Avatar n tn So calcium supplements are prescribed along with femara. There are few studies that do suggest that calcium supplements increase the risk of heart attacks. Discuss it with your doctor. Any drug should be taken only if the advantages outweigh the potential risks involved in taking it. We all differ in our body requirements and needs so have a frank discussion with your treating physician if dietary supplementation of calcium will be really helpful. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Avatar f tn Boy, been down this road. ENT docs all had me on Nexium on and off. Was told to stay on it. After about 3 months, was having bad low back pain and pain on the top of both thighs. I then had a left rib fracture of unknown cause. At that time, no side effects like this were published. I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone.
1026267 tn?1257591273 If you do weight bearing exersise and take regular calcium through your diet or an added over the counter supplement, and Vit D, and you have had your calcium levels check and they are ok too, then there shouldn't be any need to take the Boniva, daily or monthly! Have you had calcium levels checked, not just the bone density testing?
Avatar m tn Hello. I have celiac disease, a salicylate intolerance AND milk allergy. My blood test showed my milk allergy is considered moderate. I am currently taking NOW foods calcium carbonate powder because it's free of gluten..supposedly free of dairy..and it's pure mineral so it doesn't effect my salicylate intolerance (which comes from plants). I re-introduced turnip into my diet recently but i also started using this calcium powder at the same time.
237053 tn?1258828426 Has anyone else heard that taking magnesium and calcium supplements can limit the effectiveness of Doxycycline? Avatar f tn Hi, I have Hashimoto's and I would like advice regarding some supplements I want to take and if it's a good idea to take them now. The only reason I ask is really because my 6-week thyroid blood test is in two weeks' time and as I haven't taken any supplements since being on the 50mcg Levothyroxine I'm worried that by taking the supplements now the results of my thyroid blood test may be skewed.

974371 tn?1424653129 Just today I had read that Calcium and Vit D may contribute to the formation of kidney stones, both of which my Endocronologist has prescribed for my Osteoporosis. I see her on Friday for thyroid nodule follow up. The doctor I saw today dies not agree with the high doses. It is a concern because every time they do these tests they always mention the spine degeneration, ESP at L2and L3. I also have it in my neck. So, what do I do?

Avatar f tn you should also take vitamin d and calcium and make levels at least 60ng/ml, both are connected with immune system and a high vitamin d helps immune system to work better although it won t clear hbv also keep a close eye on gcmaf since it cures osteoporosis and hopefully clears hbv too once nagalase drops to healthy levels and immune system keeps working as it does in healthy people osteoporosis is common on liver diseases and is due to the effect of the virus on immune system increasing naga
581954 tn?1223391496 Definitely extra calcium and hi-potency B vitamins. Calcium is a natural soother while the B vitamins are great for stress & anxiety. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this on the forums but I highly recommend the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th Edition (Paperback) by Phyllis A. Balch. It is my BIBLE. Talks about all vitamins, minerals, some therapies, and of course over 300 conditions.

Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
