Avatar m tn A few days later I noticed nothing was improving so I went back and got prescribed Cefixime and doxycycline 100mg for 7 days in hopes of improvement as it worked for me the last time in hopes that the testicles/possible Epididymitis would improve. On the second last day of doxycycline this time around I felt sharp spermadic cord pulses with testicle movement which subsided the last day of antibiotics and once the antibiotics were finished.
Avatar m tn The pain started out extremely severe, then I was started on doxycycline for about 1 1/2 weeks, and the pain went away for the most part. About 3 days later the pain came back, and I once again took more doxycycline. The pain went away completely for about 2-3 weeks until i obtained this annoying infection once again. I now am taking doxycycline twice a day for 21 days. I have taken about half of my medication so far...
Avatar m tn A cephalosporin (such as ceftriaxone) combined with doxycycline is an alternative. Azithromycin can be used for susceptible strains. In children, quinolones and doxycycline are best avoided. Since bacteria that cause urinary tract infections are often the cause of epididymitis in children, co-trimoxazole or suited penicillins (for example, cephalexin) can be used. If there is a sexually transmitted disease, the partner should also be treated.' http://en.wikipedia.

Avatar m tn Just to update, I had resumed unprotected sex with my significant other roughly 4-5 days after completing my course of doxycycline (we had sex once before the epididymitis and after the csw encounter). Since that time I was tested once, a month ago, with negative results. The swollen and tender testicle has gone away, however I notice that occasionally the left testicle will get hard and uncomfortable (more noticably after masturbation or penile stimulation).
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had epididymitis for the past 7 months. I have tried 21 day course of cipro, 4 week course of doxycycline, a dose of azithromycin, 1 week course of bactrim. I am very young too (20 years old) and this condition is stopping me from doing daily tasks. I have trouble sitting. I have had ultrasound, blood test, urine test all negative but physical examination revealed epididymitis which was missed on the ultrasound. But the ultrasound did show increased vascularity in the epididymis.
Avatar m tn It appears that doctors sometimes recommend Doxycycline 100mg for 7 days as an online doctor did for me. But is this antibiotic really effective? (In my case I'm certain it isn't an STD as I've only been with my wife)...but I'm wondering if I caught something from a silicone rubber sex doll torso that my wife agreed I should use because she's gone for 2 months at a time.
Avatar f tn After ten days go to doc and put on Doxycycline. Not working, pain getting worse so five days later get put on ciproflaxin for 4 weeks. Two weeks later pain getting worse still. Reaches peak pain. Don't sleep for 36 hours. Given strong pain killers. Pain stays the same for a week then subsides. Pain doesn't wholly go away so 4 weeks later get put on two weeks Doxycycline and two weeks on another antioboitic. No change.
Avatar f tn Doxycycline is indicated to treat gonorrhea so a reasonable choice by your doctor to prescribe for you. Were you tested for it or did he just prescribe it? Cipro is also prescribed for gonorrhea. You can ask your doctor why he/she chose one over the other, but both are indicated to treat it.
Avatar m tn He also confirmed epididymitis with inflamation of the veins, prescribed 100mg doxycycline once a day for 10 days and ibuprofin. After few days the epididymitis became bilateral. I had to pleed to the doctor to give me a scrip for a blood test as too eliminate any possible causes and to possibly learn more about what I am fighting. still waiting for lab results) I went back to the doctor and was prescribed diflucan in case it was a yeast infection. I did not notice any significant improvement.
Avatar m tn I had no discharge or pain from urination. The next day I went to the clinic and got tested. My results were negative for everything. I figured that may have been too soon to detect whatever I may have been infected with, so I got tested again a week later. My results were all negative again. The only symptom that followed me was epididymitis. Its been about nine months since the incident and I am still suffering from it. I have been given Doxycycline and Ciproflaxin which have helped.
Avatar m tn They did a urine sample and said it was clean. Furthermore, they prescribed this medication called doxycycline. I took it for 10 days and was fine. I took a hot bath on the last day and ejaculated. 10 minutes later my testicles were aching. Few daysa after, pain came back sporadically in intervals. Other symptoms began such as pain in the bottom abdomen, constipation, burping, and tightness in my lovehandles. Went back to the hospital got an ultrasound and said it was hydroceles.
Avatar m tn After finishing the antibiotic course the pain came back and I was prescribed doxycycline for 2 weeks. I made Echography and everything looked normal according to the urologist. The urologist said pain might remain for a while. Its now more than a month and I still feel pain. I read about Mycoplasma and it might be the reason in case of absence of chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn my body aches have decreased but epididymitis has come now they gave me doxycycline fight bacteria in testicals it helped me for three days but it has started to come back again .... i was doing research on this but could not find a cure that is a 100 percent on epididymitis ...but then i saw this video ..what do u think about this ?http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar m tn ve had a history of testicular pain. Last year I was treated for epididymitis. At this time, I was also referred to a urologist, who told me my prostate was enlarged, and to come back in 90 days. I did not go back. I saw my doctor about it this spring, and was referred to a urologist who did an ultrasound and took a urine sample. He found a variocele, but said there was no medical explanation. Three weeks ago it flared up again, and was agonizing. I left work and checked into the ER.
Avatar m tn i went back to the doctor because of testicular pain. they gave me doxycycline for possible epididymitis, uti, and chlamydia. Is it possible I could have contracted herpes? I don't seem to have any discharge or burning of the penis. I have pain in my left testicle and the doctor said its slightly swollen. They said its not a torsion. Please respond quickly.
Avatar f tn //www.webmd.com/men/what-is-epididymitis#1. It is not uncommon. There should be no reason why you can't exercise while taking antibiotics as long as you are comfortable enough to do so. You can always check in with your doctor and I would go slow getting back to it and stop if anything causes pain. You can also take an over the counter anti inflammatory for pain and swelling (such as ibuprofen). We wish you the best.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with epididymitis 9 weeks ago. I completed a regimen of doxycycline then with no relief. Lab analysis of urine was negative. After seeing a urologist I just completed a regimen of cipro with no relief. It is on the left side only. There are bead like lumps near the head of the epididymus. Pain is intermittent, most often low level, 2-3, with occasional spikes to 8,9. I had a vasectomy 25 years ago. Left teste is same size as right.
Avatar m tn After seeing the reports, my urologist was saying I have inflammation due to some infection, and started treating me Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 10 days. I took this antibiotics seriously without skipping. However after completing the 10 days, I can see the pain more severe than in the past in my genitals. I'm not sure why the pain is not reducing. I have no idea what these reports are, and what is this inflammation and infection could be.
Avatar m tn You should certainly get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen and pelvis region done and rule out stone disease. Once stone disease is ruled out and you are started on treatment for your epididymitis, I don't see any reason why you cannot travel to United States. Hope that this information helps and hope that you will get better soon.
