Avatar m tn I was feeling a lump in my throat a few weeks ago and it made my workouts difficult. One day i then made it worse by rushing my shoulder workout which left my neck feeling tight and swollen. I then felt dizzy and stopped working out. I rested for about a week and now i can't seem to have a proper workout without feeling light headed, tingly face feeling, sinus blocked, ear blocked, face goes a bit numb. I have been working out for 3 years and have never experienced anything like this.
Avatar f tn I was at the gym probably a little more than a week ago using one of the weight lifting machines for my shoulders, on the last repetition I must have strained myself too much and got a sharp pain at the very top of my neck below my skull followed by a bad headache. Now whenever I try and lift weights I get rather severe headache that lasts anywhere from 15-45 minutes and I feel kind of dizzy and lightheaded.
1484735 tn?1288856079 If you have never been evaluated for this head and neck pain, you should definitely see a doctor and aske to be referred to a neurologist. They might want to take a look at your neck to see if any nerves are being pinched, any discs herniated and if you have a high fever with these symptoms, to rule out spinal meningitis. They will likely do a neuro exam, where they test your reflexes, etc..

Avatar m tn ve been using a combination of an inversion table, an inflatable neck brace that pumps up and stretches the neck, various exercises that involve pulling my shoulders down and back and laying flat on the ground with my chin flat too, and taking Omega 3-6-9/Borage oil supplements for inflammation.

666921 tn?1254990618 I am starting to feel a 'flare' subsiding today and have noticed I have - mucus/thick fluid? - during my flares the bottom of my neck/top of shoulders seem to swell-up - I have had a 'scan' on these areas which showed nothing!! Does anyone think it could be that I get 'fluid' around my neck etc. - like when someone has a knee injury and the area becomes swollen?? - or am I being 'stupid'!!!
Avatar n tn after the wreck i was not able to abduct my arm and have been in chronic neck pain and no work or activity for 10 years. I was 29 when i had the shoulder reconstruction after 7 years of severe shoulder problems,, when i was 32 i was hit by a drunk driver who hit and run,, and no doctors have cared about looking into seeing if my nerve roots are ripped of my spine , so i've been a very young woman told to just go home and do nothing at the age of 32.
Avatar f tn s your muscles in your shoulders and neck. The muscles go up from the neck and shoulders and up around the head. If they get strained or bunched up, it'll give you a bad headache. If you would have a friend or relative massage out your shoulders and back of your neck really good, several times a week, that will help. Also, apply heat to your shoulders whenever you can, either hot water bottle or lots of very warm tub baths.

A few of you more experienced patients and victms of Hypothyroidism seem to be reporting some symptoms loosely described as "Joint Pain." Last summer, I developed joint pain in my right elbow after over-working it in the yard, pulling weeds. Anti-inflamatories seemed to cure the problem.
Avatar m tn It does not fix the problem, because they can only adjust the neck and shoulders but not the jaw itself. I have seen chiropractors in the past for tmj, and it did not help at all. I am seeing a dentist who has applied a mouth piece to adjust my jaw, and he told me not to see a chiropractor until he was finished adjusting my jaw. Because what the chiropractor will do is adjust the shoulders and neck that were out of adjustment from the jaw.
Avatar n tn My bottom of my neck and shoulders have always been stiff for as long as I can remember too. My arms get sore and so does my legs. I am sick of complaining to my doctor. I have been diagnosed with TMJD, Myalgia and Myositis. Lyrica did not do too much, I felt good for a bit but not my muscles. They changed me to another muscle relaxant, but I do not feel the full benefits. Could I have a back or head injury? I think I am going crazy.
Avatar n tn I just read your 11/13 comment and I have only one thing to say about Botox in the neck...NEVER AGAIN! I had 4 injections and not only did I have the worst head and neck ache but landed in the hospital from severe dehydration from "going from both ends". I hope I never get that sick again. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that it helped but I wasn't one of them. I sure hope you are feeling better by now.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I lift free weights with a trainer and when I do chin ups, plus prone rows with dumb bells or bench press. I wake up with a stiff neck and upper right trap area or that area and just below that area. It takes a few weeks to go away and then I do other kinds of weight lifting for several months and nothing else seems to cause a problem except squats with a bar on my back. I think my form is good. But these two things cause a problem.

Husband was rubbing my head first, and as he pushed on some painful places on my head, I could feel a corresponding pain in diff parts of my shoulders. So, if you could get someone to rub out your shoulders and back of your neck real good, you may get some relief. You can put heat on your shoulders and back of your neck, too. Your tight jaw muscles also suggest too much muscle tension.

Your body should form a straight line from head to toes. Hold this position until fatigue sets in or aim to hold for 30 to 45 seconds, progressing to one minute holds. Repeat three times per day up to five times per week for tummy toning results. Get toned legs quickly by adding squats into your usual workout routine.

Just the arm or anything above the shoulder and closer to the neck as well?

407812 tn?1211307057 I have pain in my shoulders and neck and it does cause headaches. Even after a three level fusion, I still have pain and headaches. I know that the headaches are caused by the pain in my neck and shoulders because they intensify whenever I do anything to increase the neck pain. The hope is probably for you to receive relief from the pain in your back and neck and thus relieve the pain causing headaches. Hope you find relief.
Avatar m tn Also, I go to gym every other day, which has fans everywhere and air conditioner, and do weight lifting. I do workouts on chest, back and shoulders all the time. Could all this be a cause for those bumps on my neck? Also, I have bad tooth on the very back of upper jaw. It is painful and pain sometimes goes from moderate to high. Last time when I saw my dentist (about 2.5 months ago) he said that there was inflammation and that root canal surgery is advisable for my situation.

4043310 tn?1355912647 Found out my neck and spine are out of alignment and my muscles in my shoulders and neck are inflamed putting pressure on my ocipital nerve causing the pain. I currently go twice a week for alignments and massage and use an icepack on my neck shoulders several times a day for 20 minute increments. These things are helping tremendously, so well that I am hoping continuing these therapies after baby comes will keep me from needing meds at all.
