When using lancet to prick my finger, I squeezed my finger to get the blood out and the blood came out like a geyser. It literally sprayed all over the area around me. What could have caused this and should I report it to my physician?

to check for diabetes he would have used a lancet to prick you..lancet do not have a hollow bore which his blood could be trapped and then get injected into you.. so you should not be worrying about this as the virus cant be spread from a lancet prick..

Hi Doc, yesterday I go to clinic and check my diabetes level. 1.the doc use lancet to prick my blood I did not notice he got or not change the lancet if other people got hiv use it before me can I get hiv? 2.the doc take my hand with blood to check it on a meter .I dunno the meter is clean or not and my hand with blood touch the machine meter can I get hiv? If they both used just the lance but new lancet each time I would say highly unlikely unless blood was transferred to the the new lancet by the previous person. My husband is a diabetic and I have used his lance to take a reading on myself just to see if my glucose was normal. He has been tested and does not have the virus. Anytime there is blood involved, it's always wise to use extra precautions. I don't think I would routinely use someone elses lance who is infected with hepc.

m a medical student, two months ago i was working on a research regarding diabetes, where we measure their glucose level using the glucose measuring device. i was wearing gloves while measuring glucose level from a 40 year old married man with two kids who seemed healthy and unsuspicious for hiv.

She seemed to be struggling to get the device to work, as it looked like the lancet was jammed in there, so she (presumably) used another lancet and manually pricked my finger. The test was negative. The reason I am worried, is that there was a couple that tested before me, and I am scared that the same lancet was used on all of us. Our testing could not have been more than 5 - 10 minutes apart.

Thx for your response OrionB. it was not a single used finger prick lancet, it was a reuse finger prick pen (diabetes finger prick pen which is able to be used for more than once). After my 3 month test, if its negative i will not think about this anymore, cause i will do test in the hospital again not NGO to make sure that everything they use is new. And i hope that all this symptoms are the effect of my anxiety.

They tested their levels with Accu Chek Diabetes Kit with the same lancet. Foolishly I also used the same lancet. My mother(50) is the one who frequently checks her levels with it and she has used the same lancet many times before today. Could my father or me have contracted HIV or hepatitis?

He pulled out his multi use machine that he uses, as he is diabetic. He took the lancet out and replaced it with a new one. He pricked my finger and tested my blood.

On December 24 while on vacation with my parents my dad tested my blood sugar and used his lancet pen. He had tested his about 15-20 minutes before me, and he replaced the lancet in the pen before testing me (single shot pen where the lancet has to be changed after each use).

My father in law has type 2 diabetes. He is concerned with the amount of drinking my son is doing. Can type 2 increase the risk for my son having type 1? Also can symtoms come and go? For example drink a ton one day, but not for a couple of days, then drink a lot again? For a first step should we check him with FIL meter or take him to the dr.? My father in law helped get my nephew diagnonsed (no blood relation to my son) so he knows signs and is concerned about them.
