Avatar f tn We try to be very health conscience. She can literally put on weight within a day or two (around holidays when there is more food around). I am 5' 2" and weigh 100 lbs. Her father is 6' and weighs 185 lbs. We are fit and do many outdoor activities. We emphasize health but it's hard for our daughter that she can't shed the added weight (especially around the middle). . Help.

Avatar f tn She had serious health issues when born (two heart defects, heart failure, failure to thrive with weight, but these have all been resolved for over a year. She appears in good health, and she's gaining weight (her weight is the one thing that has been climbing, she is 25 months now and 24.5 lbs, so around 40% for weight. She is continuing to grow in height, but she's dropping all the time on the chart. Her doctors have never really mentioned anything about it.

Avatar n tn Just because your weight is in an ideal range doesn't mean you are HEALTHY or FIT. A simple chart is NOT enough to determine where you should be as far as your weight. If I may ask, what is your weight?

Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.

Avoid foods like cookies, chips, aerated drinks .You can also do aerobic exercises or exercises which will help you gain muscle mass. The added muscle will increase your metabolism which in turn will lead to increased consumption of calories per day to maintain that weight.

The consequences of being severely underweight can be detrimental to your health and well-being. I suspect that your body fat percentage is already low to sustain healthy hormonal,cognitive and neurological function.

I have a basic sports background but just can't seem to translate my goals into action. (Can't stop eating, can't start exercising. It's driving me nuts.) Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Aside from the vanity point of losing the weight I am sure it makes the arthritis and numbness worse to be carrying around 40 - 50 extra pounds. I take a pilates reformer class on Tues and Thurs with a trainer, Spin Class on Mon and Wed and I walk/ run on other days. What could be the problem?? It is really bugging me.

There is nothing to worry and you put your goals in place and start earnestly. Once you start some form of Physical exercise remember to continue all your life and do not stop them as this will give you good health.
