Common Questions and Answers about Actonel with calcium dosage

actonel

Avatar n tn I would suggest that you proceed with the calcium supplementation and talk to your doctor about retesting the levels of calcium after about a month to see if this would come up. After that, then you may already have no contraindications is using Actonel. All of these drugs and supplements may aid in preventing side effects of aromasin such as that of further lowering of bone mineral density and bone pains.
Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar f tn Nexium also affects vitamin B12 levels because the body can’t absorb the vitamin without stomach acid to uncouple the vitamin from protein in food. It also affects the absorption of calcium, which in turn can lead to osteoporosis and fractures. Discuss your concerns with your doctor before stopping any medication. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn prolia may cause low calcium levels, especially if you have kidney problems. Take calcium and vitamin D as directed by your doctor. (See also How to Use section.) Your doctor will order calcium blood tests before your first injection and during treatment.
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with MS in 1985 and it is now the Secondary Progressive type, (Slowly progressive) I have a history of medication intolerance. Medications are ether slow to metabolize or be eliminated. Whatever the cause, I develop toxic, life-threatening symptoms on very small doses. I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day.
Avatar n tn i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . 200220 tn?1361951554 How much calcium is too uch with Hashimoto or any thyroid problem. I noticed on my one supplement called OsteoSheath 4 it is a gluten free calcium supplement, it has 1221mg of calcium (microystalline hydroxyepattie) and of course other things. I would think the holistic doctor that gave me this supplement wouldn't give it to me if it would endanger my thyroid. I take it in the afternoon and supper time. What do you think. does anybody know or had experience with calcium?
294425 tn?1288528395 Symptoms of parathyroid disease do NOT correlate with the level of calcium in the blood. Many patients with only slightly elevated calcium and parathyroid hormone will have BAD symptoms and develop severe osteoporosis. 4. All patients with parathyroid disease have calcium levels and PTH levels that go up and down. Fluctuating levels of calcium are typical of parathyroid disease. 5. All patients with hyperparathyroidism will develop osteoporosis. ALL. 6.
Avatar f tn it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar n tn Last night when I was taking my colace I noticed it had calcium and then I thought Oh no I hope thats not messing with my calcium # I was not aware it contained calcium and I know I checked the bottle before.
Avatar m tn I am just abit confused with the dosage I should be taking, on the label it says 5 capsules each day for 3 days! This seems like a very high dosage but I am not too sure. Also, what happens after 3 days as he has only perscribed me 15 capsules? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Well you can actually manage IBS with your diet so read some websites on "IBS diet" and you will learn a lot. Also constipation can be relieved by fibre yes, but better yet if that doesn't work is take magnesium (citrate or chelate) with meals and calcium. Calcium and magnesium go together as calcium has a relaxing yet constipating factor and magnesium has a relaxing effect that gets the bowels moving wonderfully.
Avatar n tn Thyroida, Have you had your parathyroids checked, maybe there is a problem with calcium metabolism / regulation in your body? Ever had thyroid surgery that may have affected your parathyroids?
Avatar n tn I have to take calcium three times a day, so it is hard for me to take my thyroid at a time that is 2 hours before or after calcium. I take my thyroid with my calcium in the morning. My dosage was regulated while I was doing that. If you change the way you take your medicine, expect to have to have it adjusted. My endo. keeps me regulated to the nth degree.
1026267 tn?1257591273 Already I am not able to take my Prevacid the way it should be taken because it will interfer with the Synthroid. Boniva would complicate my pill schedule even more. I am just not sold on the fact that I need to take it. There is no history of ostero in my family and I wonder if I can do the same thing with food. It seems to me it is not a sure thing, just a precaution. What is your take on this?
8793709 tn?1409594060 Take it with a meal, but not at the same time as your pill with iron. Calcium can interfere with iron absorption. I have chewy gummy calcium pills.
Avatar m tn t have a malfunctioning parathyroid - because excess calcium from pills etc. can give you a heart attack or stroke along with organ damage and kidney stones. Be very careful. Checking calcium is easy and fairly cheap. And if you have a parathyroid problem, do NOT take vitamin D. If you have low vitamin D in your blood and high calcium, do not try to enter more vitamin D into your diet. If you do, you put yourself at substantial risk for a stroke.
Avatar f tn Many of our members report on adverse reaction to such a large dosage. I suggest that you discuss with the doctor and reconsider the starting dosage.
Avatar f tn -/ exactly my point with these doctors in our town. However after reading your posts I upped my vitamin in-take of calcium and Vitamin D3 and it sounds stupid but in a matter of a few hours my body became less achy and sore. I am also breastfeeding so I'm wondering if I was just completely lacking on these vitamins.
Avatar m tn so im trying to get off nexium so i bought some dgl the exact one i got is dgl ultra by enzymatic therapy german chocolate flavored each tablet is 400mg i wanted to know what other peoples dosage habits are like with dgl whats the max you should take..what dosage do you take that seems to help anything else i should know?
Avatar n tn I had the same leg cramps and found it was parathyroid damage and I now have to supplement Calcium and Vit D. Unfortunately I have struggled with hypo symptoms as well and couldn't find a doctor to try anything besides upping the Synthroid. I am on my 5th doctor after 18 months since surgery - I believe I have found the right one this time. They believe in getting your levels to optimal not just within normal range. Best of luck to you, be patient and don't give up.
