Avatar m tn Swimming is an all-body exercise. A physically demanding combination of cardio and power, it works your heart, and the muscles in your legs, arms, torso and hips. The constant resistance from the water forces your muscles to simultaneously contract and stretch, creating flexible and resilient muscle fibers. To increase the efficiency of your swimming, it's helpful to know which muscles you are using in each stroke and how to strengthen them.
1285110 tn?1420147378 We just got a workout video that breaks up workouts like you have Tigerlily. There is a 15 min arm, 15 core, & 15 leg workouts. At the moment we have a roatating schedule planned that goes something like Day 1: arms & core Day 2: core & legs Day 3: legs & arms & then repeat. Should be interesting to see how it works. We can't keep up with the whole routines yet, but we try. The arm routine is a lot of tricep, chest, shoulder, upper back, & even more triceps.
Avatar f tn Train your biceps, triceps and shoulders in a separate workout once per week to build muscle in the arms. Include curls and rope curls for biceps, triceps overhead press, triceps dips and triceps kickbacks for triceps and front raises, rear flys and lateral raises for shoulders. Perform each exercise for three sets of 15 repetitions. Perform 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise five days per week to burn off fat.
Avatar m tn A rowing machine provides aerobic workouts to the biceps, triceps, pectoralis muscles, and the upper back muscles. An upper body ergometer (arm bike) looks like an upside-down bike that is pedaled with your hands. In the pool, shallow water arm movements with leg stabilization can be done to stress the arms, chest and upper back. With assistance, a seated modified boxing workout can be completed with the aid of medical personnel. Basic cardio.
Avatar m tn I started doing a little of everything 3 times a week, then did arms/abs then chest/back/shoulders/legs twice a week (which took like 2 hours each time to where I was ready to pass out). I am thinking about trying to revamp my routine into a 4 day split with a day of cardio (as my off day). Maybe something like 1-arms, 2-legs, 3-chest/back, 4- shoulders- 5- run, then repeat. I do 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps, also doing a little abs everyday.

Avatar f tn Lower your chest to the floor and then push yourself up to the starting position while keeping your body straight at all times. Pushups work your chest and shoulders. Do the same exercise with your hands close together, below your upper chest, to target your triceps. Google this also if you need to see how it's done. In fact google all of them!! Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor to do single-leg glute bridges, which strengthen your back, hips, glutes and legs.
Avatar f tn For example you might do chest, biceps, and triceps on Monday. Back and shoulders on Wednesday and then finish the week out with quads, hamstrings, and calves on Friday. Be sure to include core work in each workout including cardio days. Keep your workouts to 30-40 minutes daily for cardio and strength. Give your body time to recover. You might ask "why lift weights to lose weight". Simply put muscle burns more calories than fats.
Avatar m tn Place your elbows closer to your body and the barbell aimed more over your lower chest. Another mid-range triceps exercise substitute is the lying triceps extension with a barbell or dumbbell. Barbell is extended and then lowered over head; dumbbells are lowered over side of head. Good luck, hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Pain in my neck and shoulders. I have very little use of my left arm. I was told that a neurosurgeon wold be contacting me. What does all this mean?
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your question. I think your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of cervical disc herniation. This pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head & shoulders (as electric sensation, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants.
Avatar m tn Elsewhere, typically shoulders, chest, knees and hands i experience a general redness and when exposed to hot water or acids (soap) the skin degenerates very easily leaving blotches of uneven skin (no bleeding). I generally have light eczema in the described locations and some mild acne on my back and around my triceps. My skin is fair, little melanin, my hair is dark brown.
Avatar m tn I have had several episodes of temporary weakness or heaviness in both arms. The episode doesn't last very long - perhaps a minute or so. It's happened three times in the past 6 weeks and I remember it happening a couple of other times more than a year ago. When these episodes ocurred I hadn't been doing any physical exertion. The weakness and heaviness is in both arms from the shoulders to the hands and is fairly overwhelming when it happens.
964096 tn?1299507336 Start with core (abs/lower back) exercises, followed by legs, followed by chest/back, shoulders/biceps/triceps. I would have you do a total body workout 2-3 times per week to start with making sure to skip at least one day in between total body workouts. You should be doing 1 to 2 sets of 15 to 20 reps for each exercise, one exercise per major muscle group. You need one day of rest per week, so 6 days/wk of working out at most. Next, stop taking diuretics/laxatives!
Avatar m tn And I was fine, I took a nap and then went to work. At work, I felt a pain in the middle of my chest, like a knife being there after 10 minutes the acute pain went away, leaving only a slight discomfort. Now, I noticed it happens every time I go to the water. After 4-5 hours that i leave the water, the pain is there. I don't know what it is if I lean my shoulders in, the pain is even bigger. Now, I just don't go to the water.
Avatar f tn Tuesday-assuning that you have joined a gym or are already a member of one do a strength workout (on machines for now). Do exercises for chest, biceps, triceps, and core. Keep the workout between 30-45 minutes to start. Rest 30 seconds to 1 minute between sets. Do 2 sets of 15 repetitions for each exercise then go home! No cardio on this day Wednesday-do some kind of cardiovascular exercise for 20-30 minutes. If you walked on Monday swim, cycle, elliptical, stepper this day.
Avatar f tn Obese men should start with low- to moderate-intensity aerobic workouts to ease into a fitness program. Some beginner-friendly aerobic workouts include walking or cycling on a stationary bike. The American College of Sports Medicine advises adults do moderate intensity cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week for good health. Men can do cardio workouts five times a week for 30-minute sessions, or break up the workout into shorter, more frequent sessions.

Avatar m tn I was an apple shape from puberty until age 27--large belly, broad shoulders, ample chest, but barely there hips, thighs, and butt. It didn't matter if I weighed 135 or 165 (and everything in between): I was always the same shape! I used to run and do upper-body strength training 3-4 days a week but couldn't change my body shape. But then I started doing circuit training and using a stationary bike. I also upped my workouts to 5-6 days a week.
Avatar n tn Around one year ago I started to experience a slight pain in my shoulders. It would be mildly painful to make some moves, especially when I had to lift some weight. For example, doing shoulder elevations holding some weight, of internally rotating my shoulder. One day, after my triceps workout, the pain increased severely. It would be painful to lift my arms even without any weights. Also, my shoulders would crack and pop when doing internal rotation and elevations.
