fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I am sure you will be fine then. You'll just have to wait it out. The withdrawal symptoms will go away eventually. Is he offering you an alternative medication instead? Perhaps Lyrica would be a better option for you since Savella didn't work out? Lyrica is also approved to treat Fibromyalgia and it's also an anti-seizure medication.
908504 tn?1269103899 I have Fibromyalgia and horrible pelvic pain. My doctor just startedd me on Savella. Does anyone have any experiences with this new med they want to share with me?
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia and migraines so I stay in constant pain. I have recently started to have paralizes in my arms and legs. I mean completely to the point I can"t move my leg and it will stay that way for as long as an hr. I didn't get to see my Dr. this month I saw a CNP that works in his office and she said I need to see a counselor. What is that going to do for my paralizies?
1252153 tn?1269094321 Lyrica works to control nerve pain and is approved to treat fibromyalgia. Lyrica is a trade name and Pregabalin is the actual name of the medication. Lyrica is a hybrid, so to speak, and similar to gabapentin or Neurontin. Neurontin is approved for use to treat seizures but was found to be helpful with individuals with fibromyalgia Savella is a dual reuptake inhibitor called a SNRI. Which means is it a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been taking Savella twice a day and it has made improvement. I am also a new medication called Nucynta at night before bedtime. These have definitely helped. Good luck!
1023657 tn?1251844941 Some options are - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella. These are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.
1547573 tn?1293755187 According to one major study, Hot flashes occur in approximately 12% of those who take Savella. It has been approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. It belongs to a class of medications known as serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Many SNRIs have the same or similar side-effects. Our systems are all a bit different....and therefore we react differently to medications. You may find another SNRI will not produce the Hot Flashes....or they may not be as extreme.
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed at the beginning of the year with fibromyalgia. dr. gave me lyrica samples and it was like a wonder drug. the pain was minimal and my afternoon exhaustion was gone. i went to fill the prescription and the insurance denied coverage and said it was "experimental". now, my dr. was not 100% certain that it was fibro. he said that i had a lot of sensory issues that made him under sure. i think that is why the insurance denied coverage. soooo, he tried me on gapapinten.

Avatar f tn I'm wondering if anyone has heard (or ever used) a drug called Savella. I'm looking for non-narcotic treatments for pain and a nurse friend mentioned it to me. I looked it up and found there can be some withdrawal from it but according to what I read, if you taper off, it's fine. Becoming dependent on oxycodone has left me worried about trying anything that says you need to taper off it, even if it's not a narcotic.
Avatar m tn I recently started Savella also. I was taking Cymbalta just like you, with little results. I went through a period of depression/miserable feeling when I was decreasing the Cymbalta and increasing the Savella. At the time I assumed it was from the Cymbalta? Now I am not so sure. I have been on the Savella for two weeks. I don't really notice much of a difference besides I am short tempered and angry alot. This is abnormal for me, I usually am very easy going and passive.
687049 tn?1272340093 Hi. I was on Lexapro 10mg and PA took me off to start me on Savella. I have had extreme dizziness and pounding heart and spots in front of my eyes when I stand up. PA says this is from coming off the Lexapro. I have also been nauseous probably 5/7days a week. Did anyone else have nausea and dizziness possibly from the Savella? If you did, can you remember how long it lasted? Any other comments on your experience with Savella would also be appreciated. Thanks!

295756 tn?1247125892 Like you I was excited about Savella, but I was also leery. I had tried every medication that was supposedly aimed at Fibro and I have had my share of disappointments. Buy after asking my Rheumy about Savella and having him tell me that he had given several patients the trial pack, and had received no phone calls about side effects. I had to try it. AND I am so glad that I did. Today I started taking 50mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn Fibro is usually treated both with natural ways and possible medication like Lyrica, Neurontin, Savella, or Cymbalta. Sometimes they will prescribe a muscle relaxer if needed for muscle spasms. But most important is daily exercise....it's crucial to stay moving. The more people lay around or sleep the worse their symptoms. Eating well, maintaining a healthy weight, not smoking, limit sugars, salts, simple carbs...
Avatar m tn I have recently been dx with fibromyalgia. The rheumatologist prescribed Savella. I have just started taking Savella, but notice a headache throughout the back of my head and slight nausea. Is this "normal" for some people? And will the side effects disipate with time?
Avatar f tn Failed to do that several times due to blood pressure rising and a convulsion. Needless to say I am totally away from anyone in the drug using world. I do have fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease, My Rheumatologist is hard to get in to see quickly but I am wondering if savella she gave me could cause serotonin syndrome? All I take is is lisinopril savella and the methadone. Could methadone contribute to serotonin with the milnacipran? the savella seems to be helping my fibro.
1470552 tn?1300605907 I took Savella for about 6 months. Let me say the initial side effects were rough - body sweats, and heart palpitations were pretty bad at time. I continued to endure through and about 6 weeks into taking it, the side effects were much less regular and easier to deal with. Now as far as relief goes - I did get some pretty instant pain relief! So much so that I was on this same board singing its praises. Fast Forward 6 months and the pain relief wasn't working for me.
Avatar n tn I am new to fibro was put on cymbalta three months ago only made me sleepy no pain releif changed to savella 5 days ago 2 days ago started having funny feeling in head heart palpitations when i move fast feel weird crying spells vision blurry headache dizzy but pain is better dont know if its from drug withdraw from cymbalta or reaction to savella never been a sick person i am so blessed now i dont know weather to keep trying savella or stay off everything i was always very active now pain is s
735919 tn?1236444549 My paindr gave me a trail pack of the savella for my horrible fibromyalgia pain. I have been on Cymbalta 90mg and when i started doing research the information that i found said that u can not take these two meds at the same time because it can cause potentially fatal Serotonin Syndrome. I told that to my pain dr but she stated that is not true and these two meds can be taken together because they go to different areas of the body or something like that.
Avatar n tn It made a huge difference when I first started it, but my pain control has gone downhill over the past six months. I also use pain medication, both narcotic and NSAID, muscle relaxants sometimes, sleep medication and patches (Lidoderm and Flector), plus many other treatments such as frequent stretching, heat packs or hot baths, massage when I can afford it, walking and exercise when I feel up to it, I've tried acupuncture but didn't feel it helped much, etc.
Avatar f tn I have sever depression, anxiety, and fibro. I am currently on Savella, which seems to have worked somewhat well for fibro and depression. Unfortunately, what I cant control is the anxiety. I cant work. The PA Ive been seeing for the last 18 years wont even give me ten xanax a month, so I can rarely go out. I dont know if increasing the Savella will help calm the anxiety or not?
Avatar n tn I suffer from fibromyalgia and neurophy daily. When the pain is severe I can hardly stand it. Are there any new approaches to this condition. I am taking vicoden, cymbalta, pamelor and neurotyn?
