Avatar f tn Does anyone know how long does it take for chlamydia and gonorrhea to turn into PID after treatment for the STDs? Also I should add that I went into the ER with pelvic pain and was treated for both STDs even though the test cultures came back negative. Could they have been false negatives? I am still in bad pelvic and flank pain.
Avatar m tn I'd wonder if this is PID if everything is coming back negative. I'd think ovarian cysts, endometriosis, etc., are more likely. Has she had an ultrasound or anything?
Avatar f tn I went back for a review with my other GP - GP A and she gave me Doxycycline for PID without running further checks. At that point, i forgot to ask for further confirmation checks nor did i manage to ask if my partner needs to be checked/treated as well. I started taking Doxycycline on the 11th and am on my 7/20 tablets. Do you think i can still take a STI test just to confirm my condition and for a peace of mind?
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with thigh pain since 10 days. I got diagnosed with pid. I started taking medication of doxycycline 100 mg bid and metrogyl 400 mg bid. I had sex with my partner on 2nd day of medication as I haven’t been informed about the abstinence. And my thigh pain did not improve. What should I do now? Should I continue the medication? And also is the diagnosis of PID with free fluid in cul de sac on Usg always correct? As i do not have vaginal discharge at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with PID today as I was suffering from constant lower abdominal pain for the last week. I have had this pain before, for shorter periods, and I am not sure for how long I have had this disease. I have not been feeling well for about a year, with regular pain stomach, digestion problems and other symptoms that were just diagnosed as "stress" by the doctors.
Avatar m tn AJ - thank you so much for replying - do you know which bacteria might cause PID concerns?
Avatar m tn I tested positive for Chlamydia after having it for 2 months in my body. My doctor prescribed me Azithromycin tablets to take as one dose and then gave me an injection of Ceftriaxone and prescribed me Doxycycline and Metronidazole after I told him I was still having severe abdominal pain. However, my doctor said that after the pelvic exam and ultrasound, he did not suspect that I had PID and that a laparoscopy would be more definitive to diagnose it.
Avatar f tn Hi I testes positive for chlymadia a couple of months ago and was given the necessary treatment of two tablets at once . From my past sexual experiences I believe I have Had the std for two years . I was wondering what was the chances of having pid. I still have abdominal pain and painful intercourse . I went to several doctors to find out about pid and none could give me a definite answer .
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed PID a week to my menses.. I was put on doxycycline, rocephin and metronodazole for two weeks... Am 5 days late..
Avatar m tn I then went to Asia travelling for 3 months where I took 100mg Doxycycline every day for about 60 - 70 days (for malaria). Since then I had unprotected vaginal sex again with a girl about 4 weeks ago (only time since last time). I had a couple of symptoms and then got diagnosed with Chlamydia. My questions are: a) Would the Doxycyxline have cleared up any Chlamydia (if present) prior to Asia. Given that I had no symptoms before recently.
Avatar n tn At the time you were both treated for chlamydia, as I understand it, she did not have the PID syndrome which is associated with lower abdominal pain. Azithromycin has not been studied for PID treatment. For her to develop new symptoms due to infection after treatment is not a circumstance we see clinically.
Avatar n tn and the treatments for chlamydia or NGU are either azithromycin (single dose) or doxycycline twice daily for a week. Gonorrhea is usually treated with both -- i.e. cefixime or cetriaxone plus either azithromycin or doxycycline. NGU is treated with azithro or doxy alone. Based on symptoms, physical examination, and microscopy of urethral discharge, usually it is possible to tell quite reliable at the initial visit whether a patient has gonorrhea or NGU.
Avatar f tn Oh I forgot to mention that my bf was put on docy too for the chlamydia that he thought I had even tho he didnt test me for it. Sooo now after this last time that it came back I am having real bad problems with cramping and I'm frustrated that this horrible disease keeps coming back. So my question is, has anyone had their PID recurr over and over again or can this be maybe trich and since my bf wasnt treated with the right meds for it he keeps giving it to me?
Avatar n tn s up to me whether or not I wanted to be treated for PID as I realize it would involve an injection, as well as doxycycline and metronidazole for two weeks. I just want to be sure all my bases are covered to ensure that any kind of bad bacteria affecting my reproductive organs is gone. The fact that I also had bacterial vaginosis makes me think I just go forward with this PID treatment. Everything I read is so confusing.
Avatar f tn they examined me and took some blood test and sent me home (give me some antiboics doxycycline and metronidazole) 4th May: I woke up and i was bleeding that much and in that much pain i was rushed back to the hossi. they examied me again etc and kept me in over night. In the morning i got my results back ive got Chlamydia and Pelvic Infecton. I was so shocked i have never slept around but since me and my fella got gether ive never been tested and he hasnt been tested for 3 years.
Avatar n tn I have read that untreated BV has been linked to cervicitis which can then turn into PID. After everything I have read, you only got treated for chlamydia. Usually, if they test you for gonorrhea, you are tested for chlamydia as well because it is not uncommon to have both at the same time. But doxycycline does not treat gonorrhea nor BV. That it is treatment for chlamydia. Did you go to a gynecologist or a general practioner?
Avatar f tn He concluded saying that I might have PID or a bladder infection and gave me two different anti-biotics to take for 2 weeks. I'm concerned that I might have either, but mostly because I don't know how I came to get the infection. Can someone please tell me how I came to maybe get this or if I might have something else? thanks a lot, Amanda.
Avatar m tn if they see anything suspicious for gonorrhea or chlamydia, they can send it off to the lab for confirmatory testing. there are also bedside tests they can do for bv if they don't have a microscope in their clinic to use. you don't leave that clinic until they've properly tested you for infections vaginally!!!!!
Avatar n tn I've been reading the posts about chlamydia. If we can't have it for three or four years, for example, without knowing it, how is it that it causes PID and infertility? Wouldn't it need to be around for years to cause these complications? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I am a 27 year old female. I have been having painful urination for a few years off and on, but recently it has became unbearable. I went to a Urologist and he sent my urine off for culture and started be on Cipro. I did not have any relief and the culture did not grow anything out. He said the infection is more than likely in my urethra. He mentioned ureaplasma. I am currently taking 7 days of doxycycline 100mg twice a day. I finish tomorrow.
Avatar m tn t been detected and I worry about the complications of not treating it especially for my partner as I have read a lot about PID, which stds can lead to pid? Is there a lot or is it just chylmidia and gonnorrhea? , I need re assurance that this is not down to an std or if there is any other such as nsu or ngu that I could have that hasn't shown up as I cannot move on or think of anything else that it could possibly be?
Avatar f tn Last year I was hospitalized for PID. My symptoms were severe itching and green discharge. they put a bunch of antibiotic IVs, did an ultrasound that revealed a cyst and a vaginal culture came back positive for chlamydia. Ever since the PID I've had a dull ache where the cyst was in my ovaries it sometimes hurts when i cough or lie on my stomach. I don't know if I would describe it as pain or just discomfort and a feeling of something being in my lower right abdomen. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn me and my boyfriend have been together for a year and went to the GUM clinic when we first got together and got checked out , where i was diagnosed with PID i was treated for this twice. i then came out in warts and am still getting treatment for them as they are been stubborn and because i am now pregnant they are more hard to get rid of .
Avatar n tn Oh, no you cant take any antibiotics for PID. PID is treated immediately with antibiotics for at least 1 week. Sometimes PID is caused by more than one type of bacteria and a combination of antibiotics that are effective against a range of bacteria are usually prescribed. PID may require hospitalization.
Avatar m tn my wife was treated with azithromycine sandoz 1g and 500 mg the next day because she had her wisdom teeth removed. i took doxycycline 100 mg a day for 5 days and also 1,5 g zithromax on day 6. My wufe and i had sex after 7 days that i took the doxy and she the azithromycine. Questions. 1) i was scared for ngu and chlamydia due to the exposure with the escort? Is it transmitted that way? 2) if i would contacted ngu or chlamydia would me and my wife be treated by now?
