Breast milk quantity for babies

Common Questions and Answers about Breast milk quantity for babies

milk

Avatar m tn Whilst, from your incident there are certain factors you must consider. Breastfeeding can transmit to babies in part due to the quantity of milk which they ingested. Again, babies are prone to get HIV as they need to be breastfeed from their mother daily. The incident happens from the breast to mouth where the digestive properties of our saliva help to inactivate the virus.
Avatar f tn Hello,am from lagos nigeria, three month ago I had a sexual encounter with a lady that possibly a csw I never a penetrative sex with her but there was genital to genital contact for like 2 seconds and suck on her nipple and I swallowed some quantity of breast milk because she was lactating she had 4 month old baby, and after the exposure having sore throat and other symthoms,I tesed at 4 and 6 weeks respectively it came out negative for hiv, though the test was a rapid blood test, should I test agai
Avatar n tn I have read through many sites that Breast- Milk transmission is no Risk for Adults. I have 2 Questions ( Assuming that Breast-milk is from HIV + female) 1) If a small Quantity ( Say 1-2 Drops) of Breast-milk splash in eye, what is the risk ? 2) If a small Quantity ( Say 1-2 Drops) of Breast-milk drop on a open wound, what is the risk ?
Avatar f tn Babies tend to consume very large quantities of breast milk for many days. Then, they have an immature digestive tract that does not kill the virus. In adults, both the quantity injested and the salive and stomach acid would destroy the virus. In your case, the milk hit your eye, which is a mucous membrane alright....but the amount of virus in that minute amount of breastmilk will not transmit HIV.
Avatar f tn Babies spit up with breast milk but they do with formula as well. My oldest son had some difficulty breast feeding initially and we supplemented with formula so I was doing both breast feeding and bottle feeding. he would spit up the bottle as much if not more than breast milk. My pediatrician told me that spit up always looks like a lot because as a liquid, it spreads out. So, not to be too concerned about quantity of spit up.
Avatar f tn Also if I get the freezer bags to freeze my milk because I tend to carry a lot of milk. How long is the frozen milk good for and how do you defrost it.
Avatar f tn Breast milk on penis during *** ****. I read that breast milk is a carrier of HIV virus. I am super scared. I never thought I'll put myself in this situation.
Avatar f tn After completing the hand job she told that small quantity of milk will come from her breast rarely. I did not taste milk in my mouth. She said she is having a 4 year kid. I got scared. I washed my mouth and used listerine mouth wash. I don't know about her status. No intercourse no oral sex nothing. Whether I need to test for HIV.
Avatar m tn This is due to many factors, including the quantity of breast milk and the underdeveloped immune system of babies. For adults breast-milk HIV transmission remains only a hypothetical risk. That risk would be dependent on the amount of virus in the infected milk, quantity ingested, presence of cuts or sores on the oral mucous membranes, etc. Overall the risk of an adult contracting HIV from nipple sucking would be EXTREMELY low. you also stated the woman's breasts were dry.

1209036 tn?1299178657 Is baby latched right? If so, after the initial pain it will subside. If not, it will continue to hurt. Your nipples also need to get used to BFing, so it might be a little painful for a few weeks. The best way to increase supply is for the baby to be put to the breast often. If you can't do this, pump every 2-3 hours, and through the night. You can also take fenugreek and blessed thistle and these should help up your supply.
Avatar f tn Yes if your breasts are being stimulated. If baby is too early to nurse you'd have to pump. A lot also depends on methods of delivery. C section moms (term or not) take longer to get milk because sometimes your body doesn't recognize that you're no longer pregnant without delivering vaginally. A lot of severely premature babies are better off delivered by c section. These are also the type of babies that can't nurse right away. So if that was your situation: pump!
Avatar f tn You can pump your milk when you go back to work. I breastfeed/pumped my milk for three years. Formula isn't as good as breast milk and it's more expensive as well.
Avatar f tn No..
Avatar f tn I only breast fed my daughter for two weeks due to a botched csection that landed me back in the hospital. However, I understand that spicy foods, dairy products, coffee, chocolate, cabbage, onions, green veggies, and tomatoes. It can take 2 weeks for something to leave your system (& breast milk). Keep a journal of what you eat so you can go back and what may have upset baby's belly. Some babies are very sensitive, some can live with a free for all in mom's diet.
Avatar f tn I make sure baby is an excellent breastfeeder for about 2 weeks before I introduce the bottle with expressed breast milk. Both my babies did fine with this approach. I also use the Playtex bottle system. It's inexpensive and my babies have done well with it. Good luck! Breastfeeding is a joy!
Avatar f tn Fresh pumped milk can be in room temperature for 6 hours. You never want to heat breast milk in the microwave. It destroys the nutrients. You want to heat it in a bowl of warm water. Most babies won't drink it cold, so around body temperature is good.
Avatar f tn Of course its up to you weather or not you decide to breastfeed me personally I am going to breastfeed if I can do. Its not as easy as it looks. Our bodies produce enough milk supply for our babies to have a full feed and when they are full they come away from the breast.
Avatar f tn It comes after the baby is born, while pregnant it's colostrum or some call it pre milk. Actual milk will come in about 10-14 days after baby. There's 3 stages of milk, 1st colostrum 2nd is transitional milk and last is mature milk.
Avatar f tn I got a nipple shield and it took few weeks for my daughter to fully latch, but it made breast feeding easier.
Avatar f tn That's colostrum, it's the pre milk basically and it will be your babies first food your milk doesn't come until a few days after birth, you can get it *** early as your body thinks is necessary, i hot mine at about 28 weeks but my friend got hers at 12, invest in nursing pads cuz out is probably going to get a little heavier
Avatar f tn I think its different for every mommy like im 24weeks and my friend is also and shes already gotten her breast milk .. mine hasnt came yet .

324372 tn?1222820202 A friend of mine said she did not have enough milk so gave her boys a bottle of formula a day to supplement the breastfeeding. Any amount of breast milk you can feed your baby is good for him. Hope it goes well for you and the baby.
