Basically, my son receives a daily methadone dose and also gets a script for klonipin. The catch is, he has adhd, and the klonipin gives my son the feeling that he is on speed. It is complete chaos when he's high on benzodiazepines. I am at a loss. He is a thirty year old man and has four children. He is undergoing treatment for hepatitis c as well. So, the drug interferon is being used on him.
I always think if I can sleep through the bad times I can make it but the only sleep I can get is if I take xanax or somas. Was out of xanax and broke down and took somas. I had not been taking them. So now I have let myself down. I swear, I hate this stuff!! I hate it so much. The last time I had bad reactions to methadone I went a good while without pain meds or xanax but this time, I have been in such pain I took the pain meds the doc. gave me for my shoulder.
Depression maybe existed before the long term heroin and benzodiazepines abuse but came up after all that....or had been present and led to substance abuse, since i've tried everything in my life. My shrink has started working with me to resolve some depression that was coming along with benzos and things, as well as he, as a person and doctor. Help!!I cannot take it anymore.. I am 7 weeks now on Zoloft (100mg) once every morning (in order to be able to fall asleep every night!!
I really hope this will help!
So I have been on methadone for the past 5 years and have gotten my life on track. I dont do ANY drugs, inlcluding alcohol and I have passed every drug test at my clinic since my admission date. I have straight A's at a university and was recently inducted into the honors society. I have a great home and a wonderful fiance. I made a very poor decision to start using opiates in the first place but I have done everything in my power to get my life turned around.
Frankly, she is in a terrible place, and a lot of suffering, determination, and support is, and will be, in the future to get her completely off methadone. You both should learn, make decisions, formulate a plan, including aftercare, and execute the plan. Sounds easy, but it is not. The first step is knowledge. That, knowledge, is my best advice. Sorry no-one has replied to your post yet, but believe me, thare are many. many wonderful people on here who care and will help.
My friend has been on clonipins for 10 yrs and was going to a methadone clinic about 3 yrs ago and both we're legal and her Dr. knew so I'm not 100% sure if it's ok, but I do know she was taking both by presciption...You could also try contacting a pharmacy and they may know or call poison control and ask them they may only tell you if you've already taken it.
I am nor sure I understand the question regarding the methadone and the oxycodone. is he prescribed both? is he in a methadone program and taking the oxycodone and benzos? It is very important for him to talk to his Doctor and tell him honestly what he has been taking and what dosage so the Doctor can help him ween off at a safe rate. it is not advisable to do this himself, he really needs the Doctor's assistance in tapering off these medications.
I have read how much messing with opiates with benzodiazepines is dangerous. I am not experiencing any difficulty breathing, and no sleepyness that is not normal. Was this a safe thing to do?
yeah u are on a relatively low dose of temezepam and the best news is that you are at the cut off level for being able to switch to suboxone, you need to be on 30mgs or less of methadone to be able tos witch over otherwise bad bad wds unimaginable will occur..
I can say now that I finally remember what emotions are again. We don't realize it as the methadone cuts us off from friends, family, and ourselves. My 8 and 10 yr old children said that i am more present now and listen to them more. Keep your eye on the prize not the pain. Read other peoples posts, watch a move, just keep your mind off how bad you feel, it makes it worse. Good luck and keep us posted.
I was on oxy for a long time before I ever took a methadone and ya, methadone can get you pretty lit if you take a lot and it would probably appear just as if hes on oxy. As gnarly said if hes nodding out hes taking too much.
She even went on antidepressents to help, but when she went down only 3 mg, she was freaking out and decided to go back up. Then she found a website about methadone and the people in the forum there promote staying on it forever. They actually compare methadone to insulin, and when people go there asking questions about detoxing they get angry at calling it "detoxing" ("you wouldn't detox from insulin would you?") and they give the person reasons to stay on it.
how many had success with CT? tapering down and then quitting their DOC? SUB and now off of sub? methadone and now off of methadone? real stories from those who have made the 30 day clean mark from all narcotics and how u got clean...how u felt and advice u would pass on? the toughest time/like the first week/first day etc? what u would do different if u had to do it all over again...?
I currently began going back to a methadone clinic and Ive been there for a week and a half but in that amount of tine I went from 40mgs all the way to 100mg within one week. So I started taking some left over klonopins so I popped them and started to catch a very euphoric rush because of the synergistic effect that causes the opiates and benzodiazepines to mix and interact causing heavy sedation, nodding out.
For him to speak about it and say that he can't imagine being depressed and on methadone is unwarranted and uneducated. I am now on methadone and never uttered a word (except questions) about methadone before I was on it myself. I don't think it's fair or accurate for anyone, including myself, to make blanket statements about drugs that we've never tried. I think this is a case of people valliantly trying to help, even though they know little or nothing of the circumstances.
Hello....I really want to stop with methadone and benzodiazepines. I have tried to tapering down the methadone 150 mg and then I take more diazepam, nitrazepam Xanor (Xanax) flunitrazepam, Oxazepam.... all I can buy at the black marked in Oslo. I also get diazepam, nitrazepam from my doctor, and want to taper down the benzo before the methadone. I believe that is best? I have tried to tapering down my methadone and benz, but need to start serious with my problem.
I am on it for both reasons also and does help a great deal for my pain after 6 back surgery's that little relief I get is taking meds and also knowing that I am not on street and been clean 2 yrs and only on methadone at stable dose of 95mg daily. Whitie your very right about all ppl that are dying from methadone a lot of them are from using xannax at same time. Is scary stuff!
Methadone is a tough drug to come off but there's a lot of people here who gone through and will be able to give you some great hints. What dose were you on and for how long? Have you tapered down?

I'm ok , for now.
contact your doctor and do NOT drive I found this website called HARMD a while ago, the information in this website and the statistics about methadone are scary, and this does cover methadone maintenance and NUMEROUS people that died by taking one illicit 5 or 10 mg dose of methadone, JUST ONE PILL CAN KILL !! and the facts are staggering... if you are interested in any of my research about methadone...just let me know.
Benzodiazepines like Valium, Xanax and Ativan have been shown to lead to lip and palate malformation such as split lip. Alcohol consumption leads to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Pain pills, heroin, methadone and Suboxone, if not tapered during pregnancy, will leave the baby addicted at birth. Cocaine use can lead to insufficient blood supply to the baby and death of the fetus in the womb. If you quit before you are pregnant, none of these will be a concern.
try melatonin it has helped me and detox of methadone and Tylenol pm . never realized how important it is till its gone.
Chronic fatigue, sleeplessness, aches and pains, depression, anxiety, are all signs and symptoms of these deficiencies. Methadone also has profound effects on brain neurotransmitter production and function. It is also known that it creates havoc in what is called the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis…which accounts for the chronic fatigue. And like all opiates, methadone down-regulates opiate receptors in the human body thus the long lasting aches and pains associated with withdrawal.
This class of drugs includes heroin, morphine, codeine, methadone and oxycodone (Oxycontin).
With the amount of oxy he was taken sub might not work, the dose can only go so high and then it actually acts as anti-opiate, the oens used in overdoses, whereas methadone is a full agonist and you can go higher and higher whatever you need to make you comfortable and stable. both give you a mild buzz, and both are complete hell to get off of. sub is just as hard no matter what anyone else says. its just as hard as methadone, its opiate withdrawal times two months. it *****.
It safe to use subutex/subuxone and methadone + benzodiazepines. These drugs are not hard to the liver, and people who take these drugs have the same result to the hep C treatment. In europe you have to use these drugs, and stop with heroine and another drugs who not are controlled by the goverment. When we get these drugs from goverment we also must give urine-test, so they know that you do not use another drugs.
THanks for the info, It doesnt show up on a 5 panel that includes testing for opiates, it has to be specially tested for and on the 10 panel they test for methadone and am worried that sub and methadone my show up the same on a test.
