foot

I took a look under your title growth plate injuries, there is lot up there heres one link orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00040- there are plenty more to look at..
yesterday i got my cast off which i had for 3 weeks because of skating. i had a fractured growth plate which could not be seen on x-rays so we talked to my uncle who was an orthopedic and he said it was fractured no matter what. the fracture was just a crack. and so he told me to have it for 3 weeks and so i got it off and at first i was really weak with my foot so i gained strength and its back to normal but the only thing i noticed is i cant run or jump or take heavy impact.
Will i know I have a plate in my foot? will my foot bend correctly when i walk? ( it doesnt now, I hoping this will fix it) please give me some insite! Thank you!!!
I broke my growth plate in my foot in late July, had the cast on for about 6 weeks, a walking boot for about 2 or 3, and then physical therapy up until early October (they dismissed me from therapy early because i was doing much better than expected). However whenever I mess with my foot (like twist it or apply pressure) i can tell that somethings wrong because i still feel slight pain. SHould I go back to see my orthopedic doctor, go back to therapy, wear my walking boot again?
the first guy never mentioned the fact that I had 2 bones messed up in my foot. The Talis and Cuboid. from what the foot guy said that it looked like those two bones collided in my fall and "bruised" both of them. She and her OS showed me the MRI that showed it best that the one bone had chaged color meaning trauma/fracture about 50% of it and the other bone the talis had about 25% change in it.
) One of my pits had a problem with growth plate fusing early in her leg, and the vet could never definitively say if it was a birth defect or if her leg got stepped on by the momma in the first few weeks of life. I would think if the foot got stepped on it might result in the mineralized areas especially if it was not treated at the time. In my case, the breeder opted to spay the mom in case it was a genetic issue.
My 8 year old son hurt his ankle three weeks ago in a soccer game, after two sets of xrays showing no fractures or obvious growth plate concerns, his orthopedic doctor ordered an MRI. He was diagnosed with a mild bone contusion or bruise. The mri showed no issue with ligaments or tendons and confirmed no fractures or growth plate concerns. He has been in an immobilizing walking brace for two weeks now, going on three.....How long does something like this typically take to heal up in a child?
Hi I fractured my left ankle four weeks ago whilst mountainbiking, ( I was clipped into the pedals and the left clip didnt relsease when I came off, my foot twisted anti clockwise and ended up pointing to about 7oclock) I Fractured my (Distal fibula) my (medial malleolus) and dislocated my (Talus) I have a plate obviously with with screws on my ( fibula) and two screws in my ( medial malleolus) I was put in a split cast and sent home in major pain.
It shows the cartilage line of the growth plate as distinct from bone. Order a gradient echo sequences of the growth plate to know actual the type of damage to the growth plate. (This should be discussed with the radiologist in advance to select the best settings.) Non-weight bearing is indicated for lower extremity fractures, and complete rest is given to the part. Pain control is indicated. Prognosis and complications varies depending on severity of injury.
major blood clot right leg, form knee to abdomen. Cath needed. filter inserted. 3/15/2007: fusion of metatarsals (pins) 7/31/2007: bone graph in fibula. Bone harvested from right heal. 3 - 4 weeks after surgery started use of bone stimulator. use 30 mins. per day everyday. I hope this information helps. Let me know if more is needed. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
moderate diffuse osteopenia without evidence of fracturesFractures across a growth plate, or malalignment. There is a localized lunecy noted within the medial aspect of the left talus best seen on the oblique and lateral projections that has an intact cortical rim measuring approximately 0.5 x 0.3 cm in length and width. This could represent an area of bony trabeculations versus an underlying bony cyst or a lytic lesion. Questionable 0.5 x 0.3 cm lucent lesion involving the talus.
As all the bones have fused at your age and there is no problem with the growth plate but follow all instructions properly and you will recover with physiotherapy after taking rest for some days after the removal. Following proper asepsis is very important and also avoid infections. Take care!
I have a spiral fibula fracture. I could not put my foot in walking position. My lower left leg was casted for the first two weeks and I was no weight bearing. Doctor told me at the end of the two weeks I would get a walking cast. During that time the pain was terrible. I passed out because of the pain. At the two weeks, I visited my doctor and he said looks good see you in four weeks and I was still no weight bearing. No explanation.
So they do xrays and say that a growth plate was injured and is making the leg go crooked. they talked to a surgeon and want between 3500-5k to fix the issue. My wife and i were tied up so got my mother to go to the vets and pick up the pup. She went in and asked a few questions, recorded the conversation so she would be able to get al the exact info relayed back to us.
Have the physician give her a total ankle block (anesthesia block using lidocaine---marcaine will interfere with a child's growth plate and should not be given for local anesthesia). If she has pain 15 minutes after the block, she may have psychological issues. If I gave an ankle block to a child or adult, I could cut open the foot and use power tools on the bone and the person would not feel pain! Make sure the physician knows what he/she is doing.
Well I had that ankle surgery on August 20th/08. original break was on March 17th/08. On Aug 20th I had a 10cm plate put in with 7 screws. I had another x-ray today as the last one showed NO HEALING!! Today the doc had to really blow-up the x-ray to show some kind of white shadowing. He says this LOOKS like healing!!??(5 months after surgery!!) LOL, so we'll carry on, go back in April to have yet another x-ray.
Not only were both sides of the ankle broken, the inner break was open and my foot was rotated so that the bone left about a 4 inch horizontal opening. I was in surgery quickly and the bones were set (two long screws on the inside and a plate and short screws on he outside). There was external fixation, no cast. The swelling was terrible and it took a good 6-8 weeks for the majority to dissipate.
With so very unexpectedly and only after eight months they are going to take the plate out (only if bones are strong enough) on August 28 this year which will be operation number eight. I don't regret the fusion it's taken a lot to adapt doing various things which I never thought would be an issue.
Pain on the inner side of the ankle at the attachment of tibialis posterior muscle too can cause pain when the tendon of this muscle is inflamed. Impingement of the ankle joint between the bones of ankle and foot is another possibility. Dislocation of peroneal muscle tendon can also cause shooting pain.

The pediatrician said that it was growing pains. The production of new bone and the epiphyseal plate at the end of the long bones making room to grow. If he's calculated to be tall then he should have this pain for a while and notice if his legs begin to bow which will indicate a growth deformity or vitamin deficiency.
My doc gave me some exercises to do 4 times a day of just leaning on the wall with both arms out strait and one foot forward and the other foot stretched back and hold for a few seconds and then swap and repeat about 10 times. You could also try Panadol Osteo, which is what my mum uses because she has it very bad. I also take vitamin d everyday to help with strong bones and magnesium.
A little over a year ago, I had C5-6 fused. With a plate and screws inserted. Since then I am having trouble with pain in the neck and shoulder area just below the fusion area. I wake in the morning with a headache then turns to pain in lower neck and shoulders. I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist.
It is just 4 weeks since my Anterior Cervical Disectomy W/Fusion (C5-C7). I was misdiagnosed a year ago and had an unnecessary Ulnar Nerve (funny bone) relocation that did nothing for my arm pain / numbness / loss of muscle. Finally saw a neurosurgeon for a second opinion as the symptoms continued to get worse (1st doctor was an orthopaedic surgeon). When the neurosurgeon looked at my mri he proposed removing 3 vertebra as my spinal cord was really compressed. . .
Were any of you guys ever on a Benzodiazepine such as Valium, Klonopin, or Xanax? What you are describing is called benzo withdrawal and sometimes takes 2 years to heal from. It is very hard to find any doctor to recognize what is going on because there are so many symptoms. Check out http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/index.htm I was put on these meds for GAD, however after 4 years they stopped working and docs kept upping the dose. I finally realized what was going on and got off.
i had an MRI and a Cscan done , not really a 100% sure , but it looks as though the screw on the left side of the plate in my lower back went down too far and is actually sitting on the nerve going down theleft leg. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I dont have a appetite at all, and my body aches and my bones hurt. So I went to the Doctors this morning and he precribed me some clonidine but I havent taking it yet. And when I got home from the Doctors I got sick big time. but beside of the withdrawals I am glad to be off of the hydros I am sick and tired of them running my life, WAS running my life, Not no more.
He was playing soccer over the weekend and fell down on his left hip causing it to slip completely off the growth plate. I guess every case is different, so I am just praying that God will give the doctors wisdom to make the necessary decisions when they begin to operate on him.
by the way he is from what i understand one of the best and i trust him,he is the one who did all four of my surgurys,by the way i also had two surgurys in my neck, one in the front and one in the back, which resulted in a titanium plate and bolts in my neck, first op was the plate second op had extreme pain like i never felt before 24/7.pain would not stop til he did surgury.........pain is gone, thank god............
I just turned on my boiler plate and let it run for a while. When I took a look at what was left, I found money. It all boils down to the almighty (maybe not so much right now) dollar. Funny how we love to say "the root of all evil is money" yet we see so many of the pretentious, self righteous elites asking us for money so they can continue to tell us what they want us to know.
