Avatar f tn Basically, my son receives a daily methadone dose and also gets a script for klonipin. The catch is, he has adhd, and the klonipin gives my son the feeling that he is on speed. It is complete chaos when he's high on benzodiazepines. I am at a loss. He is a thirty year old man and has four children. He is undergoing treatment for hepatitis c as well. So, the drug interferon is being used on him.
Avatar f tn try melatonin it has helped me and detox of methadone and Tylenol pm . never realized how important it is till its gone.
Avatar n tn I have read how much messing with opiates with benzodiazepines is dangerous. I am not experiencing any difficulty breathing, and no sleepyness that is not normal. Was this a safe thing to do?
Avatar f tn I really hope this will help!
Avatar n tn will definitely inquire as to the reason your using methadone and benzodiazepines as the people before said, people can overdose and die of respiratory failure as the two act in a sinergistic manner. Be careful!!!
Avatar m tn m also on Methadone for pain management and I know in the narcotic monitoring system it will show that I have filled a narcotic earlier that day (xanax is a narcotic to) and it will give them an alert message. I'm wondering what the potential reasons are for a perscription to be "blocked". I know in Ontario, Canada every pharmacy is required to use the Narcotic Monitoring System to prevent doctor shopping/multiple scripts.
216046 tn?1193943404 My question is, has anyone heard of lyrica causing withdrawal symptoms when taken w/methadone? I was given Tramadol(Ultram) w/ methadone and thought I was going to die with the interaction it caused!!!
Avatar m tn THanks for the info, It doesnt show up on a 5 panel that includes testing for opiates, it has to be specially tested for and on the 10 panel they test for methadone and am worried that sub and methadone my show up the same on a test.
Avatar m tn I currently began going back to a methadone clinic and Ive been there for a week and a half but in that amount of tine I went from 40mgs all the way to 100mg within one week. So I started taking some left over klonopins so I popped them and started to catch a very euphoric rush because of the synergistic effect that causes the opiates and benzodiazepines to mix and interact causing heavy sedation, nodding out.
Avatar n tn yeah u are on a relatively low dose of temezepam and the best news is that you are at the cut off level for being able to switch to suboxone, you need to be on 30mgs or less of methadone to be able tos witch over otherwise bad bad wds unimaginable will occur..
Avatar m tn ve read so many stories about people mixing benzodiazepines (Valium-Klonopin-Xanax-Ativan) with methadone and simply not waking up. Keep in mind this is stuff I read on the internet, I would definitely try to seek a second opinion or talk to your doctor about the meds your on. At the very least, it might be unsafe.
Avatar f tn Most physicians have little to no experience with (or much knowledge of) methadone and how it works and especially methadone and pregnancy. A doctor must hold special licensing to prescribe methadone for opiate addiction, and have the appropriate opiate-substitution training to do so. Therefore, you may not always get the current or correct advice from a general physician or OB-GYN. Your methadone clinic can't steer you to an OB-GYN with the correct addiction training.
Avatar n tn The only exceptions are THC and benzodiazepines. Oral fluid will likely detect THC from ingestion up to a maximum period of 6–12 hours. Low saliva:plasma ratio continues to cause difficulty in oral fluid detection of THC and benzodiazepines[2] NOTE 2: Rapid oral fluid products are not approved for use in workplace drug testing programs and are not FDA cleared. Using rapid oral fluid drug tests in the workplace is a violation of many state and federal laws.
1021643 tn?1265573848 Hello....I really want to stop with methadone and benzodiazepines. I have tried to tapering down the methadone 150 mg and then I take more diazepam, nitrazepam Xanor (Xanax) flunitrazepam, Oxazepam.... all I can buy at the black marked in Oslo. I also get diazepam, nitrazepam from my doctor, and want to taper down the benzo before the methadone. I believe that is best? I have tried to tapering down my methadone and benz, but need to start serious with my problem.
Avatar f tn Methadone is a tough drug to come off but there's a lot of people here who gone through and will be able to give you some great hints. What dose were you on and for how long? Have you tapered down?
Avatar n tn I have tardive dyskinesia and have taken Klonopin for 10 years and it actually treats it. Have a detailed conversation with your psychiatrist and if they think anything is of concern and if they diagnose that it is treatable (a neurologist who is a movement disorders specialist would follow up) and I could give you more information then.
Avatar n tn Sorry. I don't do IV sedations so I can't answer for sure. There shouldn't be a problem because benzodiazepines are very safe drugs to use. In addition, with IV sedation, the effects of the medication occur very rapidly so your doctor will be able to control the dosage to get the right effect so that you can "sleep" right on through your extraction.
Avatar f tn What I found with my methadone was that my pain could be handled without it. I did smoke weed and am an advocate for that. I came off of heroin with methadone and then tapered off of that. If your wanting off of the opiates ask your doctor for help. They can prescribe non narcotic medication to ease your suffering. They may also prescribe benzodiazepines like Valium, Ativan, klonapin to name a few which would help maybe with your seizure disorder.
Avatar f tn s that little relief I get is taking meds and also knowing that I am not on street and been clean 2 yrs and only on methadone at stable dose of 95mg daily. Whitie your very right about all ppl that are dying from methadone a lot of them are from using xannax at same time. Is scary stuff!
434196 tn?1206385870 I have a friend who is prescribed methadone and 5mg oxycodone. And I always thought methadone was a opioid blocker. So wouldn't that bock the oxycodone??
Avatar m tn I went into treatment to be stabilised on my methadone and detox off the benzodiazepines and zopiclone, crack , heroin,,,it was hell to say the least,,, but I got excellent news while detoxing,, my hep-c is gone, not dormant , not Nd , BUT GONE FOR GOOD , which gave me the push I needed to get stabilised,, I left treatment centre after completing it in full, but still felt so bad my withdrawals were severe and I just isolated myself, I dropped myself to 130 mls and am now down to 80mls but I
Avatar m tn Social Security won`t help, welfare won`t help, free clinic won`t help and the doctor that put me on methadone just called and said he won`t take me back. I have never abused my medication and have done everything I`ve been told to do. I can`t even find a doctor to take me because of the methadone. Pain clinics want $450.00 just to walk in the door. I have 15 days of medication left and am at the end on my rope. I am ready to end it all because I can`t find or get any help.
Avatar n tn With the amount of oxy he was taken sub might not work, the dose can only go so high and then it actually acts as anti-opiate, the oens used in overdoses, whereas methadone is a full agonist and you can go higher and higher whatever you need to make you comfortable and stable. both give you a mild buzz, and both are complete hell to get off of. sub is just as hard no matter what anyone else says. its just as hard as methadone, its opiate withdrawal times two months. it *****.
Avatar n tn Combining Xanax, Klonopin, or Valium with an opioid pain reliever can be a dangerous combination, especially if you are taking methadone for pain. Despite this danger, myself and many others safely take a benzodiazepine with a strong opioid pain reliever with no ill effects. It is important to taper the dose down as the strength of the opioid goes up. Valium is a very potent muscle relaxer, much more so than Flexeril, and in many cases, Soma as well.
