fibromyalgia

620060 tn?1235515791 Has anyone found any simple diet changes that have helped fibro symptoms? I am having a really bad few days. I need to find something besides more drugs. I feel like a pill popper. I don't want to take this stuff anymore. I know everyone's different, but maybe there are some diet changes that help most. Any suggestions? Thank you!!
Avatar m tn I've had fibromyalgia over 24 years with little to no alcohol use & follow healthy diet but my fibro just gets worse & worse. Probably couldn't hurt to lower alcohol consumption & eat lots of fruit instead, yeah? Just in case?
Avatar f tn I was recently told by someone that works with fibromyalgia patients that a gluten free diet could lessen my symptoms. Just trying to figure out what has or not has gluten has been confusing and a bit discouraging. But I am willing to try it if it works. Has anyone tried it? What were your results?
Avatar f tn Have you tried a GFCF (gluten-free, cassein free) diet? I went on one primarily because I wanted to try it with my boys who have autism spectrum issues. I found that it helped my fibro symptoms. It can be hard and expensive to follow but may be worth it for you. I was on Lyrica for a few days and have had asthma ever since. You may want to check out http://www.prescriptiondrug-info.com/threads/lyrica-lawsuit-D77155.htm or the Lyrica Survivors group on Facebook.
Avatar m tn HI...I am working with a Dr on MedHelp for an exercise program for us!! As soon as I know it is doable I will let u all in on it... Now as for a diet, I have a few questions...do u know if u have a thyroid issue? were u checked lately for an autoimmune issue? How about Ehlers-Danlos? Do u ever have issues with IBS? Sorry for the questions, but they will help in answering ur question.
4861077 tn?1360156139 This may not have anything to do with the fibromyalgia and may be due to carpal tunnel or tendon problems. If you work and have a repetitive job, your hand and wrist problems may be because of that. Your doctor will be able to check out your hands and determine whether nerve conduction tests would be appropriate to find out if there is any carpal tunnel problems.
Avatar n tn t that hard to follow and I lost 100 pounds on it.
Avatar n tn What types of things have you tried? We basically follow a GFCF diet at home due to fibromyalgia and ASDs in our family. We got a mill to make our own rice flour. We also use masa. Milk wise, we use rice milk and soy milk. We have come up with recipes for cookies, pancakes, spaghetti sauce, chili, banana bread, etc. We also do tacos with corn tortillas and sometimes have 'beanie tacos' (that my kids really like) where we put refried beans, onions, and sauce on the corn tortillas.
Avatar f tn I think it helps the guys somewhat but REALLY helps my Fibromyalgia. It is a difficult diet to follow but you might be amazed at how much better you feel. I have come up with some of my own recipes so I don't have to buy the expensive GFCF foods. It is definitely worth trying for at least a few months to see if it helps you.
Avatar f tn Dj, I havnt been able to convert completely to a gluten-free diet however I am buying more gluten-free food just cuz I know the benefits of food like this. I'm very glad its helping u and that ur dr is proactive like that and helping other FM sufferers!!!!! Hi trudie, sorry for the delayed response everyone, I've had no internet access til this month. I've been on lyrica but it made me feel "high" and my memory was shot and I acted like I had dementia or something lol.
Avatar f tn I can tell you how I went from being nearly bedridden to being nearly completely healthy. I moved to the San Jose, CA area and ramped up walking until I made it to one hour a day. I could do this nearly every day out there. Then I was up to doing yoga, tai chi, hiking, most anything others could do (but not as well as an athlete).
Avatar f tn ve bought new shoes, changed my diet drastically, detoxed my body, and so many other things to try to help. I was referred to the Mayo Clinic where I was diagnosed with evidently a derivative of Fibromyalgia called Central Sensitivity Syndrome and not given any prognosis or plan of action.
690327 tn?1255354511 Fibromyalgia has to be one of the worst things I have had yet, but, I am sure thre will be something worse! That seems to be that with life. I never used to be ill much at all, even though at 16 I was told I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. Now, I have those plus, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, IBS, Restless leg syndrome. Do you think I am falling apart?!HA! Not funny! The Fibro is absolutley got me. I am in pain all day every day!
522415 tn?1242937755 I suspect she does. It is not a hard or weird diet to follow. You simply have to remove some things (which are mostly unhealthy junk food), eat a nutricious snack every 2 hours and, depending on your symptoms she will recommend nutricianal supplements. As she is also a physiotherapist she can advise on exercises to help. For example I also had eye pain and problem with night vision. This is much better now. I know it can be hard to stay positive. But I would recommend contacting her.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I am not officially diagnosed but have possible fibromyalgia. Today has been different as I have pain and numbness. It is like everything just feels like pressure. I also have anxiety and thought maybe it could be an episode of depersonalization. I am not really sure but the numbness is freaking me out.
1033336 tn?1252506131 6 and 181 pounds i got down to 168 recently because i went on the paleo diet but as i result i ended up hating meat for good and I eat fish for meat every day which is a shame i think i get joked for it too now because i gave up meat and i still weigh the same as before i started on the paleo diet i got addicted to eating duncan hines ultimate chocolate brownies and dairyqueen and krispy cream on cheat days! tastes so good but makes you fat because of the sugar.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply. No, I've not yet started on treatment, but I'm soon going to talk to my doctor about starting, because I feel I've to. My age is almost 45, and I'm suffering from various hbv related illnesses like chronic kidney disease, neuropathy, and various debilitating muscle and skeletal problems.
Avatar f tn All I can tell you now is to look into your diet and begin to eliminate fast foods and toxic chemicals from your sytem. Also, you need to quit smoking if you want to have an effective treatment for your Fibromyalgia. Remember, Fibromyalgia is treatable without side effects but you need to find the right doctor and minimize all stresses.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia if correctly diagnosed is CHRONIC. Symptoms may reduce and hide for a while but it does not disappear. I would hesitate to guess that gal never had it in the first place and if she does, I sure hope they symptoms dont flare. I'm an 0- blood and have read over the years that this has nothing to do with how we lose weight. I do have hypothyroid, severe FMS/CFS, and all the symptoms under the FMS umbrella. Severe osteoarthritis with two knee replacements etc.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to do a follow-up post to this question. One of my biggest frustrations during this whole process has been seeing open questions that sound like close descriptions of my condition, only to read to the end of the thread and see that no one ever comes back to explain to the community what they've found out. If you're having muscle spasms of any kind in any location, by default I would at least look into something called Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome.
Avatar n tn t been fun) or my body is healing itself with a lot of medicinal support. You need to eat a low GI diet as you may have hypoglycemia symptoms, they're similar to what you describe (and hypoglycemia is common with Fibromyalgia) and eat plenty of fresh food especially vegetables and 2 fruit per day, seeds, nuts and legumes (such as dried beans, lentils and chickpeas). Also check for food allergies (they arise with fibromyalgia and fatty liver).
