Anxiety symptoms and menopause

Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety symptoms and menopause

Avatar f tn While they say that a woman will often have the same ease or trouble their mother had at the time, for me that has not been true. My mother and half sister both went smoothly and easily into menopause with almost no symptoms but I've been hit extremely hard with perimenopause. I understand that many of the extreme symptoms experienced during perimenopause fade away after menopause.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing a lot of anxiety, nervousness, mood swings and body aches and pains. Is is possible that I am experiencing menopause, or is that impossible?
Avatar f tn It's possible for fluctuations to occur in FSH and LH levels and therefore, we can have clinical symptoms while our blood tests are telling us something different. FSH levels are "guides" but, not necessarily absolutes. At 37, it's very possible that you're not necessarily menopausal but, in the pre-years (Perimenopausal) and therefore, there can be wild fluctuations from menopausal levels back to pre-menopausal. Other aspects of our lives (ie: stress, diet, exercise etc.
Avatar n tn I started early in menopause. I started into menopause in my twenties. I had a hysterectomy and had one ovary removed. I have not gained weight as long as I keep exercising. I had to start on estrogen and then both estrogen and testosterone(estratest). I only noticed the hot flashes. I was irritable but it was for other reasons, not menopausal.
Avatar f tn I am 49 years old and having major anxiety/depression problems going on. My doctor performed a test to see if I was in menopause. It showed that I was not. My question is this: Can the test read no when I am actually going through menopause? Thanks you!
Avatar f tn In January I have abdominal swelling every day. I thought that maybe menopause was causing all these symptoms, there I had hormonial test done my FSH is at 22.2 Estradiol 1155, Cortisol 518. I also had a vaginal ultrasound done which showed that the lining was 1.6 thickness therefore last week I had a biopsy done. I am at a lost totally not in control of my body - the angioedma seem worst two weeks prior to my period therefore I was under the impression that it could be linked to the hormones.

171791 tn?1358217981 I havent had a period in 2 yrs and I have had the blood test in which it showed I am going through menopause. I am 49 and feel like I am having a nervous breakdown. I have to work and am finding it harder and harder to get through a day.
Avatar n tn I got myslef some all natural products for my anxiety and menopause as any prescriptions I had had didn't seem to help much. I am using Womans Choice, Xtra Cal, Roseox and Relax now. I have been using them for a couple of months and my stress levels and menopausal symptoms have gone way down. I am sleeping pretty well most nights, just the odd night with a bit of a flush but nothing like i had previously. I asked my doctor and he said that if they are working for me then stick with them.
Avatar f tn Hi I think those are common menopause symptoms. Don't be scared. Every woman has to go through these stages. For me, those things happen to me over 2 years. I am feeling sad for no reason very often. Among my friends, one feels scared, no secured even in day time. A few got so sensitive, so easy to get mad, could not go along with colleagues. In near future, your bones and joints will be getting weaker. Please, check with your doc and take calcium and other necessaries.
Avatar n tn I received an estrogen injection last week but have been having symptoms of rapid heartbeat, anxiety, tingling etc...had ekg and blood work and no heart involvement. Anyone else have similar experience. I got really elevated heart rate excercising tonight, which I do regularly.....I have tried to reduce caffiene but had more today.
Avatar f tn Ive already experienced what i believe is pre menopause symptoms, but could the worsening anxiety and panic attacks be part of full on menopause?
Avatar f tn Does anybody know if their anxiety started during menopause and what you did about it?
Avatar f tn To combat the horrible anxiety and mood swings, I take black cohosh, evening primrose oil, magnesium citrate and chaste berry. I think it's helping but have only taken all this for 2 weeks so it may take longer to work. Does anyone have any tips for me on how they managed during this awful time?
Avatar n tn My body tenses up and I feel restless and unable to focus. I have also developed clautrophobia and fear of being trapped in traffic or other closed in spaces. I also have depression some months and that may also get severe. I sought help, but in the process I also admitted to daily mariuanna use for 10+ years, that I see getting worse as my emotional issues grow.
16539680 tn?1448935990 Hi, I had all of those symptoms along with hot flashes and sleeplessness. My doctor gave me a low dose of an anti depression and it did wonders for my anxiety, weepy and and uneasy feelings. Good luck!
159785 tn?1276229625 I always pictured menopause as dealing with hot flashes and other female symptoms --- NOT feeling like getting run over by a truck! I wake up over and over at night, not just with the hot flashes, but with an emotional as well as physical feeling that actually creeps up my body, like my skin is crawling, accompanied with a terrible panicky feeling. I paid attention to the feeling this morning, and figured out what it's like.
440728 tn?1234648902 I too had extreme mental, emotional and physical symptoms the last 5 years of pre menopause with the final year being the worst. I finally got the hormone therapy down as it's a delicate dance to get each day's dosage accurate. You really have to be in tune with your body and know when your new cycle begins and ends. Yes we still have a chemical cycle even though we no longer ovulate. I too started in my late thirties and finally ended in my late forties.
Avatar f tn Many women get anxiety w menopause, I had a bso 3 weeks ago and so far only medium night sweats (its not as severe as some peoples sound) Im curious though yousaid you discontinued prozac,,did you slowly wean yourself off or just stop cold is possible in either case (but especially if you did not stop slowly) that being off prozac is not the right choice for you at this time.
1710279 tn?1314104529 I've been reading the menopause comments and I'm familiar with everyone's symptoms. Especially Jean 72253. My problems started in Aug 2011. Out of the blue I started getting very nervous, anxious and depressed. It was so bad my hands would shake uncontrollably and I cried all the time. I went to my doctor and she seem to think it was anxiety and depression from loosing my father 5 months earlier. She put me on Wellbutrin XL which seem to help for a while.
937868 tn?1379188559 Also my medications for anxiety and depresion are not working well and i cry a lot, also have panic attacks. Can anybody tell me uf these hot flashes are normal and also my emotional state?.
1052292 tn?1274460692 She was a great listener and seemed to be very knowledgeable about menopause and thyroid issues. She sent me to the lab to have blood drawn and is checking my hormone levels but is also actually going to check my Free T3 and Free T4 as well as the TSH. I was in shock and so happy when she said that. She started talking about seeing how my body was converting and all the other lingo I read here on the board and that made me feel so good.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone else had experienced any extreme symptoms leading up to menopause. I missed my period in January, got it twice in February and have not had it since. I have very minor/brief hot flashes. The gynocologist recommended Remifemin. The only medicine I take is Minocycline twice a week for a skin reddening condition called Rosacea. I take vitamins. Thanks for any imput!
1258539 tn?1293843802 The hysterectomy tossed your wife into "surgical menopause".Every one of the symptoms you described are from that. I've been there and done that. Hopefully she has a good GYN MD who will 1st run all her hormone levels, including a testosterone level. Once they do that, they can order the correct hormone replacement to help with her symptoms...including her lack of sex drive (which she once had). It's NOT anything you've done.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else who is experiencing symptoms of menopause, also have this terrible anxiety and panic-like feelings? I am afraid also of having a full-blown panic attack in front of everyone.
Avatar n tn I had 36 of the 34 symptoms of menopause, and was debilitated! I deplore medicine of any kind, but finally went to my Ob/Gyn for help. I've been on progesterone and an estrogen patch for the past 7 months or so with amazing results. I am also taking trazadone for help with sleep. I'm not sure why some women experience horrifying symptoms, and was frustrated by the lack of understanding - not only in the medical profession, but in the "sisterhood" at large.
Avatar f tn I also have extreme sweating and hot flashes not related to menopause, as I had bloodwork and it does not indicate even premonopause.I am worried about the hot flashes and sweating, but much bloodwork has been done and doesn't show any reasons why at this point.
Avatar n tn When I was very stressed ( a really traumatic event was happening in my life and I tried to minimize it and so the stress was building up because I wasn't dealing with it) I got really sick with stress and anxiety and then depression followed.
