Avatar n tn I seem to have a soft lump round the back of my neck, its on my hairline near my ear. I nreally don't know what it could be? Its small and soft and sticks out at bit when I bend my neck but when I sit straight it seems to go? When I flex my neck I can sort of press it...!! I recently dyed my hair about 2 days ago and was wondering if it is some sort of allergic reaction. I'm just really really worried as I'm 23 and had a friend, my age, die of cancer last year.

Avatar f tn Since you have dry scalp, watch the lump. Do not touch everyday but once in 10-15 days. If the lump increases in size, becomes painful, changes color, bleeds, changes shape or consistency or more similar lumps appear then consult a doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn I just noticed a small lump on the middle of my spine, on my neck about an inch below the hairline. Its the size of a marble, and not noticeable without palpating the area. Its painless, and moves very slightly only when I relax the muscles in my neck. Any suggestions on what this may be? Is there even lymph nodes near that spot? 24 yr old smoking male if that helps at all.
Avatar n tn Cysts are often firm and can appear anywhere in the body especially in places with hair. I had one in my armpit witch was also firm and it hurt because it was presing my gland. It passed after a week or so. The chances of you having something serious are very small but if it becomes bigger or starts to hurt you must go to a doctor or a free clinic. Don't try to squeeze anything out or to poke it with a needle. Good luck!

Avatar f tn Fast forward a year and I am still not the same person. The lump in my ear/neck area is constantly tender and painful. The majority of the time I have an earache. This has been causing me discomfort and pain now for a year! I feel dismissed by the doctor I saw and cannot afford to keep going back without results. I need a direction or suggestions as to what to do next. I am losing sleep over this and feel an urgency to press on. I am a female, age 42, 5;3", 135 lbs.Thank you.
Avatar n tn For about two weeks, I have discovered a lump just bellow my hairline (at the base of my skull) at the back of my head. The lump is about the size of a wall-nut. It is not painful, and very hard. It is under the skin, unlike a pimple. I went to the doctors, and he seems told me it was nothing to worry about, and that it was most likely a swollon gland. However I have never had a swollon gland in that location, and its not painful. Am I looking to much into this?
143952 tn?1237868141 Hi - I've had a very small lump in the back of my neck for a few months now, since about July I think. It's about two inches from the base of the ear towards the middle of the neck and about 1/2 to 1 inch down from the hairline. Does anyone know which nodes those are - I've seen conflicting info from websites. And, how likely is it to be something serious? I don't think it's gotten much bigger than from I first discovered it, but the area seems more irritated now.
Avatar n tn In my case, my lump is located on my right above the right eye, and right in between my hairline and rigth eye browse. I have been having this lump for years and noticed in when i was 24 years old. It really gives me a different cosmetic look and not to mention my friends who noticed it. I decided to go to the GP and dermatologist. When i was 26 years old, i went to a surgeon in Singapore. He said it was benign tumor and had it taken out.
Avatar n tn Hi, I've got a painful spot in the back of my neck about an inch under my hairline and an inch to the left of spine. It's like a hard lump. Been going to a chiropracter, but that just seems to aggravate it and makes it hurt more. It makes my neck muscles hurt a lot and gives me headaches in the back of my head on that side. I had a neurofibroma tumor removed about 6 inches from that place - felt the same as this one - so am suspicious.
Avatar m tn Hi I was wondering what s a small lump just above hairline at the back of my head. 1648757 tn?1301923069 I have a lump just below the hairline. It's red and about the size of a pea, but no pain associated. What could this be?
Avatar n tn I have a pea size lump on thr top of my forehead in the center right at the hairline is very tender to touch...seems to be connected to a bone but the skin around it can be moved around loosely. Not sure if I should be worried about this.

1231892 tn?1267599770 Is this large lump from the brim of his brow (nose) to the hairline cause for concern? Please inform me. I am a first time mom who has waited a long time for a child and I will admit that I am being a bit concerned just because I don't want anything to be overlooked.
Avatar n tn When you mention pain going to your ear, the other thing that comes to mind is that there are lymph nodes behind your ear, and lymph nodes get tender and swollen in the area of an infection. You don't say where exactly the lump it anywhere behind your ear? Then IT could be a lymph node. It sounds like its an infection, either way, because of the way it responded to the antibiotics....most likely a sebaceous cyst.
Avatar n tn Hi, My 8 year old son has a lump the size of a marble on the left hand side of his head, just above the hairline. The lump does not move and is not sore. My paternal granmother passed away from non-hodgkins lymphoma 9 months ago which I understand may be genetic. He has a Dr. appointment next week but I am quite concerned and was looking for some advice. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have a lump on the right side of my forehead, just beneath my hairline. It comes and goes and doesn't stay longer than a day. The last time I noticed it was about 12mths ago. Today, I experienced a really bad migraine and it has once again resurfaced. Do you have any idea what this is? Should I be worried? It's about the size of a quarter.
Avatar n tn I have a lump also on the right side by my hairline also. It has been there for about 5 years. When I had very dry skin it,shrunk up. Now that there is more oil on my skin, it has come back. I actually get them all over the place, some hurt, some don't. They are just annoying. I tend to get them when I am under alot of stress. My doctor said the same thing as this Med Doc. has said.
Avatar n tn I noticed a couple weeks ago that I had a small lump underneath my scalp. You can't even tell it is there unless you feel it, because it looks just like part of the scalp. It also seems hard, but I prefer not to touch it. It is on the right side of my head, probably an inch, maybe less from my hairline.
Avatar n tn It was very stiff and could barely move my neck. I then noticed a hard acorn sized lump in the right side of my neck that is located just behind the corner of my jaw and . My neck hurt for that day and the next couple of days. The pain went away then i noticed pain in the right side of my back and even in my right pectorial. i also notised a strange pulsing feeling that shot down the front of my neck to the chest. After this swelling cotinued in the back of my back and got worse.
Avatar n tn It is near my pubic bone, near the hairline. You can't see it but you can feel it when you apply pressure and move in circular motion. It is about the size of a marble and does cause some pain, but nothing drastic. There is also some swelling around it. But I am very worried and tried researching on it. I really need some advice right now. Please, help me.
Avatar n tn That lump on the back of your neck could just be a prominent lymph node (some nodes become palpable in the back of the neck, specially if you have an infection in that area). It could also be a non-cancerous lump like a lipoma (lump consisting of fat cells) or an epidermal inclusion cyst (lump consisting of accumulated oily secretions from the skin). If that lump has been around for six years and hasn't grown much, then it's probably not cancerous and shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Avatar m tn Hi I just noticed a small hard lump about three inches from the hairline on my neck and about three inches from my right ear. The lump does not move and is very painful to touch and sometimes causes headaches. I have only had it for about two days and haven't seen a change in size. I am in the middle of applying to a new health clinic so haven't been able to make an appt. The pain hasn't been so bad to go to the emergency room. Most of the pain is in the same area.
Avatar m tn For the last two months, I've had a hard lump along the upper hairline, that is about the size of a golf ball. Originally I thought nothing of it, thought it was just some fatty tissue or something as a result of scarring from c-section/tummy tuck, but those were both 8+ years ago. Now it's becoming a little bothersome when pressing on it and possibly with intercourse.
