Avatar m tn I have been suffering with insomnia and -was- giving serious consideration to giving up on Lexapro (after consulting with my psychologist) since that can cause insomnia. Now I think I will just try giving up on Reglan first and see if my insomnia (and perhaps some anxiety and depression) clears up a bit!
1926604 tn?1322961405 i have been on lexapro for over a month and have been upped to 20mgs a week or 2 ago. It is not helping. i don't want to clean. I don't want to cook. food doesn't even sound good. i am loosing weight. i am cold all the time. i was thinking about mentioning wellbutrin to my doctor. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I know. I'm trying, I haven't stopped. I think the Lexapro side effects are so mild I can only hope the nausea eventually goes away. I have to say my morning (migraine) headaches have stopped since taking the lexapro.

Avatar n tn I changed to Nexium and no longer have that problem.. I used Lexapro and it caused severe anxiety which was miserable to contend with. I have GERD (quite severe) and find Nexium takes care of the problem well. Over-the-counter Prilosec is almost the same drug...but you need to be cautious with it. Most people have to double the quantities to suges this...
709686 tn?1277432159 Too much sugar? Too much white flour? Too much red meat? Try to work with the Lexapro, because finding something that works is very hard. Also keep in mind you're still on a very low dose. 5mg works for some, but the lowest therapeutic dose is 10mg. It may sound odd, but sometimes too low a dose can cause the side effects of beginning of a new med to hang around. On the other hand, increasing can cause it to worsen, too. It's a crapshoot.
Avatar m tn Healthcare providers can adjust the dosage to meet the specific needs of each patient. Easy to Use: Lexapro is typically taken as a simple daily pill, making it convenient for users. Supportive Therapy: It can be a valuable component of a holistic treatment plan that may include therapy and lifestyle changes. Avatar f tn I copied and pasted this from the health pages (top of the page on the right) ~ the amino acid protocol: 5HTP-- this is what tryptophan gets turned into prior to being turned into serotonin in our brains. Serotonin is what is usually depleted if we are depressed and anxious..
433485 tn?1321813390 I am on 30 mg of lexapro and 1 mg of klonopin 3 times a day ( klonopin) we switched to lexapro several months ago as I was on prozac and was a mess! So far I have been doing better, just a little anxiety when I first wake up. Not sure if this was normal or not.
Avatar m tn I see my doc in 3 weeks and I am going to be very up front with her and demand that she do something, but then I am afraid of going off the lexapro for fear of the depression and panic attacks coming back. Has anyone had any success with anything for loosing weight while on lexapro????????
Avatar f tn s not a good idea to drink on a new med until you find out how it will affect you. I was on Lexapro for a long time and never had issues with moderate alcohol consumption. I now take Zoloft and feel dizzy and panicky with one beer, so no alcohol for me on Zoloft. Perhaps the combo of drugs you're on doesn't mix well with alcohol. Are you to stay on both drugs long term or will you wean off amtriptyline and just take Lexapro?
Avatar n tn m not a doctor and those are issues you may need to discuss with your doctor. Also please note to not take both Lexapro and supplements listed above.
Avatar f tn I am a thicker young woman and have always struggled with weight or gaining by just looking at food. I have actually done pretty well with losing. I feel happier and like going to the gym more.
616534 tn?1233236497 Is there anyone out there who has taken Lexapro and not gained weight? My doctor just took me off Effexor and put me on Lexapro. My weight is part of my depression. I can't afford to gain.
415867 tn?1323365503 Some people do experience weight gain with Lexapro or Celexa, but most don’t. In this case, it is not a surprise to have idiosyncratic responses, since the chemical structure of all the SSRIs is so similar. Newer drugs, such as serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), don’t appear to have weight gain as a side effect. In fact, Meridia, a weight-loss drug, is an SNRI. Another SNRI, Effexor, has no weight-loss properties, but it is an antidepressant.
Avatar f tn They both have dismissed my twitches as not being neurological, but they are not neurologists… Currently decided to schedule appointment with a neuro to get second opinion.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I seldom trust docs completely anymore, but when I was on Lexapro, I was suggested to go on a muscle relaxer, I think the same one you're talking about, and the doc said it wouldn't interfere with Lexapro. Don't remember what the situation was anymore, and I didn't take the muscle relaxer, but just one person's experience.
Avatar n tn I lost weight on both but wanted to know the weight issue with Lexapro since there seems to be one. Thanks for the help.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry you had trouble with Lexapro...but I am SO GLAD to see that someone else has had the same issues I have had. I wondered if it was the Lexapro, and strongly suspected it was - so I stopped taking it and switched back to Zoloft (which worked well for me in the past). I ended up on Lexapro because I had switched PCPs. My son died in September and, of course, I was very depressed. So I went to my new doctor, who put me on Lexapro.
