Common Questions and Answers about Diabetes symptoms blood urine

diabetes

Avatar f tn there is no need to worry and build up unwanted fear in you, its better you visit a doctor and take up a urine and blood test both fasting (first urine of the day and blood test in an empty stomach) and postprandial (which is usually taken after 2 hours after your breakfast). because with these symptoms its difficult to say that you might have diabetes. nothing to worry..so take care...
Avatar n tn But when I went to then Doctor recently, then said my glucose reading was a 220. So does this mean I have pre-diabetes or even already diabetes? They are going to run some more tests at the doctor, so I am just wondering. I just can't figure out that if I haven't gotten really sick, then I find it hard to understand how I could have diabetes. And how can my body go from being just fine, to producing little insulin (if it even is diabetes). Maybe I'm in denial...
Avatar n tn what kind of symptoms would you get if you did have diabetes? early stages/pre, would you get any kind of symptoms or would you feel normal? So basically would you guys trust the urine result? is it reasonably reliable you think?
Avatar f tn As a Type 1 diabetic for many years, I would say your symptoms do not sound like diabetes. If your doctor tested your urine for other things, did they check it for glucose levels (I would assume they did and found no abnormal reading). It sounds more like an overactive bladder problem, possibly due to an infection, but you should talk to your doctor about it to acquire a diagnosis and treatment - and particularly if the symptoms persist.
Avatar n tn I do believe that if it was diabetes causing this, he would have other symptoms such as the ones I listed in regards to High Blood Sugar and I have not yet read anywhere that sugar cravings fall in the high blood sugar category. I would lean towards hypoglycemia, but as I mentioned, I am not a medical professional, so there could be something else triggering these cravings. You definitely need to talk again with your physician. (2nd opinions are good!
Avatar f tn Possibly. The tiredness, blurry vision, nightsweats, and infections COULD be symptoms of diabetes, but I don't know how your epilepsy could be influencing your symptoms. Only a doctor and a test can tell you for sure. You said you got the result for the first fasting test; do you know what the number was? Yes, ask for an A1C. Many doctors are not too educated on diabetes but that is pretty basic.
4879855 tn?1360440197 Untreated diabetes gives you sugary urine (the old school test was for the doctor to taste-test it). You also drink and pee LOTS (polydipsia and polyuria). It also causes weight loss eventually if you don't have enough insulin to get your food to your cells. I agree with jemma that you should get checked for a UTI. A burning sensation while peeing can also indicate a UTI. Since you don't mention a fever, it's *probably* not as high up as the kidneys.
Avatar n tn Panic attacks are not symptoms of diabetes. However drinking a lot of water and going to the bathroom a lot can be. If your friend thinks he might have diabetes it is easy enough to go to a doctor who will recommend either a fasting glucose test or an OGTT where he drinks a really sweet drink and watches how it affects his blood sugar over time. He should definitely have it checked as untreated Type 1 diabetes can make you very sick.
Avatar m tn I'm 22 y.o. I've been urinating frequently in the past 2-3 years as far as I can remember (possibly longer than that). But I also noticed that I only tend do to that when I drink excessively compared to other people, so there are days where I urinate normally (which are usually the day where I drink less water).
Avatar n tn Ketones and proteins in the urine can result from many factors, like excessive exercise, dehydration, high protein diet, kidney problems, and diabetes. Diabetes in the initial stages does not produce glucose in urine. However neither will it bring about ketones and proteins in the urine at an early stage. These are generally the signs of uncontrolled diabetes. You need to check the blood sugar fasting (8-12 hours) and two hours after a proper meal.
Avatar n tn Now, today I went to the doctor to check up on my high blood pressure, which I seem to be doing more and more these days. She had me do a urine test, which came back as very high in sugar (I didn't ask what the number was.) When she pricked my finger, however, my blood sugar was low, 67, I believe. My doctor said that the urinalysis must have been inaccurate, but, given my symptoms, I am not so sure.
Avatar f tn How high is your blood pressure? Did your midwife do a dipstick urine test? Did proteins show up? If your symptoms persist you should go to a doctor to start treatment for your condition. I don't want to scare you but if you do have preeclampsia it can be life threatening both for you and your baby. I was diagnosed with it 3 weeks ago, refused hospitalization and am on home bed rest.
1456043 tn?1285362531 Last week I went for standard health check-up. As instructed I was on fast from last night. They collected my blood and urine sample at 9 A.M. Then I was offered breakfast at 9.15 am. I had following breakfast 5 to 6 Idli (South Indian Dish) 2 Butter Toast 1 cup tea 2 Banana 1/2 Apple Now I was asked to come again at 11.15 A.M (i.e 2 hours after breakfast) for blood and urine test.
Avatar n tn A urine test is not as accurate as a blood test, but it does show for sure if sugar is spilling over into the urine because there is not enough insulin working. So it will without doubt show if the child is extremely out of good glucose control. But if things are borderline, I don't know if you will see a positive test. A glucose test from blood is much more accurate.
172023 tn?1334672284 re pretty stumped b/c of the appearance of his urine. No blood at all in it. It is highly, highly dilute, even when his water intake is restricted. Plus, the vomiting shouldn't be going on. The vet is a bit mystified by it. All his chemistries (he had an extensive panel) came back completely normal yesterday. CBC only showed an elevated WBC. Culture is pending so he's on Clavamox starting today. Why would his urine be so dilute?
Avatar m tn Hello, The first possibility for your symptoms is urinary tract infection. Symptoms of UTI are frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, passing of blood in urine and even fever. The most common causes of repeated UTIs are kidney stones and diabetes mellitus. Making a diagnosis of a urinary tract infection includes performing a urinalysis test, which checks for the presence of pus, white blood cells, and bacteria in the urine, which point to a urinary tract infection.
Avatar m tn Hello, Your mother is having blood in urine as well as increased pus cells. Hematuria or blood in the urine can be caused by bleeding from anywhere along the urinary tract. The most common cause is an infection because of the inflammation in the urinary tract. So it is an important possibility. Urinary stones can cause abrasion and irritation resulting in hematuria. Other possible cause is a kidney condition called glomerulonephritis.
Avatar n tn She also seems hungry all the time.Could she possibly be developing type 2 diabetes? Do the symptoms of diabetes fluctuate at the onset accounting for the on/off of her symptoms?Could water retention from the extra fluids account for the rapid weight gain? She is 52 pounds and approx. 41 inches tall, breastfed until 14 months of age. Is it even possible at her age to get type 2?I assumed it couldn't be type 1 because of weight gain rather than loss.
Avatar m tn She said there were traces of glucose and white blood cells in my urine. She has asked me to go in for a blood test and I think a Prostate psa test. I'm worried it could be something serious?
Avatar m tn These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period). Rather than a normal blood test that would only show the sugar levels at the time you gave your blood for testing.
Avatar m tn Are GLUC results and normal blood indicators strong enough reasons to exclude diabetes and say that I have no diabetes at all, or not? P.S. I started the analysis mostly for endocrinological disease, appears I have high TSH(4.76, normal 0.4 - 3.77) and FT4(21.71, normal 12.87 - 20.6) I can provide more details from analysis if necessary. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Possible symptoms of Prostate Cancer are pain during urination, difficulty urinating, loss of bladder control, decrease flow of urine stream, and having blood in the urine. You may consult a doctor and ask about testosterone replacement therapy.
