Or can it be caused by a bash of some sort? I have been prescribed doxycycline of which I have to take 100mg per day for 10 days. I'm 20 years old and a heterosexual male. Thanks for any help you may provide.
Hi doctor, I got epididymitis last month, then the doctor give me Doxycycline. last week i go to check again and seem the virus is gone. But my right side still found a lump. Will the lump go away later? or it will stay with me forever? And is it mean my right side is not function anymore(nfertility) because of the lump?
4 weeks ago, I developed the same symptoms and this time went to my GP. She again diagnosed Epididymitis. She prescribed me 100mg once daily for 14 days of Doxycycline. After 4-5 days, the ache behind my testicle disappeared and i continued and completed the course of Doxycycline. However, 2 days after the last tablet and the symptom is back.
How long does it take before symptoms of epidiymitis would occur after contacting the bacteria? (whatever type that might be). It appears that doctors sometimes recommend Doxycycline 100mg for 7 days as an online doctor did for me. But is this antibiotic really effective? (In my case I'm certain it isn't an STD as I've only been with my wife)...but I'm wondering if I caught something from a silicone rubber sex doll torso that my wife agreed I should use because she's gone for 2 months at a time.
I was diagnosed with epididymitis 9 weeks ago. I completed a regimen of doxycycline then with no relief. Lab analysis of urine was negative. After seeing a urologist I just completed a regimen of cipro with no relief. It is on the left side only. There are bead like lumps near the head of the epididymus. Pain is intermittent, most often low level, 2-3, with occasional spikes to 8,9. I had a vasectomy 25 years ago. Left teste is same size as right.
My question is from you that can these medicine will cure epididymitis and for how many days i should get this medicne?
He also confirmed epididymitis with inflamation of the veins, prescribed 100mg doxycycline once a day for 10 days and ibuprofin. After few days the epididymitis became bilateral. I had to pleed to the doctor to give me a scrip for a blood test as too eliminate any possible causes and to possibly learn more about what I am fighting. still waiting for lab results) I went back to the doctor and was prescribed diflucan in case it was a yeast infection. I did not notice any significant improvement.
My physician put me on Doxycycline for 10days and that doesn't seemed to help. But using it got me side effects (heart burn, stomach upset). I went back to him after 10days and he said it might not be the infection. So he prescribed Neproxen for 10days. They seemed to be working . I am done with the course 4 days back and now I am feeling the pain again. I saw a urologist and he thought everything is getting cleared up when I told him pain went down. But now I am feeling the pain again.
He told me that I probably had nothing to worry about, but gave me 5 days of Doxycycline just in case and said that if symptoms persisted, to get std tested. August 29th - Still worrying, I went and got STD tested anyways (Gonnorhea and chlamydia NAAT urine). All tests came back negative. September 9th - Had a friend prescribe me another week of doxycycline because I was still worried about the whole thing and not wanting to pass anything on to my partner.
No samples were taken, no ultrasound was done, my GP just felt around for a while and stated its probably mild epididymitis, he said if it doesn't clear up at the end of the antibiotics to go back to him and he will review the situation, I guess he will refer me to a urologist.
(sporadic sharp and dull pain, no other symptoms) I went to my GP and was diagnosed with a mild case of epididymitis and prescribed 500mg of cipro twice daily for seven days and 500 mg ibuprofin 2 times a day for 10 days. The pain subsided for two weeks and then returned. Went back to my GP and he prescribed me with 500mg cipro twice daily for 10 days. After a week without improvement I went to a Urologist. He confirmed epididymitis and instructed me to stop taking the cipro.
So then after the pain was completely gone, I masterbated and bam the pain came back again. So I went in again, was put on Doxycycline for 10 days. It did absolutely nothing. Then I waited another week, and again, the pain just disappeared. So I was sent for blood work, urine work, std test(even though I'm not sexually active) and an ultrasound. Everything came back negative. The only thing found was that there was a small cyst on the top of my left testicle(possibly on my left epididymis??).
t=29492 Can't remember where I got the info for the misdiagnosis of veriocele for hernia and vice versa. Just do a search for yourself.
But they say antibiotics is best, ceftriaxone single dose, azithromyein 3 or 5 day pack, and last doxycycline ywice daily for 10 days. Now is this the kind of info you want.
I peed in two cups… presumably one for urinalysis and the other for stds (don't remember which cup was labeled which). Urine test came back negative for c/g and negative for leukocyte esterase. Ultrasound was done and showed a left varicocele, everything else was normal (color doppler, spectral analysis, epididymis head, testicle) - Testicle was visibly swollen and tender to the touch for the next few days.
Three days later I went to the urologist who diagnosed me with epididymitis and gave me doxycycline (2x a day) for a week, mild anti-inflammatories(2x a day) for a week and omeprazol (1x a day) for 10 days for my weak stomach. I stopped taking the anti-inflammatories after 3 days because the pain was manageable. By the end of the the course of antibiotics I felt much better and was able to move around pretty much pain-free.
I'm a 35-year-old male and married. I've had an epididymitis for about 8 months now. It causes ED and pain/swelling in testicles. Early on Levaquin 500 mg treated it effectively, but anytime I tried to lower the dosage to 250, the pain and ED returned. I've been taking Ibuprofen and Alleve for the inflammation. Since late August though, the problems have come back and the Levaquin no longer seems to be helping. Pain is actually fairly mild, but no erections.
In any case, it's virtually impossible to have sexually acquired epididymitis after doxycycline, especially given the amount of it that you took. The failure of your symptoms to improve promptly and completely after still more doxy, and then with ciprofloxacin, almost certainly does not mean you have an infection resistant to those drugs. The true interpretation is that you never had a bacterial infection to start with.
If so and the tests were negative, then you can be sure no STD is responsible for the epididymitis or other symptoms. If not tested, the treatments you had should work against the likely STDs. I'm not sure about "dioxycillin"; there's no such thing -- maybe doxycycline? That would work against all chlamydia and most gonorrhea. If it was dicloxacillin, I agree it wasn't the right drug.
Let's assume that a man is infected with chlymadia and has symptoms for epididymitis. (or urethritis or prostatitis) Can the man still transmit chylmadia to a partner after taking 14 days of doxycycline if the epididymitis. (or urethritis or prostatitis) symptoms are persisting? In other words is the chlymadia "cured" such that the man is no longer infectious, even though he continues to have the chlymadia induced symptoms of epididymitis.
have had both gonorrhea and chlamydia tests both are negative but I have obvious diagnosed epididymitis that has not gone away despite treatment with doxycycline, levaquin and im 250 ceftrexiaone What has caused this?
5 years), we last had intercourse 6 mos. before the epididymitis flared up. Problem started while I was taking minocycline for acne. Went in to student health. NP RXed 10 days doxycycline, 100 mg PO BID, sent me to ER. Had an ultrasound, confirmed it was epididymitis plus a hydrocele. They gave me a shot of ceftriaxone and told me to continue with the doxycycline.
After seeing the reports, my urologist was saying I have inflammation due to some infection, and started treating me Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 10 days. I took this antibiotics seriously without skipping. However after completing the 10 days, I can see the pain more severe than in the past in my genitals. I'm not sure why the pain is not reducing. I have no idea what these reports are, and what is this inflammation and infection could be.
Hello, About a month ago i started having testicular pain after a sexual encounter i got tested for all std's and they came back negative about a week later the testicle pain got worse and I went to the ER they did an ultrasound for torsion and it came back negative so the ER doctor diagnosed epididymitis and gave me two weeks of doxycycline and a shot of an antibiotic well it's been over two weeks and the pain is still there so i went back to the doctor and he prescribed Keflex 500mg 3x a day
He also confirmed epididymitis with inflamation of the veins, prescribed 100mg doxycycline once a day for 10 days and ibuprofin. After few days the epididymitis became bilateral. I went back to the doctor and was prescribed diflucan. Doctors seem unconcerned yet unable to tell me what the cause or cure is. Any ideas? Thank you.

I was diagnosed with a UTI last monday, and given a week's worth of doxycycline to clean it up. Test results for Chlam. and Ghon. came back negative. I was still suffering from pain in my scrotum and pelvic area, and pain in the glans, as well as a lump on the tubing at the top of my scrotum, left side. The doctor told me it was epididymitis, and prescribed an anti-inflammatory, but no more antibitocs.
She then did a urine test for infection that came back negative but does not test for chlamydia. She diagnosed me w/ epididymitis. My questions are the following: 1. Is this epipdidymitis the result of the oral i received? 2. Is it possible my epipdidymitis was the result of a chlamydia infection? 3. I had sex w/ my wife the night after the incident, what are her risks? She has had no symptoms in 12 days. 4.
