diabetes

Avatar f tn When using lancet to prick my finger, I squeezed my finger to get the blood out and the blood came out like a geyser. It literally sprayed all over the area around me. What could have caused this and should I report it to my physician?
Avatar f tn Can HIV/ Hep or any blood disease spread if pricked with used lancet which is used in pen kind of a machine to prick for diabetes test machine?
Avatar f tn Hi I was encouraged to get tested after 7 months from date of exposure (rubbing) and went to the testing center after the health nurse tested me for hiv , hvc and syphilis and after prick me in my finger with a lancet but it wasn't a lancet like i see in self tests it looks like a traditional lancet like the diabetes lancet I'm afraid the needle contaminates the hiv or hbv, hvc that he injected me is used and that the nurse forgot to change the lancet a reused lancet knowing that all m
Avatar m tn to check for diabetes he would have used a lancet to prick you..lancet do not have a hollow bore which his blood could be trapped and then get injected into you.. so you should not be worrying about this as the virus cant be spread from a lancet prick..
Avatar n tn Hi Doc, yesterday I go to clinic and check my diabetes level. 1.the doc use lancet to prick my blood I did not notice he got or not change the lancet if other people got hiv use it before me can I get hiv? 2.the doc take  my hand with blood to check it on a meter .I dunno the meter is clean or not and my hand with blood touch the machine meter can I get hiv? I am worry.thank you.
Avatar n tn If they both used just the lance but new lancet each time I would say highly unlikely unless blood was transferred to the the new lancet by the previous person. My husband is a diabetic and I have used his lance to take a reading on myself just to see if my glucose was normal. He has been tested and does not have the virus. Anytime there is blood involved, it's always wise to use extra precautions. I don't think I would routinely use someone elses lance who is infected with hepc.
Avatar f tn Diabetes is not infectious or transmissible through sharing lancet, though sharing lancet is not recommended, as there are possible other diseases that could be shared (Ie. Hep B, if she had it, though still unlikely). 7.8 is about 140, which is about the maximum limit of normal, considering you just ate rice. If you are concerned about diabetes, the best way to prevent it, or manage it if you already have it, is to restrict carbs (along with appropriate medications).
Avatar f tn I reused a lancet to check for diabetes after an hiv infected person had used it.i had a 5minute interval.
Avatar n tn I have diabetes marginal @ 160, i had gone to my brothers house (he too has dia.) and we were discussing it. Soon he brought his accu check and checked his glucose. Without recognizing i also pricked with the same lancet within @ 3/4 minutes gap and checked the same. After realizing the next morning i asked him whether he had any issues regarding blood. He said he was not affected with HIV or other issues. Consulting with one of my Dr. friend i asked him to confirm @ jaundice.
Avatar n tn A child pricked her finger with a lancet from a diabetes test kit? Is there a chance of her contractig any blood borne disease with this small puncture?
Avatar n tn While I was pregnant I had diabetes and I tested one of my co workers sugar can I get hiv from doing this? I know I changed the lancet and wiped the lancet holder off with a paper towel but my mind keeps playing tricks on me about what if I didn't change the lancet and used it again. I'm driving myself crazy thinking about it!! Can I get hiv if I accidently reused it??
Avatar n tn s heterosexual married male with diabetes) allowed me to use his glucose test kit so I could examine my blood sugar levels. I cleaned my fingers with alcohol before he used his lancet to stick my finger, and obviously drew a tiny drop of blood.
Avatar m tn m a medical student, two months ago i was working on a research regarding diabetes, where we measure their glucose level using the glucose measuring device. i was wearing gloves while measuring glucose level from a 40 year old married man with two kids who seemed healthy and unsuspicious for hiv.
Avatar m tn She seemed to be struggling to get the device to work, as it looked like the lancet was jammed in there, so she (presumably) used another lancet and manually pricked my finger. The test was negative. The reason I am worried, is that there was a couple that tested before me, and I am scared that the same lancet was used on all of us. Our testing could not have been more than 5 - 10 minutes apart.
Avatar f tn i had been pricked by a blood sugar lancet two or three times which is white one with a cap on it.its my grandmother kit and one lady of neighbour hood sometimes comes to test her sugarshe is very thin.i dont know her hiv status but is their any risk?
Avatar m tn Thx for your response OrionB. it was not a single used finger prick lancet, it was a reuse finger prick pen (diabetes finger prick pen which is able to be used for more than once). After my 3 month test, if its negative i will not think about this anymore, cause i will do test in the hospital again not NGO to make sure that everything they use is new. And i hope that all this symptoms are the effect of my anxiety.
Avatar n tn They tested their levels with Accu Chek Diabetes Kit with the same lancet. Foolishly I also used the same lancet. My mother(50) is the one who frequently checks her levels with it and she has used the same lancet many times before today. Could my father or me have contracted HIV or hepatitis?
Avatar m tn I had a gloves on. I used 33 gauze lancet. I did come in direct contact with her blood(whatever blood left on that lancet). What is my chance to get HIV or Hepatitis C. I asked her about her medical history but she said that she did not have any disease. She is 22 years old black female. Please help.
Avatar n tn I recently thought I might have an HIV and Hepatitis exposure but I wanted some opinions. I wasn't thinking about it in the moment, and I'm nervous now. This happened yesterday (1 day ago at this time) A friend of mine offered to check my glucose or blood sugar since I had never been tested for Diabetes. He pulled out his multi use machine that he uses, as he is diabetic. He took the lancet out and replaced it with a new one. He pricked my finger and tested my blood.
Avatar m tn On December 24 while on vacation with my parents my dad tested my blood sugar and used his lancet pen. He had tested his about 15-20 minutes before me, and he replaced the lancet in the pen before testing me (single shot pen where the lancet has to be changed after each use).
535152 tn?1215015169 how did you know you had diabetes? what were your symptoms? what is normal for the results of these lancet test strips?
Avatar n tn My father in law has type 2 diabetes. He is concerned with the amount of drinking my son is doing. Can type 2 increase the risk for my son having type 1? Also can symtoms come and go? For example drink a ton one day, but not for a couple of days, then drink a lot again? For a first step should we check him with FIL meter or take him to the dr.? My father in law helped get my nephew diagnonsed (no blood relation to my son) so he knows signs and is concerned about them.
