Since having a full hyster with the removal of three large cysts, I have been experiencing the normal menepausel symptoms (some hot flushes, etc). But the biggest problem is forgeting things. Having a conversation with someone and then forgetting it almost immediately. It is starting to effect my job where I have always been known to have a mind like a steel trap with excellent recall and accuracy. My family laughs with me and say "Mom's getting old." I'm only 42.

As I was getting worse daily, there was no question for me about the surgery. My primary symptoms were double vision, confusion, memory loss, forgetfulness of common everyday words, hearing loss, loss of balance & coordination. I am now wondering if some other strange things were related. I seldom take any narcotics, Valium helps me sleep well, fioricet helps the headaches which are daily but bearable 95% of the time.
Chronic lung infections and sinus too. There are more symptoms but I can't think of them all right now. Depression and iritability. Please excuse spelling. Past diagnosis: Epstein Barr Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia, Migraine eqivalent, now MS.
I have suffered with some depression, which runs in my family (along with anxiety), for about 3 or 4 years now. About 3 years ago I went through a personal traumatic experience. I became depressed but not too severely. I was mostly very sad, on the verge of crying all the time, had some suicidal thoughts but would never really think about taking action, etc. I took Lexapro for a year, and have not been taking anything for about two years and have seemed to be okay until now.
01(normal) and T4K was .7(low) . I know that many symptoms of depression are also symptoms of hypothyroid. Do you think it could be depression? I had similar physical symptoms, like joint pain and headaches, trouble sleeping and the forgetfulness. The anxiety and feeling unmotivated go hand in hand with depression as well. Most people who are diagnosed with one are diagnosed with the other. Also have you been to see your doc about it? And how long have have symptoms been going on?
The forgetfulness and depression can be symptoms of thyroid imbalance, as Laura said. Coping with memory problems or fuzzy thinking is not easy. Notes help, if you can remember to write them down and then get lucky enough to find them. Coping with depression is tough, too. The thing that helps me most is to socialize. Exercise, music, reading, anything to distract you from thinking or worrying about the unsolvable problem or the unbearable moment.
I had a major depression with obsession/compulsive "confessions" for about 3 weeks when I was 11 and pubertal (no treatment) and another, with anxiety (again no treatment) at age 18 that lasted about 9 mos. Since then I have been chronically mildly dysthymic I believe, for most of my life, but no major symptoms. Family Hx: I did have grandmother who had a psychotic depression and an uncle who was hospitalized once for depression as an adult.

Hi Tom, Brain fog or mental clouding is a general sensation of unusually poor mental function, associated with confusion, forgetfulness and detachment. A number of medical or psychiatric conditions and treatments can cause such symptoms, including: chemotherapy treatment, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, heavy metal poisoning, hypothyroidism, major depression or schizophrenia. Otherwise, this may just be allergic reactions or sinus infection. Are there other signs or symptoms present?

The symptoms of numbness and tingling and skin sensations are symptoms of anxiety and depression. If you suffer from anxiety and depression, you are sure to experience these symptoms. So these symptoms are related to anxiety and depression and not childbirth as such. You are likely to experience the symptoms if you have anxiety and depression without childbirth also. Please keep yourself free from stress and be happy with the baby. Please consult a psychotherapist for help.
You may, not making a diagnosis, but you may have something further going on then simple depression, there are about 8 different types of depression, as well as mood disorders which have depression as a symptom.
