Common Questions and Answers about Weight chart babies

400358 tn?1320238043 So since I am new to this forum. What are your babies names? When were they born and sizes at birth? Our son was born July 28th. His name is Joel Alexander and he was 6 bls 15 oz and 20 1/2 inches long at birth.
172826 tn?1423426556 he doesnt seem concerned he said he was doing very good and that his food intake was very good etc but i am concerned of his weight..everywhere i look everyone's babies are bigger..i mean ds was 6lbs 15oz when he was born...i have a friend that her 2mos old is 14 lbs and drinks 4-6oz per 3 hrs...which ds was doing too..her ds was 8lbs when born...which keeping in mind he as well is formula fed...ugh...even here i hear the babies being bigger...is my little one normal...???
Avatar n tn Oh and when that happened me and my husband just Google searched how much babies weigh at that time and baby center has a chart of average weights and heights for your baby:):) I hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I dont think theres a specific weight ur baby should weight. I mean if a baby is born 9lbs hes gonna weight more then a baby born at 6lbs. And some babies eat more others dont. My niece was under the "chart" weight wise but she was sitting and crawling a lot earlier then most. My sister weights 40lbs at 10yrs old. Shes super tiny but shes still healthy.
Avatar f tn I just got back from my growth ultrasound and he's a whopping 2 lbs 3oz! I looked up a chart for average fetal weight and it says the average at 26 weeks is 1.68lbs!

118074 tn?1228332603 Just keep introducing different food to your baby and let him eat the same kind for awhile before giving him a different one. He'll eventually start liking normal food and gaining weight. For the time being, for him to gain weight, lots of bubbas/breastmilk (whichever you're doing).
145997 tn?1196795421 I also have to agree however, ultrasounds are only gesti-mation of weight, but that weight is a little big. Have you been checked for diabetes?
3233324 tn?1357864959 Many people say the measurment system is off and only an estimate so I hope for your sake baby wont be tooo big.
Avatar f tn Current standard weight charts are based on formula fed babies and should not apply to breastfed babies. Even if we do compare to a chart for breastfed babies, we have to keep in mind that each person is an individual. Look at us as adults. Take any amount of people who eat the same exact foods and have the same activity levels and they will have different rates of weight gain.

Avatar n tn Hats off to you for delivering a 9.5 pound baby dear! Is he on his growth chart?? Is your doctor worried about his weight? My baby had gas and reflux and I did a lot of research on it at the time. Many boys actually have an immature sphincter muscle and will spit up almost in a violent way. My son sure did. They outgrow this. I added the gas drops to a bottle a few times a day and that helped.
1212601 tn?1276924291 All I need to know is that the baby is going to be okay. Does this mean that the baby is not developing correctly, that her weight it just low, or that there may be other problems?
280369 tn?1316705641 I thing the growth chart is different for boys, i have a book somewhere around here that has the weight and growth chart on it, the same one they use in dr office to keep record, i will look for it and post it 2mrw nite if you havent found the answer by then, or try googling growth charts and compare it from girls and boys.
233562 tn?1282771982 Thought I would start a list to keep track of all the August 2010 babies to help us keep up with each other. If I got any info wrong or missed anyone let me know. Northgal76 EDD 8/1 DR. 12/16 eddiblair EDD 8/2 DR.
4654179 tn?1382646814 My doctor says that breastfed babies should not be compared to formula fed babies and should have their own growth chart. It sounds to me like he is doing great so I wouldn't be overly concerned.
Avatar f tn Yep books are more accurate then this app.
Avatar f tn com/ip/reproductive_years/pregnancy/p_twins_normal_high.html with a chart on suggested weight gain for twins.- It says if you are 5'2" or smaller then the weight gain should be on the lower curve not higher curve.... which indicates i should have gained 24 lbs.....so since both girls are right on track, it appears that they have gained just fine and I have lost 5 kgs of ME. I love hearing from and comparing with those pregnant now and those who already had their twins.
Avatar f tn It calculates your body mass index based on your starting weight and height and plots your current weight on a chart which shows what the healthy range is for your body. I find it useful because I don't have to do the math myself. I check it about once every 1 or 2 weeks. It's right on target with what my doctor told me to gain so I trust it. Just keep in mind that your weight gain is not necessarily linear either.
Avatar f tn I know there are several people here who can't seem to put weight on. I stay sick to my stomach a lot, also. I would think that would make me lose weight. I don't know. I am starting to get very concerned about it. That is probably one of the last things for me to be "worried" about, but I have a fear of being overweight like my mother and sister. I want to be as healthy as I can at the time. Thanks y'all for your support.
1278876 tn?1304911919 a month breastfed babies tend to gain more the first 6 months then gain slower then formula fed babies as formula fed babies hold water weight. they look at the babies growth curve if they are gaining properly, no matter what percentile they are in it is just not good to fall off thier growth curve. They have a growth chart in the trackers here on you profile for your little ones. I have one for my littel guy but haver it set to private.
Avatar f tn Have any of you had skinny babies? What did you do to get their weight up? If you did supplement with formula did it work? I need help. I am so scared I'm not giving him enough.
Avatar f tn im 25 weeks and today the midwife said my baby is under weight on the chart, he's in the part that 10% of babies weigh and I have to go back in the next week and if he hasn't grown I need to have a scan. has any one else had this?
Avatar f tn 4 on Tuesday and est fetal weight was 4.14... On the growth chart he was 31st percentile. He was in the 30s 5 weeks ago too. Drs said he was perfect size. I wouldn't worry unless you have other indicators he's not growing well.
Avatar f tn I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. I know and accept that I am going to gain weight during my pregnancy but I'm worried about after the baby is born. I really want to get back to my old figure and I'm afraid its going to be harder to lose weight and harder to find the time and energy to exersize once the baby is born. I know its going to be impossible to go to the gym. Maybe homw workout videos??? Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Your health-care provider might have a booklet or flyer about the topic also. I would check his weight and keep track on a chart, if he is really losing weight, contact his doctor.
Avatar f tn Is a jerk!!! Fat or skinny anyone can get gestational diabetes. I'm over weight and I did not have gestational diabetes. As for eating right my fitness pal is a great tool to keep track of what your consuming it has helped me loss a lot of weight. I like to eat so I pick things I can eat a lot of like grapes. I can eat 4 cups of grapes to one candy bar. Good luck.
2020005 tn?1476662562 I had her 6 month check up today and the doctor said she doesn't look malnourished, she looks healthy, but she's in the 25th percentile and her weight has kind of plateaued. I have to take her back in 6 weeks for a re-weigh. I'm so stressed and I feel so much pressure for her to gain weight. What can I do? I'm feeding her on demand, as always, starting solids, I'm wondering if her recently learning to crawl is burning some calories?
Avatar n tn would it be so bad if I discontinued eating potatoes/pasta/bread on a regular basis (I wouldnt cut it out completey, just limit to maybe a day or two per week). I dont want to call this a diet for I am not looking to lose weight, I just want to slow down my gain. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you!
