Common Questions and Answers about Weight loss wars

Avatar f tn The thyroid gland controls weight gain and loss, temperament, pain, depression, etc. I can only speak for myself. When my dosage isn't right, I gain weight, my skin gets really dry and cracks. My hair gets really dull and thin. I stay tired and hurt as if I have the flue. With you being athletic, trust me, nip it in the bud before you wind up gaining another 30!! I have been tested, poked and prodded in the name of finding out why I'm so big! This really bites!!
163305 tn?1333672171 All forums have "insider fights" I have no idea what was behind this. To me - it's not relevent. What is relevent is the offensive sexual harrasment of a female member here. I said before there should be no taboo subjects here - but I guess I do draw the line at sexual harassment. Which is what this was. Med Help removed the offensive posts and that was GREAT.
Avatar n tn Fear of being discovered, fear of loss of income and love, fear of withdrawal, fear, fear, fear. It's paralyzing and is the ultimate enabler. Then there is the fear of coming clean with the docs and not getting an empathetic response. This has happened to me in the past. I was simply written off the doc's list of clients and hung out to dry. Not very encouraging.
1050938 tn?1311557178 Weight loss is a tricky balancing act that doesn't take kindly to swinging too much in any direction...even if the direction seems healthy. I'm always reminded of this fact whenever progress slows down to a halt and I'm left holding the bag of vegetables wondering what the fudge happened.
Avatar n tn whereas someone else would feel like cr@p with a TSH of 2.5. I look at my FT's first THEN the TSH. As for the weight loss......I gained 16kgs prior to RAI and that weight held on for its dear life, believe me! lol I exercised, I ate right, I did everything I was supposed to do and I gained! THEN I started to get my Free T's right and guess what? The weight has dropped off.
Avatar f tn Do the symptoms ever get better? Is weight loss surgery an option for me?? Is it possible to have ADD and Hypothyroid? 35 year old female. Diagnosed with hypothyroid in 2007 by a bariatric doctor who was treating me for obesity. TSH was over 8. Started with 75 mcg of synthroid, went up to 100 mcg and felt great, losing weight all was good.
Avatar f tn Make sure he knows what other boys his age are talking about (star wars, super heroes, transformers and your weight doesn't matter for that!) You will be surprised the benefit for upping his physical activity---- besides weight loss it helps with mood tremendously. I always recommended it to my clients in therapy. A trampoline would be excellent. He could jump some but even just run around the edge (netted, of course). Then at school, talk to his teacher about this.
968560 tn?1307455098 like GSDgirl, I looked it up, and it’s labeled for weight loss. Have you discussed the use of Provigil (modafinil) yet? This stuff is FDA labeled for fatigue (think fighter pilots :o)), and is supposed to be non-addictive.
Avatar f tn weight gain out of nowhere (at least 40 pounds) within a month, depression, anxiety, hair loss, fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain. I just wanted to know before I 100% decide whether or not to go see a endocrinologist.
Avatar m tn You're also taking a diet pill, but you hardly eat. Not eating doesn't necessarily lead to weight loss if what you eat doesn't give you the energy and health to move. Diet pills don't work unless they're speed, and even the theoretical function of them will only work is your thyroid is working well because when it isn't your adrenals will be off as well, your diet suits you and gives you sufficient nutrients, and you move as much as you're able.
675347 tn?1365464245 Misty has been in the wars. Not a broken rib as we thought....but a tumor. Needle-biopsy "inconclusive". The vet somehow thinks it could be a Hemangiosarcoma.....obviously the results do not specify a "sarcoma" at all, but they get us no further either. No treatment even if it was a cancer. Surgery would be horrendous because of its position. He suggested doing an incisional biopsy next week. I asked him what was the point?
Avatar n tn My pulse is always fast...usually 90 - 115 bpm. I also have the heat intolerance, recent weight loss but hungry, excess sweating (so annoying), night sweats, anxiety, irritability, and occasional loose stool (which is strange because I'm usually constipated).
Avatar f tn Chronic severe anxiety can definitely take a toll on us and affect our health in other ways, ie weight loss/gain, sleep deprivation (or too much sleep), and so on. But no, it will not cause a heart attack, even though it sure feels like it sometimes.
Avatar m tn What you describe does happen to anxiety sufferers, but it also happens to thyroid sufferers. If you go on the weight loss forum, there's a woman named Barb who has fought the thyroid wars for ages and it took years for her to finally do her own research and start to come out on top. You might give her a private message and see if she can offer some help, because as long as this might be your thyroid, treating anxiety it it isn't anxiety won't help much.
649848 tn?1534637300 Maybe I put out more energy than I thought, or else I have finally dumped some water weight that a rather salty diet had been giving me for a few weeks, because unexpectedly I'm down a pound and a half. Haven't seen that kind of loss in one week since the first week of the spring weight challenge. I thought it might be because of how I was standing on the scale, even. But I weighed twice and it seems real. A surprise, to say the least.
865902 tn?1239312521 I guarantee that any plan like this one will cause significant weight loss…in your wallet. Sorry. Had to rant about this. People believe many dumb things and will until the world’s end. I feel bad for the people brought in by this and am angered at the hucksters that are fattening their wallets and misleading the uninformed. End of Rant *This post was originally published at Musings of a Distractible Mind.
535822 tn?1443980380 infrastructure and U.S. high-value land, all with a U.S. government guarantee against loss. Yu Qiao, a professor of economics in the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsighua University in Beijing, proposed in 2009 a plan for the U.S. government to guarantee foreign investments in the United States. WND has reliable information that the Bank of China, China’s central bank, has continued to advance the plan to convert China’s holdings of U.S. debt into equity owned by China in the U.S.
Avatar n tn Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction....The chain reaction of evil--hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars--must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation." Martin Luther King, Jr., Strength To Love, 1963. Perhaps a bit dramatic, but wow, what powerful words to live by!
518031 tn?1295578974 collapsed veins from injecting the drug · loss of weight · reduction of sex hormone levels · frequent infections · pregnancy complications including still birth · death Like marijuana pain medications while legal they are dangerous too. As we all know , put in the wrong hands they are deadly. I do not in my opinion think marijuana should be used as a medicinal tool except in extreme cases where there are no other options.
1530342 tn?1405020090 One American life in situations like this is far too much of a price to pay. Honestly, I don't know what we as a people stand to get from this and a lot of our previous wars/conflicts/police actions.... I guess it's a feel good humanitarian effort or something.... I don't know what else to make of it. These people really don't even like themselves. They've been at it for thousands of years! It's a rather bold notion to think that we can step in there and "change the world".
Avatar f tn It affects a number of things. As far as weight loss, I am also trying to loose weight as I am 35 years old, 135 pounds and 5'1. I should be about 110 pounds but because I've had more than two kids, most of my weight sticks in the thighs and belly. I do stay active because I take my kids back and forth to daycare, doctor, etc. Currently I am looking to see if there is a pill I can take even by perscription that will help with the weight loss.
148532 tn?1216644162 But I really like the skinny part I thought about eating everything I can and getting fat but then what if weight lost is the one side I dont get. I better hold off on eating the whole house. I have long hair and color it about every 3 weeks Im thinking of cutting it short and frosting to let the gray come in without such a shock What do ya think?
Avatar m tn severe headaches at times. 9. abnormal weight loss (I went from 225 down to 170, though through GNC Protein Shakes I have been drinking like crazy I am up to around 180 right now which is good, but still pretty bad since I have lost all of my muscle mass) As far as the memory loss, it's short and long term. I barely remember my High School Years and I always forget things people (especially my wife) has said.
358304 tn?1409713092 Tis the season (snortin' and snotinl' and sneezin' myself) I also wanted to say, cnote, that even though I'm sure you and your wife are totally thrilled about the baby and everything is going well with the pregnancy (aside from the vacuum wars!) that being pregnant can be stressful. Aside from all the physical and emotional changes going on, it's hard to escape the fact that your life is going to undergo a very major change before too long.
20804558 tn?1517783610 Secondly, congratulations on your previous weight loss. It's awesome that you were able to lose that amount of weight. Stress often causes us to gain, or be unable to lose. I apologize for your thread having been hijacked and turned into a debate. We're here to help and support you in every way we can.
Avatar n tn same thing is now happening to me....saw endo the other day and he said TSH is too low. i had thyroid removed 10 years ago and iodine rad. we have keep this low on purpose. now all of a sudden doc wants to lower synthroid to 112. i was on 150 for a long time...then to 125....then 3 months ago to 137 now he wants to bypass 125 and go to 112. I am afraid of weight gain & loss of hair. but maybe the excessive sweating will stop. after surgery i gained 75 in matter of months.....
152264 tn?1280358257 Yet he seems to be eating fine, acting and looking perfectly normal. The weight loss concerns me (although he's not actually underweight, the vet says), but he doesn't seem to have any infections currently except still a slight inflammation in his gums, I guess. (MUCH better than before, of course.) I have decided to just keep the cats separated for now, and we'll see what happens. They seem reasonably content to each have a floor to themselves, most of the time.
Avatar n tn I know it shows low libido or low sex drive but does that effect other things also like muscles pain/ weight gain /loss muscles mass ? Smilerdeb,You are right about read everything but don't believe , i guess it is not working out same way with me .
