Actonel with calcium discontinued

Common Questions and Answers about Actonel with calcium discontinued

actonel

Avatar n tn I would suggest that you proceed with the calcium supplementation and talk to your doctor about retesting the levels of calcium after about a month to see if this would come up. After that, then you may already have no contraindications is using Actonel. All of these drugs and supplements may aid in preventing side effects of aromasin such as that of further lowering of bone mineral density and bone pains.
Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar f tn Nexium also affects vitamin B12 levels because the body can’t absorb the vitamin without stomach acid to uncouple the vitamin from protein in food. It also affects the absorption of calcium, which in turn can lead to osteoporosis and fractures. Discuss your concerns with your doctor before stopping any medication. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn prolia may cause low calcium levels, especially if you have kidney problems. Take calcium and vitamin D as directed by your doctor. (See also How to Use section.) Your doctor will order calcium blood tests before your first injection and during treatment.
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with MS in 1985 and it is now the Secondary Progressive type, (Slowly progressive) I have a history of medication intolerance. Medications are ether slow to metabolize or be eliminated. Whatever the cause, I develop toxic, life-threatening symptoms on very small doses. I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day.
Avatar n tn i currnetly am taking actonel for my bones the past 3 years and klonopin i per night and take alot of vitamins such as B compex etc. no alcohol consumption but i do smoke half a pack of cigarettes per day no other medical conditions known 6 months ago all my blood workups were normal . ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN BE GOING ON WITH ME ?
294425 tn?1288528395 Symptoms of parathyroid disease do NOT correlate with the level of calcium in the blood. Many patients with only slightly elevated calcium and parathyroid hormone will have BAD symptoms and develop severe osteoporosis. 4. All patients with parathyroid disease have calcium levels and PTH levels that go up and down. Fluctuating levels of calcium are typical of parathyroid disease. 5. All patients with hyperparathyroidism will develop osteoporosis. ALL. 6.
Avatar f tn it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar n tn Thyroida, Have you had your parathyroids checked, maybe there is a problem with calcium metabolism / regulation in your body? Ever had thyroid surgery that may have affected your parathyroids?
Avatar n tn I ask him about the PTH level being 46 with the high calcium levels. He just said that the parathyroid was not the cause of the high calcium. He said the best case scenerio would be MGUS. I guess my question is twofold. First, even though I have this monoclonal protein would it still be possible for the parathyroid to be causing the high calcium levels? Second, If it was the monoclonal protein or myeloma causing the high calcium levels wouldn't the PTH level be very low?
1026267 tn?1257591273 Already I am not able to take my Prevacid the way it should be taken because it will interfer with the Synthroid. Boniva would complicate my pill schedule even more. I am just not sold on the fact that I need to take it. There is no history of ostero in my family and I wonder if I can do the same thing with food. It seems to me it is not a sure thing, just a precaution. What is your take on this?
Avatar m tn t have a malfunctioning parathyroid - because excess calcium from pills etc. can give you a heart attack or stroke along with organ damage and kidney stones. Be very careful. Checking calcium is easy and fairly cheap. And if you have a parathyroid problem, do NOT take vitamin D. If you have low vitamin D in your blood and high calcium, do not try to enter more vitamin D into your diet. If you do, you put yourself at substantial risk for a stroke.
Avatar f tn My PA who ordered my bone DEXA scan (since I have osteopenia), had ordered it because it had been 2 yrs since my last one. I had it done on Tues. and they called me today saying that my bone density had worsened and now I'm considered advanced osteopenia 'right before osteoporosis'. They want me to come in to talk to her about further treatment, more aggressive treatment'. My husband thinks that since I just had the 3 mon.
Avatar f tn In 2010 I had my PTH blood test. At the time I was taking calcium 2720mg with 3600IU vit D. *However I always fast 13 hrs before all blood tests* PTH-I 55.9 pg/ml Calcium 9.1 mg/DL Vit d 25OH 51 ng/ml Vit D 25OHD2 <4 ng/ml (indicates both endogenous (diet) and supplementation sources.) This past year my calcium and D was reduced and I stopped taking the calcium and multi-viamin for 2 weeks before this test.
Avatar f tn P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc. Is there any other calcium blocker that doesn't cause swelling?
Avatar f tn I have heard that other people have experienced very good results with the use of magnisium + calcium in the reduction of arrythmias. I can just suppose, it may be a possibility that I was not deficient in either of these nutrients. As a matter of fact, just last year, I had a blood test that showed that I have a slightly high level of blood calcium and was informed by my doctor to not take calcium supplements (That may be why it didn't help me. I already had high levels of calcium).
Avatar f tn As I have osteoporosis besides hep b, I have been taking Actonel 35mg for 5 years with little improvements and my doctor added now Evister for about 6 months. But I feel that those medicines are not helping me at all and may be they are damaging my already infected liver. So I decided to drop them and take instead vitamin k-2 (Menatetrenone (MK-4)) and I found this article and similar ones in internet. http://www.aor.ca/assets/Research/pdf/Advances_10_May_2006_Menatetrenone.
Avatar f tn I am concerned but dont want to be the over bearing freak mom in the drs office every day. My gut feeling has always been that there is something else going on with his health? Any suggestions as to what migt be going on and where to start? Thanks for the input!
Avatar f tn She was refusing until I made such a big stink, she agreed just to get rid of me. It came out as 165 with my calcium at 11.1 at the time. Her excuse afterwards? 'Nobody EVER tests positive for that'. Puh. Two weeks later, I'd been whisked through an endocrinologist, many scans, and had surgery by a good parathyroid surgeon. It was unbelievable how much better I felt. I felt young again. I didn't hurt.
