Avatar f tn I do 5 days a week at the gym just started in January. I am overweight and wanted to get healthy then surprise i found out I'm pregnant and currently 7 weeks. My daily routine is 20 mins on treadmill, 20 on bike or elliptical, 60 crunches or situps, then I work out my thighs, Lower back and other areas. My doctor said to keep working out and drink tons of water so i don't cramp up.

To compensate for the upper body workouts, I did heavy workouts on treadmill, bicycle etc and I sweated a lot ( normally, I sweat very less)! I also started adding some extra protein to my normal diet ( eggs, soya beans, cheese etc.) to recover the calorie loss...To my amazement, I started to experience bloating and pain in my abdomen after few days.
Avatar m tn You can join a gym or you can do workouts like Insanity. You need to run and you need to lift weights. It is very important you lift weights correctly. Body position and form is critical. If you have stairs where you are, get up and run up and down the stairs a couple of times a day. Our bodies need breaks like that. We were not designed to sit 8 and more hours a day.
Avatar n tn Hello all, I have noticed recently, during my weightlifting routines at the gym, that I will occasionally get a fluttering sensation in my heart that lasts about 10 to 15 seconds and occurs randomly while lifting weights or doing abdominal exercises, but oddly enough never during cardio workouts such as running or swimming (chance?). These "flutters" are quite worrisome, as I feel as if my heart may not recover it's consistent beat sometimes.

Most classes I do at the gym incorporate weight exercises (light weights 4 to 6 pounds for me or a 10 pound bar) and I like to do those but don't always make it. So, then I work out at home. And I have that same weight type at home, 3 pound, 5 pound and 8 pound weights and a 10 pound bar--- my question is, how often should I do a weight work out each week.

What type or shoes should I get that I can use for every day exercise and jogging. Can I just do everything in running shoes? Also does anyone recommend a certain brand. Nothing to expensive. I don't want to pay like 200 dollars. Honestly the most I want to pay is 40 to 50. Might even go 60.

Avatar f tn I had luck with the elastic rubber tubes that have the handles on them. They come in different colors which have different resistance levels. Walmart sold one from Gold's Gym that had an instruction DVD with it. Recently I've got a low end "Total Gym" which is also a good way to exercise without causing too much stain on joints. Both allow you to start off very little resistance.

Anyways, since i lost all this weight, my body has changed and i'm much thinner but sadly i still have some untone muscle and skin on my stomach and little flubber on my upper upper inner thighs. Daily I run anywhere from 3-6 miles and i do three sets of crunches, "russian twists", planks, and lunges.

I'd like to work on my abs (unfortunately hidden between a layer of fat),arms (exept for biceps and a little shoulders I don't have much to brag about) and back (I'm having some back pain lately and need to work on my posture). 850661 tn?1245666056 I agree with Mumita you can do all of that except for the crunches. You could supplement with a modified crunch using a yoga ball. I learned some tricks in a prenatal class my gym offers. Chances are if your gym doesn't have a class like that the rec center in your area will. I think swimming is the best workout when your pregnant. When I go swimming I really feel all the muscles in my abdomen and sides stretch out it's a great workout and it's almost impossible to hurt yourself.
