11367320 tn?1421799959 I Put It In The Fridge For Later On Till I Go To See Her But I Was Wondering For How Long Is Breast Milk Good (When U Put It in The Fridge) To Feed Your Baby?
Avatar f tn Fresh milk can be in the fridge 4-6 days and frozen thawed milk can be in the fridge 24 hours. These are the milk storage guidelines from the LLL.
2053975 tn?1343405733 Long story short everything thawed out including my stored frozen breast milk. When my husband got home my supply was defrosted but still cold, not hot. It kind of looked like a runny slush. Would it be ok to refreeze or is it no longer good? I just left it in there, but now im concern.
Avatar f tn Congratulations on your having a 4month old, A Breast Pump is the best thing to get they are a woderfully easy way to pump off your milk for Baby,In the US we have small plastic bags especially made for Breast milk that the Milk is poured into after expressing, and then put into the Freezer to be given to Baby when its feed time.
1528695 tn?1360582320 How long does it take for your milk to dry up? Mine feels to have decreased in amount, but if i manipulate my breast/nipple (as in hand expression) i get a few squirts and drops.... then i quit. Does the milk totally stop coming out or is this my new normal?
3054705 tn?1348415479 If u freeze you milk in milk bags I believe its good for a year. To unfreeze your milk heat up a cup of water not to hot! And place the bag in the cup to unfreeze. I lovedfreezing my milk because u can store it away for along time. And take it on the go .
194374 tn?1214476694 s reheated, swirl the bottle to mix the layers. there is research that indicates shaking breast milk breaks down some of it beneficial components. http://www.justmommies.com/articles/breast-milk-storage.shtml has a nice chart showing storage guidelines. as for how much to pump for a feed, in general the guidelines are to pump for 10-15 minutes. my baby generally took 2-3 ounces per feed in the first months, then 3-4 ounces per feed up til 6 months.
Avatar f tn And anyway breast milk has its own enzymes that kill bacteria, currently guidelines are that warm soapy water is enough no need to sterilize
823825 tn?1265071431 hi im new in here n i have a question bout breast milk i breast feed on one side n the other side leak so i took the baby bottle so i can save it how long is breast milk good for??
Avatar n tn what is she on? breast milk or formula? babies on breast milk only actually need less than babies on formula because the breast milk is digested so efficiently there is little waste. the guidelines for breast milk are 20-30 ounces/day. there is great variation due to both the baby and the mommy (the caloric content of milk may vary from woman to woman). i am sure someone else can give you info about formula. is she gaining well? is her ped happy with her progress?
Avatar n tn I have read in some articles that breast milk takes between 500-800 calories to produce. I tried adding calories to my diet and gained 10 pounds in 12 days. That can't be right. So I cut back and am no stuck at 57 pounds over weight, according to this app I am burning far more then I take in and yet I can't loose. At all. What am I doing wrong! I'm about to give up if I can't win even a small battle!!!
435139 tn?1255460391 I cut and pasted the article for you too: To avoid waste and for easier thawing & warming, store milk in 1-4 ounce portions. Date milk before storing. Milk from different pumping sessions/days may be combined in one container – use the date of the first milk expressed. Breastmilk is not spoiled unless it smells really bad or tastes sour. To thaw milk * Thaw slowly in the refrigerator (this takes about 12 hours – try putting it in the fridge the night before you need it).
Avatar n tn ) While you are talking with the lactation specialist, also ask for any material they have on freezing the milk. There are time guidelines, etc. and usually they have a handout or booklet with all that information in it.
140844 tn?1204941653 Breast milk is good left out until the next feeding.. they say it can stay at room his tempature up to 10hrs.. but if my baby does not finish i give him the remainder at his next feeding or put it back in thhe fridge till next feeding . This is NOT the same for formula as it must be discarded after 1 hr.. but NOT breastmilk..so tell your dh to put it back in the fridge. P.S. heat the breast milk only in warm water Never put it in the microwave.. it will lose all it benefits!
Avatar f tn I never had a bag go bad. We did primarily keep it in a deep freezer though, but I always served up to the prescribed "expiration", sometimes longer. If you go through my older journals, I actually have tips on storing milk in an entry. The guidelines are flexible, depending on the person. Some people's milk spoils faster. Mine seemed to be good for a while. If I pumped at night and left it out in the cool room, it was still OK 10-12 hours later. Made night feeds easier!
Avatar f tn I'm no expert but I have been BF for the past 10 months. There is so much information out there about rules and guidelines. Here is what I have done and continue to do. I'm an on demand BF mother. I do work part time so I pump 1x when I am at work and generally I pump 1x in the middle of the night. I will leave milk at room temperature for up to 3-4 hours if I must and immediately refrigerate. I generally will keep milk in refridgerator for up to 3-4 days before freezing.
7868606 tn?1410358984 How do I store breast milk? What have you found is easiest to store in? I'm confused and nervous about it.
Avatar f tn If you're super worried they also sell test strips to test your milk to make sure there's no alcohol in it.
Avatar f tn You should talk to your doctor about guidelines to follow if you drink while breastfeeding, alcohol can be transmitted through breast milk although I am not sure how long it stays in the system for. Usually one would do what is called 'pump and dump' where you express milk and just dump it so that baby doesn't ingest it but I'm not sure how long you would need to do that for until you can feed again.
Avatar f tn My little girl wS born last Sunday and latly since a few days ago Iv noticed the milk I'm feeding her doesn't fill her up my doc apoitment is on Monday idk what to do for now she keeps waking up hungry and I'm not trying to feed her before her time
1661682 tn?1313135396 so ive got a breast pump just in case but i was wondering if breast milk can go in the firdge and get warmed up when its needed and if it can go in the fridge how long can it stay in there for.
176135 tn?1314752638 I then gave her 1 1/2 oz of expressed milk in small doses, then when she kept that down I gave her about 2 oz of very diluted grape juice. She spit up a little of that, but it was when she slammed her stomach down on her papa's leg. She wants me to nurse her, but I had a horrible experience a few months ago when I thought she was over stomach flu, nursed her, and was almost immediately drenched in barfed milk (not to mention the sofa, the carpet, etc.
2207301 tn?1340990867 I did find at Babies R US they have test strips that you can test your breast milk to see if the alcohol levels are low and safe for you to feed that milk to your baby. It's what I plan on doing, I got pregnant 2 months after I turned 21 and my hubby turns 21 next year and I wanna be able to drink with him but I will be breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn Our hospital hands out flyers with breast feeding and milk storage tips when you leave the hospital. I breastfeed but my little one didnt take a bottle so i cant help you with the tips! There are lots of guidelines though like how long in the fridge and or freezer and how long at room temp!
Avatar m tn Hi This week I was at a nail salon for a post birth treat. While filing my nail the nail tech made a small cut in my finger which bled slightly. She later put nail polish and primer onto my nails and I felt the acetone primer thing sting the little cut. My questions are basically can I get hep c from: 1. Any of the liquids if any of them contained traces is blood from someone previous with a similar cut 2.
