Avatar n tn Have a skin rash on small section of left arm have been working out and sweating all over body. This discussion is related to Skin Rash on arms.
Avatar n tn The patch has a rough texture in comparision of the surrounding skin. And upon rubbing the region, some layers of skin (dead skin, rough like big flakes of dandruff) also come off. I am quite worried about this. Can somebody help?
Avatar f tn I have recently developed a severe rash over my legs and arms. It might not be related to my condition, but a heat rash, as I live in Las Vegas and am constantly in the sun. I have lived her for over 40yrs and never experienced it before. Recently I stayed indoors for about 4 d ays and it eased off, but when I had to out yesterday it came back. I have been using chalomine lotion on it which helps a bit and also hydrocortisone.
Avatar n tn Millaria is especially common in children and infants due to their underdeveloped sweat glands and is found in hot climate. Pityriasis alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. No treatment is required and the patches in time will settle in due course of time. The redness, scale and itch if present may be managed with simple emollients and sometimes hydrocortisone, a weak steroid, is also used.
Avatar m tn A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin. Boil on buttocks is usually due to plugged sweat glands that become infected or by an ingrown hair.
Avatar n tn Prickly heat (miliaria) is an itchy skin rash caused by trapped sweat. It tends to occur on areas of the body where skin touches skin, such as under the breasts, on the inner thighs, and under the arms. Tiny red spots with itching and pricking sensation are the characteristic appearance of this rash. Avoid using any lotions and creams for the meantime.Use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil.
Avatar n tn Showering several times a day when exposure to heat is unavoidable can help clear sweat glands. As new skin develops, prickly heat will be relieved on its own in most cases, because the ducts eventually clear themselves. Often, prickly heat develops on the body in areas with a high number of sweat glands, or where skin overlaps. It can be present on the groin, under the knees, in the underarms, or elsewhere.
Avatar n tn I am an avid cyclist, and when I ride, I sweat a lot and there is certainly some rubbing in my groin area. The rash started only on the right side, and in the last 2 days has moved to the left side, also. It is red and itchy, and sometimes there are small pustules. I thought it was jock itch and tried Tinactin, then Lotrimin, and then Lamisil. Nothing seemed to help much except for the Lamisil; however, after 3 days, the Lamisil seemed to be making it worse.
Avatar m tn I have this rash on my penis. It is skin colored little bumps mostly on my scrotum and underside of my penis. It does not really itch. If it does it is when I am sweating. I was told on this website it was sweat buildup but i have worn boxers to prevent sweating but it has not worked. I have not told my mom but she schedualed a checkup around my birthday. It will be pretty embarrasing. Any idea on what i should do or what the cure is for my rash? thanks a lot!!
1847172 tn?1319047269 Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and itching. Topical and oral steroids are needed. Water, sweat, and soap may cause irritation and should be avoided in the disease. Topical zinc oxide and calamine lotion are useful for pruritus. Initially, a primary plaque, called a herald patch, is seen.
Avatar m tn You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or calamine lotion or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. If the rash is itchy, you can take some antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. If the symptoms persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Antifungals may be needed. I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but the symptoms are suggestive of prickly heat(malaria) or sweat dermatitis. Prickly heat (miliaria) is an itchy skin rash caused by trapped sweat. It tends to occur on areas of the body where skin touches skin, such as under the breasts, on the inner thighs, and under the arms. Tiny red spots with itching and pricking sensation are the characteristic appearance of this rash.
Avatar f tn Also use cotton clothes and change the clothes twice if there is any increased sweating. Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort. For the itching antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin can be given. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
