can taking Doxycycline hyclate and Metronidazole with my birthcontrol cause me to miss my period?
I was recently diagnosed with NGU and was prescribed doxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days. My physician said to abstain from sex until all the medication was gone. That is exactly what I did. I ended up having sex 4 to 5 hours after I took my last dose of doxycycline on day 7. Did I put my partner at risk by having sex so soon after treatment? Also, I took 13 out of the 14 pills. (I choked one of the pills back up and spit it out). Would that have an impact on the meds efficacy?
Can doxycycline treat trichomoniasis? I read it is an antibiotic, and looked up, the ones I have are 100mg, the website said I should take 2-3 a day for 10-14 days. Also I will not be having sex for a month or two since my partners away on business/visiting family. Also how should I clean myself? I've been wearing a pad and changing them frequently. People have asked if its trek and I am 99% I don't need a pro test since I know what it is.
There are many myths about mixing alcohol and antibiotics and most of them are just myths and nothing more! It's one of the great myths that mixing antibiotics with alcohol can seriously mess you up. While it's unwise to mix medicine with alcohol, only few drugs are affected by the action of it. The truth is that antibiotics have different routes of leaving the body, some broken down in the liver, excreted in the urine or passing straight through in the faeces.
I had a large discharge from my penis during a bowel movement over the weekend, I have the feeling of pressure in my groin (as in the sensation you get when the pain of being kicked in the groin is fading away), and my penis itches on the tip and what seems to be inside the head area. The pressure seems similar to when I prostate problems. I followed your previous advice and asked that I be tested for Trich.
He ended up prescribing me 100mg of Doxycycline oral two times a day for two months and wants to see how I'm doing in a month. I've also had another doctor, kind of a Lyme literate doctor I guess, who I thought was really not ever going to treat me but it turns out he also wants me on 100mg of Doxycycline two times a day. So it seems that all the doctors I've seen who believe I have Lyme disease prefer to start off with Doxycycline. All my symptoms started in late September of 2012.
Metronidazole and doxycycline does not cause hair loss. I am not sure what the cause is.
If you do not want to take oral drugs, then you can apply topical applications of erythromycin, metronidazole, adapalene, or azelaic acid. Do discuss this with your treating doctor and start treatment as per advice. Take care!
ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants, birth control pills, corticosteroids, doxycycline, metronidazole, quinidine, valproic acid, theophylline, sumatriptan, or medicine for high blood pressure or heart conditions (beta blockers) or for mood or emotional conditions (phenothiazines). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
I was worried and went to see a docter who gave me doxycycline for week. It didnt helped. Now i am back at home after a month and saw 2 red dots on shaft of my penis. I am worried as hell that if i got herpes. These are very small red spots with no fluid in them. I started taking metronidazole thinking that i got trich. my penis pain is bit ok after taking the pills but now these spots are making me nervous. I have some pain in my groin area too.
Have a persistent urethritis (std-related) which conventional treatments (metronidazole/zithromax/doxycycline) won't get rid of. testing options aren't good in the country I am in. Looking for a microbiology lab in the US able to do comprehensive testing for trichomonas (male) and the various mycoplasma/ureaplasmas that may be the culprit. I know there are some that have some fairly sophisticated testing but it is not an easy thing to actually get a list of.
i was given doxycycline and more metronidazole and finished these about three weeks ago. the tests results for stds and candida all came back negative, but the sympoms are still present. i am going back to the gum the next time i can get away from work, but no one has been able to tell me what kind of infection this is or what kind of treatment will work. i would think it was only bv but the doctor said that it was an infection of some kind.
I have been treated with 1g Aziithromycin - but had sex twice with untreated wife - though with condom and little foreplay / no oral Then both myself and wife with Azithromycin (1g) and metronidazole (course) (fully compliant no sex) no sex inbetween until Myself Doxycycline course (fully compliant no sex) Still symptomatic but cleared of infection by microscopy Sex once with condom and little foreplay / no oral Still symptomatic - and borderline infection signs by microscopy Myself Week c
She didn't think any further testing was necessary, but still gave me 7 days of doxycycline twice a day, and 2 grams of metronidazole to be taken all at once. I know I didn't mention the metronidazole in the first posting, and I apologize. I took the metronidazole after the doxy was completed as she suggested. Everything seemed to be fine for a while, but then I began milking my penis repeatedly, like a lot, throughout the day to check and make sure there was nothing there.
Tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are the most common antibiotics used to treat rosacea. Some people respond quickly, while others require long-term therapy. Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea. Sunscreens, particularly those that protect against ultraviolet A and B light waves and have a sun-protecting factor (SPF) of 13 or higher, are recommended for all people with rosacea.
I also had blood tests (for HSV, HIV and syphilis), these also came back negative. I have taken a two week course of doxycycline and a week of metronidazole (not at the same time). My symptoms neither improved, nor subsided with these antibiotics. I am very anxious about both what is causing this symptoms and if I will be able to get rid of them. Not having a diagnosis is also very frustrating, as I don't know what can be done to move forward.
My doctor said it's up to me whether or not I wanted to be treated for PID as I realize it would involve an injection, as well as doxycycline and metronidazole for two weeks. I just want to be sure all my bases are covered to ensure that any kind of bad bacteria affecting my reproductive organs is gone. The fact that I also had bacterial vaginosis makes me think I just go forward with this PID treatment. Everything I read is so confusing.
(in case of gon) I was given doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 7 days, 1 gm of metronidazole and the same regimen he took for the gon. Should this cover all bases. Do we need further treatment. Do we need retest? I should note that the day before treatment of gon, one side testicle swelling occurred. What do you think we should do further. Should we worry about hsv2?
At least 1, possibly 2 were for GC as well and negative. Was given 2g zithromax, 2g metronidazole, and a week of doxycycline. I also became obsessed with milking my penis to see what was there. About a month (beg. June) later I began to notice flakes around my urethra and what I milked out became cloudy. Doc suggested urologist which I can't afford, said GC and CT passes easily with oral. Gave me 30 days of levaquin 500mg and said stop milking, and even masterbating can cause it.
Since that time I have been prescribed two rounds of metronidazole 2g single dose twice and doxycycline 100 mg bid for 14 days (symptoms hadn't abated, provider considered trich, and mycoplasm as possible culprits). I was also put on avelox 400 mg for 10 days as well. Currently I have 6 days remaining on the doxycycline and 9 days remaining on the avelox.
What might be going on here will be forever clouded by your treatments with medications which include amoxicillin, metronidazole, ciprofloxacin and azithromycin and now doxycycline. Please also realize that you have never had a positive test of any sort so that you are being treated for the most un-reliable of indications, your perceived symptoms which are unverified by your doctors. I am glad that you are feeling better. You have now been treated with multiple highly effective therapies.
is missed as perioral dermatitis and is well treatable with metronidazole gel. Do consult your doc.ok?
Your treatment should include either azithromycin or a repeat course of doxycycline, and should also include a drug active against trichomonas, i.e. either metronidazole (Flagyl) or tinidazole (Tindamax). This isn't meant as critical of your doc. Most likely he also collected a urine specimen for culture; if so, my bet is that no typical UTI bacteria will be isolated. But if such an organism is isolated, treatment based on that finding would of course be reasonable.
I also had blood tests (for HSV, HIV and syphilis), these also came back negative. I have taken a two week course of doxycycline and a week of metronidazole (not at the same time). My symptoms neither improved, nor subsided with these antibiotics. I am anxious about both what is causing this symptoms and if I will be able to get rid of them. Not having a diagnosis is also very frustrating, as it means that I'm not doing anything to treat it. On top of this the symptoms are very uncomfortable.
i was diagnosed with chlymidia over 3 months ago was given a course of doxycycline over a 7 day period, havent had sex since however over the last 3 weeks i have had a constant urge to urinate, went to the GP he subscribed another course of doxy with metronidazole. These however havent helped and i still have the same urgency.
In the hierarchy of steroids, Valisone isn't that strong. No need for misery and desperation. Metronidazole is a good idea. I'd get off the steroids as soon as you can, if you haven't already. I have rarely if ever seen true allergy to minocycline and tetracycline--are you really sure about that? Even if you are, doxycycline is a different animal. Also, other antibiotics like amoxicillin may help.
A couple weeks later, my urethritis and drip gets even worse and I start to have full on discharges.I get tested yet again, and I bring girl #1 with me. She's had absolutely no symptoms. She was even examined and the doctor said she looked fine.We both get Doxycycline and I feel better.Tests were negative.I then continued to have unprotected sex with girl #1 and everything is normal.A couple months later I start having sex with girl #2 again.
Once again the symptoms did not go away, so I went back to the original clinic and told them my situation. They then prescribed a one time dose of metronidazole. It's been two weeks since I took that dose and I still experience symptoms. The discharge will only occur in the morning, and the burning sensation has always been slight. The symptoms in general have not gotten any better or worse since I first noticed them. I am a healthy 23 year old male with no history of STDs.
