dose). So the rumor would fit what I have seen in my wife.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Levoxyl (levothyroxine) 125mcg for over 10 years and have gain almost 100 pounds. As I understand it, Armour is to be used in conjunction with the other thyroid meds and monitored closely, since it is a sythetic harmone replacement. However, weight gain is part of the game and I've been reading these boards. Dr. Lupo will tell you otherwise but I don't think the medical world knows or wants to put the two together.
Avatar f tn I recently was switched to armour thyroid due to my T3 being to low..I took 60mg for 1 month repeated bloodwork my T3 came up a little to 97 but now my TSH is 4.0 was 1.34. Just got increased to 90mg.. My question is I am still very tired and wondering how long this will take to get right dosage. I read alot on internet about armour but still skeptical since most patients are treated with synthetics.. Any thoughts on this?
489786 tn?1255692879 I am starting the compounded T4/T3 tomorrow in place of armour thyroid. I was wondering if anyone else has changed over to this and any successs you have had with the change. My dr. says everyone she has changed feels better immediatly-including her. I hope I am one of those people! I will also keep you posted on how I am feeling once I start tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any questions.
327369 tn?1326119908 Yes, Armour will help with the T3 issue. I don't know that I'd want to start at a full grain, though, because that's 9 mcg of T3 med. You might not be able to tolerate that much to start. Most people on T3 med find it best to split the dose into more than one dose/day... such as 1/2 in the morning, 1/2 around noon. I'm not sure about the T3 in Armour, but I know synthetic T3's do not have to be taken on an empty stomach, like T4 meds do.
883575 tn?1240688480 It is the natural form of thyroid hormone like Armour, but it is the most hypo-allergenic one on the market. It is a combo med with both T4 and T3.....worth a shot to ask dr if you can try it. It is miserable to live hypo. Don't give up hope.....just keep searching!
Avatar n tn i was on levothyroxin 75mcg and my tsh was 2.00 now i switch to armour 3 months ago 60mg and now i have a tsh of 4.51. the doc says thats fine. but i still feel tired and and sore muscles all the time. should i go back to levothyroxin?
Avatar f tn The ingredient is Thyroid Extract USP powder which is the same thyroid extract used in Armour Thyroid tablets. A compounding pharmacist makes up the prescription in store. I could see the powder through the clear capsule.
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced itching in the last few months with Armour. I have been on it for over 3 years with good results. Then recently started experiencing nocturnal itching and hot flashes. Switched to Synthroid for one day- both improved . Decided that I wanted to stick with desiccated thyroid and after being on Synthroid for one day took Nature thyroid for one day. I feel that the itching is returning. What is going on?? It's supposed to be hypoallergenic?
Avatar m tn did also lower the Armour, Back in December of 2017 he kept her Armour at 180mg and added 25 mcg. then in March of 2017 (4 months later) lowered her Armour to 150 mg and upped the T4 to 50 mcg. These changes resulted in a small increase in FT4 level, and ultimately a lowering of the FT3 level. made her feel worse and she remained TSH supressed and no change in heart rate. In June 2017 he agreed that the reduction was not working and asked where she had remembered feeling the best.
Avatar m tn I am not addvertising for this outfit nor do I know anything about them but did receive in the mail an add for armour thyroid. They are in Canada. Please send me a message for more information.
1230197 tn?1365007794 I am experiencing fullness in my throat. Kind of hard to explain. Should I stop my Armour (15mg 2x a day) to see if it's the Armour doing it? Kind of scared to stop though. I don't want to have any weird symptoms like nervousness etc. What does one do??
Avatar n tn Hard to have any suggestions without more info from you. What dosage of Armour Thyroid daily? What are these severe symptoms? Please post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
