Common Questions and Answers about What is methadone used for

methadose

Avatar f tn It will be a fight, so dont take it for granted, but you must do it for yourself. The Methadone is just a synthetic opiate that will only prolong your battle and will be even harder to conquer in the end. I hope this helps you make a good decision. I came off of 600-700 mgs a day. Best of luck in your decision. This is just my humble opinion. May God bless you and keep you in your future struggle with this issue.
Avatar m tn My question for the group is what drugs are being given to yoiu for long term pain care. To let you know about me I have stenosis in my entire spine, ruptured discs in both cervical and lumbar areas with nerve damage, constant pain, on a scale of 1 to 10 always between a 6 and 10 . I have loss of feeling in my hands and the constantly shake. I am a fall risk due to constant loss of balance. I am also starting to loose feeling in my feet.
Avatar f tn It is banned in Thailand, Malaysia, Burma and Australia (although these countries grow and export it under license,) It is used as Methadone replacement in New Zealand. It is legal to import it and use in this country though it is currently on the DEA watch list. It is not classed as a narcotic but it hits the same receptors. It is not as euphoric as 'real' opiates unless you are opiate 'naive'. I used it abstemiously after my Methadone/Sub.
Avatar n tn If you are having such a hard time of it on the Suboxone then going back on the Methadone may be the best choice for you. Im curious why you transitioned from Methadone to Suboxone in the first place. You wont go into precipitated withdrawals going from Suboxone to Methadone. That only happens going the other way.
1064938 tn?1255282319 This is what we need. Only people who take or have taken methadone understand about it. I am here to say that methadone has saved my life. Some people have such a negative opion of methadone but I think it is a great start to a road of recovery. Sure a lot of people abuse it but for those of us who want to do the right thing it really does work. I hope the Methadone Community stays for a long time to come. I do not even know how I found it. What is the web address to get here.
Avatar f tn Are you saying that you only took one dose of Methadone? If that is what I read, something does not sound right. After years of this, haven't you seen a cardiologist? You really should. You need to get to the bottom of this. If I am interpreting this wrong, please correct me.
Avatar f tn f u are wondering what lamm is im here to answer ur question. it is a form of methadone that lasts much longer. u would go to a clinic Monday Wednesday and Friday. its designed to stay in ur system much longer and takes twive as long to begin withdrawling from then methadone. its abbreviated for levo alpha acetyl methadole. a lot of clinics stopped prescribing lamm about 8 years ago due to how strong it was.
415399 tn?1209504302 What is sub? how does it differ from methadone? my boyfriend is heavily addicted to oxy's and its making our lives miserable, he treated by a pain managment Md, at the moment he is going through the worst withdrawels since I have known him (1 year) he is totally incapacitated and he doesn't get his next script till Friday, how does "sub" work?
Avatar m tn I alsow as on suboxone treatment for my addcition for over 8 months, i am now on methadone and for me its worked a lot better, but for youre case I would try and just taper off completely and if you want a doctor to help you they def. can, i would even suggest it. Now as far as going onto suboxone i dont know if that is a good idea because taht is really strong and can be really hard to get off. and withdrawals can last for months.
Avatar n tn it seems the least amount of sub for the shortest amount of time is the best way to go. I have heard from people who used it for about 10-15 days and it helped tremendously. Do your research on it though - thats the best advice I can give you. Knowledge is power. Suboxone is a very strong and powerful partial opiate and is extremely addicting and difficult to kick (take it from me and many others).. however it can also be a very useful tool in detox.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar n tn I have been an opiate abuser for the past two years. at my high point last year i was doing up to 400 mg of oxycodone per day. i did detox and rehab and wasn't doing too bad til i started a new job that gave my access to narcotics approx 4 mo ago. i was clean for approx 2 months prior to that. over the past 4 months i have been taking anywhere from 6 to 18 perc per day. 2 days ago the only thing available was methadone, so i did 10mg in the am and 10mg in the evening.
Avatar f tn Sorry, I forgot to ask about methadone for bipolar...I read that methadone can help with this. I'm desparate to help my husband and keep me safe..I don't want to have to file charges against him for threatening me.
Avatar f tn I had some issues with moodswings after detoxing off methadone, & for me it was a unfamilar feeling, because when I was on methadone I hardly had feelings, I never cried, then once off methadone, this all changed in a big way, I found myself crying for no reasons, & just wanting to be left alone. After a few weeks, the depression went away, but the anxiety & problems with sleep didnt, so I got onto trazodone, its a anti-depressant that helps with sleep.
Avatar f tn in liquid form before being made as Suboxone, which is easier to dose. Buprenorphine is used for pain, mostly in Europe-- a skin patch in the UK called 'buTrans' releases 5-20 micrograms of bupe per hour through the skin. Six years ago, in 2003, Suboxone became available in the US.
Avatar f tn I am trying trying trying to taper or get the strength to go ct. What is this suboxxone I keep hearing about? Do you have to go to a rehab? Can a doctor prescribe? Lemme know... feeling desperate. Thanks....
Avatar f tn Will this work for her,she wants to get off of all of it in a year. Can that happen or will she be on methadone for the rest of her life. She is 55 year of age and has been doing oxy's for three years plus doing Perts for the last 7years.The perts is getting from a doctor and get 75 a months.
Avatar n tn To use Methadone to come off of Oxy is like using an atomic bomb when all you need is a hand grenade. The addiction to Methadone is so much worse than Oxy. To come off Oxycontin, the best way is to use Percocet (same drug- Oxycodone) or Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and taper until you can jump off. Methadone will cause a much worse addiction and if you try to quit it you will suffer W/D's for months.
