Avatar f tn I'm a pain patient. I broke my neck some years ago so sustained nerve damage although I am still mobile. I have been on Fentenyl, Oxycontin and now Methadone. I am taking myself off Methadone, with my doctor's knowledge and have been told that my lexapro is a dangerous mix with methadone as well. I stopped titrating down off methadone and now am at 30mgs per day but I am now titrating down my lexapro dose. I'm finding that both drugs are hell to detox from!
Avatar f tn I have several chronic pain conditions and have been on heavy duty pain meds for years. I have been weaning off as fast as I can as I was planning on getting pregnant next year sometime. However... life throws you surprises and well here I am. I am on methadone and morphine. I'm down to only 5-10mg of methadone and 15-30mg of morphine daily. I am still having pain and need some amount to make life tolerable. However I know it's horrible for baby! Any tips?
Avatar f tn What I see is a pattern of self-medicating by you and now you are looking to get on Suboxone for the Methadone and taking Lexapro without a doctor. this is all dangerous behavior and it is a vicious cycle. Have you considered inpatient treatment? I ask because you will need to treat not just for the drugs but for the issues that are leading you to this. Is this something you have thought about?
Avatar m tn I was on methadone for 10 years. While on it I also abused it. My dose for the first 5 or 6 years was 160mg and the last few I was at about 100mg. I also would buy peoples take home bottles when I could and always double my dose when I got my Saturday bottle. During that they me I also abused Xanax for years but the last year I was doing that maybe once a week. I haven't put anything else in my system for about three years.
Avatar f tn I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever used anti-depressants to help them cope with the depression that comes with and after methadone withdrawal. I'm having some depression problems today, day 8 with no methadone. I have some Celexa left over from a couple years ago. I took it for a few months after a very close friend died. The Celexa is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Anyone know anything about this? I'm tempted to take one of the antidepressants.
10619352 tn?1419907977 take a minute to thank God you made it I know all to well just how hard methadone is to detox off of keep us posted on how your doing have a merry Christmas and a clean new years Gnarly
749543 tn?1238832340 I was just discharged from my hospital about 2 days ago. I have this crawling in my skin and curling my spine feeling and it hasn't gone away and its getting worse... The hospital I was at did not give me any detox or start me on any methadone. So I have been sober from pain killers for the past 6 days. Until today. I took a 10MG Hydrocodone. (I was use to taking 4 of those daily for the past year or two along with Oxycontin and Roxicodone) It eased the crawling skin for now.
Avatar n tn Methadone is a horrible trap, and the longer you stay on it, the more likely it is that you will always need to be on it. Methadone IS the lesser of two evils, and I would rather see anyone on methadone than trapped in an addiction that requires so much of your time, energy, and money, BUT please be very careful about getting comfortable on methadone. As soon as you are feeling confident that you will not return to pills, you should begin detoxing.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar f tn Today we both decided to go to our separate doctors and spill the beans. I went to my pcp and told him everything. He prescribed me methadone and clonidine. I want to quit cold turkey. I went to walgreens and purchased a sleep aide. Can anyone tell me how long this will last? I took my last vicodin yesterday at 12 p.m.. I started taking lexapro on Monday and the side effects of the lexapro scared me enough to not take any of the vicodin yesterday. Please help. I am in the alone.
1345272 tn?1276400328 I am currently on methadone and have been for about a year now, and i am dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression. I have been on celexa for about 7 years and the doctor decided that i have become immune to it, so he is putting me on wellburtin. I haven't tried it yet because i havent heard good things so far and am a little worried. I'm also concerned about side effects from taking the two drugs together even though the doctor said it wouldn't be a problem.
689327 tn?1240229164 In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .
Avatar n tn No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Avatar m tn Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Avatar n tn Is lexapro and xanax the same? If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??
Avatar f tn Lexapro is a good drug and that is what i took for detox...got on it 2 weeks before and have stopped it now...for anxiety tho there are different drugs that help a bit more...anxiety and depression seem to be grouped together but are not really the same...when i took lexapro when i was situationally depressed instead of a real chemical imbalance it made me have trouble sleeping and more anxious...
Avatar n tn Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee
1253246 tn?1332073310 Patients who suffer from depression and other mood disorders are often prescribed medications from the drug class known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Lexapro is an SSRI that is commonly prescribed for depression and other mental health disorders. Unfortunately, the use of Lexapro has the potential to cause injury to the liver resulting in hepatitis and elevated liver enzymes. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
396099 tn?1216254986 My best friend was on Effexor...and it was terrible..he switched to Lexapro and it was and is great for him, too. Now, having said all that...I'm not sure starting an SSRI and going through withdrawal at the same time is a good thing...never done it that way, and probably wouldn't want to. But, if you think it's time for the Lexapro...the sooner you start, the better. They wean you onto it the first week up to 10mg.
Avatar m tn Hi all As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression. Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?
Avatar n tn I was taking lexapro and felt it was doing fairly well. Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.
439522 tn?1214951189 Also been through Lexapro and then Celexa. I had no problem getting rid of Lexapro or Celexa. But I wish I could say the same for the vico- but I am living proof that you CAN withdraw c/t and that I did it while working every single day, not missing a day of work and coming home to a house with 4 children.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome! Your doctor prescribed you a common regimen. The Lexapro is an SSRI antidepressant that will take some time to become effective (typically 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 8 weeks, especially when starting on a low dose as you are). The Xanax is a benzodiazepine, anti-anxiety medication that is being Rx'ed to treat the symptoms of anxiety while you're adjusting to the Lexapro, and waiting for it to become effective in reducing your anxiety.
Avatar m tn Stayed off all meds except lexapro for a few months. Now its the Methadone. I havent been taking it for very long but I still think its been long enough where I'm going to go through withdrawels. I take 2 pills a day. one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I want to stop taking it. Its causing me to gain weight and be constipated. Has anyone came down from methadone? or have any suggestions for me???
Avatar n tn if your main symptom is palpitations, then a beta blocker might be more appropriate than Lexapro. But if you had a lot of problems and most have gone away, then stick with the Lexapro -- drugs don't cure, they just mitigate the symptoms. You'll always have symptoms unless you find a cure through some kind of therapy work.
